The movie is great, but it felt more of a remake of the movie Taxi Driver. I feel like all the movie did was replace Travis Bickle with Arthur Fleck and then DC decided to add comic references to the movie.
You seemed to have missed the entire point of the film. It wasn't dark just for the sake of it, it was dark because it tackled a very serious topic about how a society that doesn't care can negatively affect someone with severe mental issues, which drives said-someone into insanity. The execution was done so beautifully.
Flimsy plot and writing. The idea anyone would take its cartoonish portrayal of mental illness seriously is problematic. Guy climbs inside a fridge and closes the door for what reason I still dont know. The one scene when his ex coworkers come to see him was great. Appearance on late night was creepy right up until he opens his mouth and gives that stupid lecture on how mean society is. Not a good film, good cinematography though.
Oh dear me. It's a gross exaggeration of what mental illness can lead to and the film's purpose is entertainment. Stop trying to make more of it than it is. If you want to know about mental illness, read the many academic papers on different illnesses that have research behind them and leave this film to be what it is; a story about a comic book character that we consume to pass a few hours of our lives. And yes it tries too hard to be dark.
I think Sony did this with God of War too if I’m not mistaken
Amazing film. That talk show scene was bone chilling.
Advertising a masterpiece using a masterpiece.
Can't wait for DS!
