Apple revealed when the much anticipated Apple Arcade will release along with several new games and the price of the subscription service.
No thank you.
And you have to have an apple device too. Not for me.
Well you see they arent trying to compete with playstation, they know who their audiences are for mobile games.
And knowing their audience they'll eat this shit up like there's no tomorrow. Apple are evil mind controling geniuses.
Google is the evil mind control company... but let’s not go there.
that looks like a bad Apple
At least the price is reasonable... $5/month whole family
Aren’t the game also free of microtransactions with Apple Arcade?
Free of microtransactions and any in-app ads
Apple Arcade doesn’t sound that bad at all really. https://ibb.co/GnJwjLy iOS 13 also supports DualShock 4 which is great.
My mate will love it for that price, he hates the ads but buys in game items so a 1 off monthly payment will save him money at the end of the day. Not for me but I can see the market they are going for with there apple customers.
No thanks.. I’ll just stick with my Stadia pre order. Better games.
huh? stadia isnt even comparable in any way shape or form. You also have to buy each game anyway, so have fun playing console games at sub ps2 quality!
and you have fun waiting and waiting and waiting for countless downloads and installs and having to pay money for external storage. I havent bought a physical copy of a game since Uncharted 2, so i couldnt care less about "owning" my games aslong as i can play them literally on any device anywhere with a good connection. And BTW, buying digital games from PS or Xbox store isnt true ownership either, its just the illusion of ownership
“and you have fun waiting and waiting and waiting for countless downloads and installs” And you have fun with lag and video compression introduced with cloud gaming. Everything has drawbacks.
Lol good luck with that. Let us know how much you enjoy paying full price to lease each individual games for streaming only
'The ****? Not a fan of this subscription service scheme, but really?
Ive never even heard of it until this post
I don't think apple knows what games are
Sure they do those are the free apps that ask for your parents credit card details
They make more money from games than almost any other company on the planet I’d imagine considering the cut they take of f2p games on their platform.. >80% of the AppStore’s revenue is from games. They know what a game is. 😅 Having a subscription service with quality titles may help rectify the image the AppStore has for ad supported shovelware.
Console/Pc games are video games. App store games are timewasters. Apple is catering to a very casual audience as compared to the Console/PC audience.
Apart from they have full ports of stuff like Civ5 and XCom, and Fortnite is clearly a big deal. There are games on iOS, and now there’ll be more.
@Spurg - you're stuck in the mindset of what the app store used to be like, about 5-6 years ago. These days, thanks to the enhanced CPU and GPU power within the units (some actually capable of more computing power than the Xbox One S), there's a lot of real games on there - not just clickers and 'energy' games. Being ignorant and classing the biggest gaming market in the world as 'non-gaming' though is rather silly. Apple makes millions off the apps they publish and will continue to make millions each and every month. It's the whole "what/who is a gamer" debate - it's not up to you to decide. If someone likes playing games on their mobile, that's up to them. Their enjoyment can't be decided by you just because you don't think they are 'real games'.
Looks alright for casual gamers
Easy pass. hell i only use my iphone 10 for texts and sat nav.
Like majority of people.
This is good value if you have a whole family of iOS devices around. iOS supports DS4 and X1 pads now, bizarrely, and the devices are certainly more than powerful enough to game well. Will be interesting to see how many devs get on board.
its not bizarre at all really, apple is making big moves to get into the living room. Their games might be aimed at young audiences and women, but I think thats actually the best way to go about it instead of trying to compete with playstation. Theyve also been rolling apple tv features to several brands of tvs. My vizio just got the update a few weeks back, samsung, sony, lg, and other streaming devices are also getting some sort of access to apples eco system.
I just mean it was really odd to see that in another presentation when it happened. I mean it’s one thing having controller support but no other big “by the rules” player flaunts controleler support for the big two like that. MS and Sony must have to some extent approved I would’ve thought? Weird. :) But yeah I’m interested to see where this goes.
This looks great for anyone with younger children, or for those that dont only want to play the typical console games. People on here dont get out much do they? they seem to be living in a bubble.
