How Gears 5 Should Shape the Future of Xbox Exclusive Games

Gears 5 has quickly set a precedent for future Xbox exclusives that Microsoft should follow up on to keep the momentum going into next gen.

Would be interesting to see how H.I. pans out. Like I said before MS needs to have high quality standards across all of its AAA development with the same love and care. If they knock Halo out out the park, that's great for a series that was getting stale but in the long run what does it really prove for Xbox Game Studios? Its like John Cena's 5 moves of death that everybody sees coming but nobody can seem to defeat, Forza, Halo and Gears. Its just proves that MS is good at caring and loving its 3 children in the long haul. I'm glad Gears is good but MS still has allot of work to do and allot to prove as well in other new Ip's and studio's. I mean literally the closest game to being announced next is most likely Fable IV. So the Four Horseman are back together.

Sounds like I'm being negative and yes trust me I know they're working on new games from those newly bought studios. I'm just keeping things in a realistic fashion. at the moment I'm just seeing a pattern.

I agree that MS doesn't have as many IP as Sony but to say that they only cater to the big three is quite a stretch.
What about ORi? there's a sequel coming and was pan by critics?
Killer Instincts is a great fighting game that even the pro scene agree is well made and balanced. Plus, it's cross-play with pc and been quite supported.

We could talk about Sea of thieves and State of decay 2 that sure got rocky starts but are well supported by MS and offer a nice community.

And were not mentioning game that was published by MS but made by 3rd parties for Xbox ( Sunset Overdrive, CupHead and Quantum Break).

My take?
Perhaps MS should focus on making a flawless launch with a console that has a clear purpose (play game), not overprice and user friendly from the start.

I like Halo and Gears but the main games should be more spaced out. Like one at the start and towards the end of the gen.
What 343i and the coalition should attempt is either a new IP or have a spin off game that drastically changes its design. This will allow 343i and Coalition to be more experimental rather than keeping things safe.

Also what Gears 5 has shown is how they could add RPG features to the campaign and have traditional Multiplayer.

I think it´s gonna be awesome! 343i nailed with Guardians Multiplayer. Now that Brian Reed is gone, we should experience a whole new narrative and creative direction for Halo Infinite.

If almost every games they put out in the future can score 85% or up (likes Gears 5), then I’d say that is a very bright future.

85 % is a great score, but saying Gears should shape the future of exclusive games is definitely not good, this cause Gears is an old franchise and hasn't evolve one bit from their past predecessors it even went backwards, not Single Gears of War game has surpassed the scores of its 360 predecessors, the sentence "should shape the future of its exclusive games" should it go to a brand new IP that in the end this is what MS desperately needs in order to finally get out of their rabbit hole, but hey some people have a very narrow view and can't see the whole picture.

Just heard that Playground recently hired big name writers from Rocksteady´s Arkham series! O.o

If Microsoft continue to empower their studios with such big name talents from, Naughty Dog, Rocksteady, Santa Monica, DICE, Bioware, Kojima Productions, Guerrilla Games, EA, Rockstar, Crystal Dinamics and Insomniac as they has been doing, we about to get first class masterpieces! :)

Naw its not underwhelming at all if they put that sort of Gears, Forza Halo type of care and attention in other AAA studios. Like you said other new ip that gamers can get behind to get them out of their rabbit hole/safe zone.Things are looking up for MS even if they're slowly looking up its still progress nonetheless.

The problem with MS isn't in the game offering department it's in the many mistakes they made at the release of the console (inferiors in power, overprice, not user-friendly and devoid of an exact purpose,

Release the Scarlett at a competitive price, make it user-friendly (no DRM crap) and focus the mission on a simple thing (playing a game instead of doing everything) and it will give MS a fair shot at being competitive and a strong player.

Yep fill them with microtransactions. And release them for free because they're gunna fail, so stop releasing sales numbers or even MAUs
