Games like that may become the norm for MS, but the x1x won't likely be getting most of them. MS is squarely focused on salvaging their image to promote the next console, and have given up on this gen. Some games may still come to x1 for a couple years after scarlett releases, but for the price of a new x1x, I'd only expect a few more years of support for it. MS doesn't have a history at all of supporting their older generations after a new one comes out

Microsoft has acquired a lot of excellent studios. Many were investment constrained in delivering their games as independents but still delivered really popular or cult classic games... Fallout New Vegas, Forza Horizon, Dungeon Seige III, Pillars of Eternity, South Park Stick of Truth, Contrast, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Hellblade, Heavenly Sword, Minecraft, Wasteland, Enslaved, and State of Decay.

Last gen I owned a PS3 and near the end I bought a 360 because of Halo and Gears of War 1,2 and 3. This gen I have no reason to buy an Xbox. A few games does not compel me to have another console take up space by the tv.

I'd buy the PS4 over the Xbox, but I'd buy an XBO X over the PS4 Pro, because the Pro isn't really such a big and essential jump in power.

As a gamer though, especially if you already have a collection of games built up on Xbox Original, and 360, an XBO X is a good investment (enjoyed Sonic and Sega All Star Racing Transformed again yesterday).

However, Playstation has the better exclusives, and should be first choice if you want current-gen gaming.

Can't really go wrong with either. It's a good time to be a gamer, and it will only get better.

If you can afford two consoles and you're in a budget, a base PS4 and Xbox One X is probably the best way to go.

But if you can only have one and you care about performance, PS4 Pro for sure. You stand to miss many more games by just having an X. Pro won't perform as well, but it's really the better gaming platform in my opinion since you'll miss a lot of really stellar games otherwise.

There is a wider issue for me, I respect how Sony operates in the industry, they invest in games to grow their market share and importantly, the games are free from micro-transactions and all that jazz. MS are no better than EA and the like in respect of milking their customer base for every penny while investing as little as possible into improving the industry.

The performance thing people act like there is a hugely significant difference between the two, or that its ubiquitous that every game is significantly better.

I have a ps4p, and quite honestly, I havent run into any issue with performance on ps4p. Only major instance was HDR on RDR2. Granted, I dont care all that much about clamoring over "true4k" or 60fps, but I'd imagine anyone now looking for advice on a console purchase arent either, and the price difference may not be enough to make them care either.

It's a matter of degrees, but for the most part, the ps4p has fine performance. So does the base ps4 if we really want to get into it. Overall, the ogx1 performance is fine, but there are more instances of actual performance issues, but I will say graphics wise, it usually fine if you arent trying for all the bells and whistles which now seems to be so popular with x1x owners

1) What's the benefit of Microsoft recent acquisitions for the X? I don't recall a game announced by one of theses studios for the console.

2) Is there a rage to play Gears and Halo? like is there a rage to play Uncharted 4 and Wip3out? Not saying that theses game aren't great but again late in the cycle I doubt that suddenly 1 or 2 titles will make you a new console owner.

Now, how about the 5 best reasons to purchase a Sega Genesis mini over a Xbox 1X and a Ps pro4?

2) There is no day 1 patch.
3) no MT in any games.

A ps4p and cheap uhd player would maybe be better. The x1 uhd player isnt really all that great, and a cheap last years model can be found for 120-150 if you really want all that uhd has to offer, with a game system that has a better selection of games.

There may be other considerations, but I always find these articles silly. For the most part, people should be basing their decision on what games they want to play, then consider if the console they're buying will play those, and consideration given to the long term potential to keep getting games to play for the up front costs of the console. This late in the gen, I wouldn't drop $500 on an x1x, because MS has absolutely no history of supporting their older consoles. None. The longest is 2 years, and most of that support was not big. That may change with the X1X, but surely not the OGx1, and as it stands, I wouldn't take MS word theyll continue to support the x1x for the long term

I'm taking the bait, I clicked the article, let's go through the reasons:

1. The Xbox One X Is The Most Powerful Console Available

Yeah, so? This console generation is on the way out, and all that power has mostly gone to waste except for grind-heavy, microtransaction-filled third party games I'd never want to play. Why do I care about resolution about some of the worst games of the generation? Graphics mean nothing without excellent game mechanics and interesting game design. Next!