No kidding. There are actually great games on mobile. I'm a "core" gamer, if you will. Name a platform, I own it. I'll still play some mobile games - as long as you aren't picking up freemium crap than there are games well worth your time on mobile. There's such a mindset against mobile that people don't even bother considering it. That said, Apple requires iOS 13 for Arcade. My phone is a Note 9, so my last Apple devices are older and stuck on 12 forever. So I won't get to test it out. Pity.
You might get the option on your next tv, we will have to wait and see.
Very interesting deal to be honest. Some of the games there look very good, especially the one from Square Enix. Will keep a close eye on this. Unlike most “gamer” here, I think the more premium games we have (even if those are mobile games) the better, and this service provide premium game without any MT bs. We don’t need any more casino games.
exactly. These games look far more interesting than your typical mobile stuff. Hate to say it but even the new Frogger from Konami looks fun. It's being developed by Q-games who did the Pixeljunk games on PSN. https://www.youtube.com/wat... A lot of exclusives to try out. Throw in the new Chu Chu from Sega and I'll definitely try this. $6 for 2 months? That's less than a Big Mac
https://www.fastfoodmenupri... Big Mac $3.99
@ skatterbrain I'm using hyperbole to emphasize a point. Would you rather I said a Wendy's baconator?
Im actually looking forward to playing these kinds of games without having notifications to buy crap every 5 seconds.
I agree that more premium games are better.... But, I disagree with tying me to one hardware platform. The company that lets me to take advantage of the unique hardware capabilities of each hardware and OS platform (PC, Console, and Phone/Tablet) will win me over. I don't want to stream on my console or PC... I want to have the games locally and I want them to use every ounce of power on the console or PC, I want to stream on devices while I travel, and I want great mobile games downloadable to my mobile devices where applicable.
If I had an apple product, I would try it. As it is, though, meh.
There’s a good chance your next tv will have Apple ecosystem built in.
Shantae and new Chu Chu rocket are “launch titles..” New Chu Chu rocket! That’s a really nice thing to come out while we’ve all been reminiscing about the Dreamcast.
Whaat!? Whoever downvoted Chu Chu Rocket is a fake gamer! 😉 Seriously though it’s a genuine classic and one of the best games on the DC.
Anyone else get the Tweet from TellTale games who were excited about the iPhone 11? Maybe Apple have been throwing some money around too?
a gaming console which costs £1400...And we thought PS3 was expensive.
Yes but your older iPhone can use this service.
Not to mention old iphones get around 6 years support, or you could even get a $300 ipad which also gets around 6 years support. Apple should really start pushing the value of their products vs android products, with android you might pay less but you get much less value and a slower device.
That seems disingenuous considering the 11Pro starts at £999. That’s like saying gaming on pc is expensive because high end PCs exist. It also runs on ancient, way less powerful devices. You can pick up an SE or a 7 for less than a PS4.
ChuChu Rocket! Universe is the only game I want to play, but of course I want to play it with a traditional gaming controller, not a touch screen. UGH, SEGA! Announce a console / PC release NOW!
Actually you can connect a ps4 or xbox controller to your phone/ipad/apple tv with ios13.
over 100 exclusives... with 100 of them being crap
You see the list of all games already?
"over 100 exclusives... with 100 of them being crap" Apple will do fine with this service. There's a console platform ran out of Redman, Washington that has over 100 exclusives and there all crap and they do just fine. Lol......Apple knows what they're doing and they all ready take in millions of the gaming industry's money and with this service they''ll get more of it. Now the service may not be for everybody but then not every service is.
Not interested, same as stadia or whatever it was.
yeah its actually completely different.
I meant im not interested in that one either.
5 bucks a month, that's not bad I will at least try it, hopefully it gets fun games. Also looking forward to play using a controller.
I will be trying it. Cheap (I mean super cheap), No micro-transactions, and big name titles? Why not? I feel sorry for you guys that have the simple reason of “Apple sucks”. Loyalty to companies that don’t know you exist. If something’s good, it’s good. I could care less who made it. Do I have access to it? Is it worth getting access to it for? My only two questions when it comes to things.
Certainly not for me, but I sadly have a friend who loves mobile games (I know) he buys gems and other stuff so I imagine £4.99 a month for my mate is probably gonna be great value for him. We can blame the mobile games industry for this loot box crap imo, its where it all stemmed, originated, evolved from at the end of the day.
