Yea that makes sense, maybe the rumored “Switch Pro” will be enough to compete with the next Xbox and PS5.

We will we see, I’m starting to put money aside for both systems.

If a Switch Pro comes out it won't be enough of a power jump to compete with PS5 or Scarlett. It will be a stop gap like the Pro and X are.

Nintendo is doing its own thing, the Switch is not in the same category of games console that PlayStation and Xbox are. Sony and Microsoft are releasing new consoles next year because they have to keep pace with one another, Nintendo doesn't need to. There will be no Switch Pro in 2020.

@Venom

Oh, I'm not saying there will be. I was just saying, if there was, it wouldn't compete power wise with the PS5 and Scarlett.

All a Switch pro can be is an X2 with is not a big jump from the X1. There is no Tegra chip after that Nintendo can use until the Ampere in a few years. That will give it at least base Xbox One or PS4 performance with newer feature sets. If they can somehow shrink the die to 3-4nm then we may see PS4 Pro performance by 2023-2024. As it is now in 2019 or 2020. X2 is a small boost.

I dont understand. The switch was never the most powerful neither was the wii....come to think of it, when was Nintendo the most powerful in a generation? The 64?

Fact of the matter is ps5 and scarlett better have games showing the power or it will be them not competing with Nintendo.
All Nintendo gotta do in holiday 2020 is drop the price.

Obviously, but that doesn't matter.

I’m not sure if you’re thinking the Switch Pro system would be on the level of a PS5 or Scarlett, but I can tell you 100% that the Switch Pro would not have games the base Switch couldn’t play.

So, it wouldn’t compete at all. It’s just maybe your Switch games would be sharper and run at higher frame rates. It wouldn’t be like you’ll be playing PS5 or Scarlett games on the Switch Pro.

@Crimson
You can’t say 100% that a Switch pro wouldn’t have games the base switch couldn’t play cause Nintendo has always done that. The gameboy color games couldn’t be played on the original gameboy. The 3ds is basically a DS pro. The “NEW” 3ds has games the other ds 3ds models can’t play. Even the Nintendo 64 had games you could only play if you had the hi-rez expansion pak including Majoras Mask and Donkey Kong 64.

I didn't know that Nintendo was competing with Sony and Microsoft. I thought that Nintendo always did their own thing

King_Noctis346d ago

Again, they all are console maker, and they all make games. Therefore, they are in the same market competing for the same audience, gamer. Unless you start seeing the Switch pop up in the top 10 selling TV list or aircon list, then my point stands.

CrimsonWing69345d ago

They’re in the console market. That’s like saying you didn’t know Chick-Fil-A is competing with Burger King and McDonalds...

I've thought this for a while. I think that BotW 2 coming out in October/November would be fantastic. It'd also be great if Prime 4 came out that same year, but I don't have high hopes.

They can still have a good year with Animal Crossing, BotW 2, Bayonetta 3, No More Heroes 3 and a few other surprises (which I'm sure they have). Hopefully SMTV comes out next year too.

King_Noctis346d ago

Titles like Pikmin, Starfox, Mario Odyssey 2, Paper Mario, Kid Icurus, and Warioware would do wonder on top of your listed titles for 2020.

Regardless of what Microsoft and Sony do the Switch is going to just keep plodding along.
Nintendos exclusive games alone will ensure that it eclipses 80M sold in the next few years.
