Bluepoint would be a great purchase for Sony. They did an amazing job with Shadow of the Colossus remake.

And the Nathan Drake collection was awesome.

I disagree, they only release ports and remakes except for a download game. Do they have creative talent, or can they just work with existing assets? What's the point in buying them if less money can be spent hiring them as contractors? They'll run out of remakes eventually.

Jin_Sakai552d ago (Edited 552d ago )

Because they’d have the backing from SIE and also the ability to use Sony first party tools and work alongside Sony Worldwide Studios.

I’m also pretty sure Bluepoint are fully capable of making games outside of remakes.

You don't know that they are. If they had talent wouldn't they have released another original game? Companies are bought because of original ideas and talent. Why do you think contact companies like Bluepoint exist? It's because Sony and Microsoft would rather have their internal teams work on new stuff.

Is that what people want, more remakes? What happened to everybody clamoring for new IPs? What about all the complaints of "more of the same"? Now you want to bring back more of the older games?

BlaqMagiq1551d ago

There are thousands of older games that can get a remaster or remake. I guarantee you they will never run out of games to remaster or remake.

We're getting great new IPs and great sequels to play. Let them do what they're specialized at doing.

Even if Bluepoint doesn't have the talent required to develop a game from the ground up( i disagree) they definitely have the technical chops as demonstrated with Drake's collection and SotC.

That said, Sony can easily aqcuire them and put them in charge to do 1) Remaster/makes of their old IPs(of which they have many), 2) Lead Backwards Compatibility between PlayStation systems and library of games, freeing internal Studios to develop new games and provide support to 3rd party 3) Integrate Sony's ICE team and develop/update internal studio engines/assets and provide support. They can easily become World wide studios technical hub.

Just watch these vids and you'll begin to understand their potential.

No point in trying to convince fools on the internet who have no logical or strategic understanding of the variables that go into these m&a decisions. Lol just let them all dream bro

Sony should get some studios that specialize in areas that their 1st party teams don't do.
Point and click
Platformers (like they used to be the kings of)
Or how about a skateboarding type game. Bring back xtreme and coolboarders

I would like to see a strategy RPG studio funded by Sony similar to the Fire Emblem team from Nintendo.

italiangamer552d ago

Oh I personally think that they already got them in the sack :D

ApocalypseShadow552d ago (Edited 552d ago )

So that they can remake Syphon Filter and I can shoot and roll through lots of glass while tasing enemies. And Bend can continue doing their stuff after Days Gone. It's a win win. For me anyway.

If RE2 can get a great remake, give me my Syphon Filter remake Bluepoint Games. We need some Gabe Logan and Lian Xing.

Pronto. Vamonos. Let's get cracking.

They've done plenty for Sony...

They've remastered the God War 1 and 2, the remastered the PSP God of Wars, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Gravity Rush, They supplied the engine for PS All Stars Battle Royale and developed the Vita version to ensure parity and cross play with the PS3 version, Remastered Uncharted 1-3. They've done the Ratchet and Clank Collection, the Jak remasters...

They've worked almost exclusively with Sony for the better part of a Decade... Sony should definitely acquire them. The work they did on Shadow of the Colossus they should be acquired and staffed up to tackle not just remaking Hallowed PS franchises but creating brand new games, their pipeline fully supports the makings of making current gen games, especially after the incredible work they release with SotC.

Rynxie551d ago (Edited 551d ago )

Were they the ones responsible for the god of war collection and Jack and daxter collection for the Vita? Because those game were bad ports. So, no, Sony shouldn't buy them.

Sevir551d ago

They didn't port the Vita versions of those. They've worked primarily on the PS3 and PS4. The Vita game they handled was PS All starts battle Royale as they supplied the engine to team that built the game on PS3.

And lol. Sony shouldnt buy them buy them because you think they didn't do a good port of PS Vita for two games, but ignore the fact that they've remastered and remade 10+ other games all which have scored pretty good and performed well? What logic.

Rynxie551d ago

Well, if they make bad ports, and just focus on remakes, what can they possibly bring to the table? It would be a waste of money. Would you hire someone who has bright innovative ideas, or someone who just takes an existing idea and remakes it? But not only that, had a few blunders?

Jrios355551d ago

- The Jak and Daxter Collection was remastered by Mass Media Games (Both versions).
- The Ratchet and Clank Collection was remastered by Idol Minds (PS3) And Mass Media Games (PS Vita).
- The God of War Origins Collection was remastered by Ready at Dawn.

Other than that, it's true that they work very closely to Sony and PlayStation. They would be an excellent acquisition.
