Opinion: Review bombers are giving up what little power they have

Review bombing has just become a sad reality of the video game market. Recently, Astral Chain and Fire Emblem: Three Houses were review bombed on Metacritic (and to an extent Amazon) merely for being Switch exclusives.

I see the point of this article but it’s aged badly. Astral Chain has a 9.0 user rating currently and Three Houses has a 8.7. I think it would be better to talk about games like Mortal Kombat 11 and Borderlands 3 which have been review bombed to shit just because of controversy. I think the whole switch review bomb thing doesn’t have much of a basis there’s more of a argument for Xbox exclusives being review bombed.

Nope, Astral Chain used to have a 6.0 and Fire Emblem had a 6.6 before Metacritic deleted all the review bombs

They literally had images in the article for you to see that there is proof it got review bombed. I think you just revealed yourself as having not read the article, lol.

I never said it didn’t get review bombed my guy. I said the article aged badly because the games no longer have that issue but games like MK11 and Borderlands 3 to name a few still have the problem also that Xbox games get review bombed the worst out of all console exclusives and maybe the author should expand on those issues too rather than writing an article that makes it seem like Switch games get review bombed the worst out of all other consoles when that simply isn’t true.

"I said the article aged badly because the games no longer have that issue"

Dude, the article was published on the 16th. It's not even had a chance to age.

"still have the problem also that Xbox games get review bombed the worst out of all console exclusives and maybe the author should expand on those issues too rather than writing an article that makes it seem like Switch games get review bombed the worst out of all other consoles when that simply isn’t true."

That's called whataboutism. You're basically saying "yeh, but what about Xbox??". Dude the article chooses multiple examples across the Switch and PC but because they didn't mentioned an Xbox game thats an issue? Is this the Victim Olympics to you, or can the issue not be talked about unless they choose examples you like?

The article was posted on the 16th after the issue was resolved that’s exactly why I said what I said, the author should expand his points to include more references and examples that still apply especially if your writing a opinion piece about review bombing which he was, it’s not about pointing the finger and saying “What about Xbox” I don’t even own an Xbox but it’s pretty obvious what console gets review bombed the worst of course I’m going to mention it when the article makes it seem like the Switch receives the most hate. I never said the article was bad I was merely giving my opinion just like the author was, I wasn’t saying you have to choose this or mention that I was just making suggestions and voicing my above opinions if that means I have “whatboutism” to you then I must have it

We all know which crowd was review-bombing Switch exclusives.

Carpet bombing opinion articles has done the same for games media.

Please. I have seen just as many review bombs against all three of the big brands. Quit acting like it's only Nintendo that gets this.
