Cuphead took inspiration from early 20th century cartoons. Apparently its a crime for another company to turn around and take inspiration from Cuphead though. lol This game doesn't look like some cheap knock off nor is it lifting assets like some people like to say. If it were true best believe this studio would be getting sued right now.

This game is just taking everything and calling it their own. 1920s animation inspired aesthetic, bullet hell gameplay, etc. They are taking another company’s idea. It’s clearly obvious this game is just riding on what gave cup head it’s own identity and calling it their own. It’s like a kid making their own original character from sonic the hedgehog but it’s just a red sonic with different shoes.

Shovel knight taking inspiration from mega man is a better example of something being inspired by another thing.

Except unlike cuphead, strip away the visuals and you're left with a very, very bad and broken game.