2. It’s The Only Console For Gears 5 And Halo Infinite

Is Halo Infinite even confirmed for the Xbox One X? And who will want to play it when you know for a fact that the next Xbox console can also play it? Which means that playing Halo Infinite will be superior on the next Xbox, not on the current Xbox, because "graphics matter" (using the logic from the reason #1), which means you DON'T want to play Halo Infinite on the Xbox One X, which negates this reason entirely. Cool.

3. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Is A Great Deal

It's a great deal if you want to play those games, but if you're someone like me, who already has too much to play at any given moment, both on classic and modern platforms, I don't want to pay money for an online subscription that I won't even spend much time on. Which means I'm not getting my money's worth, which means it isn't a 'great deal' for me. Go figure.

4. Backward Compatibility Is Awesome

Yeah, it is awesome, I'm a huge proponent of retro games, and while Xbox 360 isn't exactly 'retro' yet, it will be eventually, and having BC for it is great. That being said, BC can only be seen as a bonus, and not a worthwhile reason enough to purchase any given console. Unlike old analog consoles, the 360 is cheap, easy to find, its HDMI capable, and upscales to 1080p with the built-in scaler which means if you want to play 360 games, no need to buy an Xbox One X, just buy a 360. Reminds me of what Don Mattrick told us back in 2013. Heh.

5. Microsoft Has Acquired Some Excellent Studios

Yep, they bought studios, but so what? Nothing interesting has been announced as of yet. Now we're supposed to buy consoles based on the hope of what games they'll release? And what if I don't like the eventual games that they reveal? How will I feel about having purchased the Xbox One X then? Not too happy I assure you. Finally, as stated previously, this console generation is on the way out, nearly all the games these studios are working on will be for the next Xbox console. So why buy the current Xbox if the games aren't even releasing on the system itself?! LOGIC!

I don't care who agrees. There are a ton of 3rd party games that run smoother, better frame rates and better resolution. 1X definitely was a better mid gen jump, than pro. It is a fact. Yes Sony has better exclusives, but that doesn't mean 1X isn't a better machine than pro. Gears 5, is amazing!

I have all three current consoles and play on a 4K HDR monitor.

PS4 Pro i play a vast majority as it has much better exclusives in my opinion.

Xbox One X i buy some single player games on over my PS4 Pro for slightly better graphics/performance.

My Switch gathers dust as it just doesn't have the games i want to play.

Have both, bought the one x as a 4k disc player, got gamepass ultimate for pennies with all the deals being chucked around by ms, honestly wouldn't play it if it wasn't for my ps4 fan being out of control. Unfortunately that's driven me to buy all multiplats in the one x for the rest of this gen.

VR is the bomb.

And even my 10 year OLD Mac pro (albeit upgraded, mainly for Audio with a Hex Core, GTX980, 32Gb ram and 8.5Tb of SSD's) plays games in windows natively ... Even rates well above the average machine on steam....
It does the job mighty fine.

I love my Xbox one x it’s runs multi platform games the same or better than a PS4 pro but there really isn’t a point to buying one right now, Scarlett and ps5 are out next year and Microsoft’s line up this generation is pretty poor compared to Sony and even Nintendo who’s switch launched just 3 years ago... there are a few good titles like gears 4/5, sea of thieves, forza horizon 4 and not really a title but gamepass is really good value and that’s kinda it imo.

This is Microsoft’s worse generation it started horrendously and finally only just started getting better in the last 3 or so years, but better than complete dumpster fire isn’t saying much...

They approached this generation as Microsoft instead of Xbox and it shows hopefully now they have seen what Sony and Nintendo were able to do while focussing on games next gen will be better but who knows with these things companies are so focused on what’s next they can’t see what’s happening right now. They have already said they want 8k next gen and to me that’s insanity the PS4 pro and Xbox one x have only just mastered 1080p 60fps they can’t do 4K 60fps without dynamic resolution going up and down...

I really hope Sony has lit a fire under them because otherwise Microsoft is gonna have a bad time next gen.
