Worldwide Hardware Estimates for the Week Ending August 31

The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console worldwide with 257,915 consoles sold for the week ending August 31, according to VGChartz estimates.

The PlayStation 4 was the second best-selling console with sales of 181,363 consoles sold, followed by the Xbox One with 44,185 units, the 3DS with 13,410 units, and the PlayStation Vita with just 48 units.

the real question is how many millions of systems has Soulja Boy sold this month. bet its 10 million.

Those numbers are all wrong considering the PS4 passed the 100 millions mark in July.

Not exactly. The PS4 passed 100 million shipped in July not sold. This site's numbers reflect sold numbers. Now that doesn't mean that their numbers are dead on right but the summer time is slow for console sales so these numbers could be right.

That's what some well put together hardware with plenty of high quality true exclusives will do for you. Not to mention Nintendo's much greater 3rd party support this time around.

Whether people like or dislike Xbox's emphasis on releasing all of its "exclusives" on PC, there's no denying it has completely crippled their hardware sales. Last gen I bought all the systems, but if you own a PS4, Switch and PC, what incentive do you have to buy an Xbox? They've created their own systems irrelevance.

Looking at the bigger picture apparently VGC’s numbers for 2019 so far are

- PS4 at 7.7 million
- Switch at 7.7 million
- Xbox One at 1.9 million
- 3DS at 900K
- Vita is N\A at the moment

Xbox library is on a PC, and their strategy is software sales and subscriptions. Eventually Xbox will be just an App. Is that a good thing? Who knows...for fans no, for casuals yes.
