Chris Strach, Mercury News writes: "Fable 2" is an action role-playing game that allows players to develop a customized character and choose a life of adventure or regular day-to-day work. It's a watered-down version of "Dungeons &Dragons" for the Xbox. You'll live in an open-ended, imaginative and often colorful world. Set 500 years after the original, this game offers innovative real-time gameplay, including freedom to explore a vast array of dungeons, catacombs and caves in the world of Albion.
The good: The graphics are nice and gameplay is simple and accessible to casual players.
The bad: The story is not compelling. Players have access to only eight spells, while many games offer hundreds. The characters are bland. Most annoying is that this should be a game for all ages, yet includes sexual content not appropriate for children. It's like watching Disney doing something salacious to get a Mature rating.
The bottom line: One thing this game does well is it allows you to act out in a world where you can be something different from what you are in real life. Many players will find it engaging, if only for a short while. It's an improvement from the last version, but there's still work to be done.
