I was recently asked what my favorite DLC was and it got me thinking about the days when expansions were the only content building on existing games. Now they've become increasingly rare. Do DLC and expansions share the same definition for you?
Are the Half-Life expansions Blue Shift and Opposing Force worth playing in 2023? Let's discuss each of these entries in the beloved franchise.
Opposing Forces and Blue Shift were awesome addons. It was great getting to intersect with Gordon from the Half Life game with a whole different perspective on the events.
Some Video Game franchises have weapons that are imaginative, unconventional and downright bizarre. This is a good thing. Join us as we investigate nine of the best.
I'm surprised Ratchet & Clank wasn't on the list. Late Saint's Row games, with more imaginative weapons like the Shark gun and the armchair with guns would fit on a part two list as well
Thank you to everyone for your excellent suggestions. They have all been added to the list for part two which should be published by the end of the month :-)
Modder 'Leaufai' has released a new AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack for the classic Half-Life games.
I guess it depends on the size of the content you're getting? DLC's can range in size, so something like a handful of maps for MP, or some skins and such are definitely just DLC. If it's something like The Witcher 3 or Monster Hunter World Iceborne where they add so much new stuff that it almost matches the base game content then that is definitely an expansion.
The devolution of the gaming landscape to real money transactions screwed DLC I think. Only a few devs do it now and that's only because they're caring and give a crap about us, their consumers. Even R* and Take-Two are all about online and grifting now. Can't blame it all on devs either; millions of players are throwing their credit cards at this garbage and screwing single-player DLC for others.
