Gamepressure writes: "Cyberpunk 2077 is not what it can – or rather could – be. And it doesn't quite live up to the hype."
'Cyberpunk 2077 is having difficulties withstanding the hype and is falling short of expectations.' Whose expectations? Maybe your expectations but it's not falling short for many, many other people. Don't write and present a personal opinion as a factual headline. It's better English and more professional if you wrote that Cyberpunk 2077 'is falling short of MY expectations.' Remember that next time you put a headline on a below-average rant.
Full agreement, the arguments in the article are weak. I wonder if Epic is behind this attack?: https://respawnfirst.com/cy...
What a load of rubbish
This is the definition of clickbait! And it’s working.
I love discovering people who make shit up for no reason. FAB
Even if it doesn't end up being spectacular, I cannot see this game being less than great, so I'm not really worried.
to everyone putting this game on a pedestal it will be less than great. Those who over hype are always disappointed. I'm excited but I find it best to vest little interest in a game and play it for what it is. Hasn't failed me yet.
Hype usually generates disappointment. For me once I see the announcement of a title and see some gameplay, I usually block myself from the game until release.
Sure but hyping things up plays into pre-order culture. It also creates incidents similar to what we saw with Day's Gone, where people hyped the game just enough that when there was a decent number of reviews that disagreed with their expectations, they threw a fit over it.
Personally I'm only expecting the core gameplay to be on the positive side of ok and I'm fine with that. I actually didn't like the combat in TW3 but it's still one of the best games I ever played and Cyberpunk looks a lot sharper in terms of gameplay. I will be disappointed if the overall story, characters, quests, writing and acting are below par but we know little about these things in the context of the game as a whole.
The writing in CDPR games is always top notch. Witcher 3 had better side quests than any game I've ever played. I'm sure Cyberpunk will be no different.
Truly. Most of the side quests, I wasn't doing it for gear or experience, I just wanted to know what was going to happen. Very rare with open world games. For instance, the werewolf quest.
Look at the hype before red dead 2 came out....and then it turned out to be just okay. Fortunately cd project red have time to fix stuff, but be it star wars, the next gta, etc. Nothing can live up to the hype these days.
Rockstar is already giving up on RDR2, they still supporting gta V to this day.
Just okay? Wrong
Subjective. It's ok to you, not to everybody. I find RDR2 to be an achievement as a whole, just like GTAV.
Just okay? RDR2 is one of the most critically acclaimed games not just this generation, but in gaming history.
Im not hyped for it because its a dumb FPS, most casuals prefer to play in the 3rd person perspective. It being 1st person is the main reason i dont care for this game.
Third person perspective eliminates the idea of this game completely. Once you see a character in front of you, it's no longer you, just a muppet you control that does what you want.
and yet there are cutscenes, pause menu, where you see your avatar. And yet CD allows us the option to control our muppet in 3rd when we drive which looks fucking awesome. Corner-cutting to release the game on on time, nothing more. Having both perspectives would have added months, perhaps years more to development. Oh but don't allow these people to have the option! They must be denied 3rd-person gameplay even though you'd never choose to play that way. You're like all the rest of the FPS community; you simply don't want the content to exist for others despite you yourself not choosing to partake in it. Truly pathetic.
Dumb statement. You sound like, we'll be able to move each individual finger because first person is 'me'
Wtf are you talking about? You just said most casuals prefer to play in 3rd person? Casuals are most commonly considered dumb...
Yeah, made no sense at all. Not to mention the insinuation that a first person perspective is automatically a deal breaker. It's good to have variety.
"most casuals prefer to play in the 3rd person perspective. It being 1st person is the main reason i dont care for this game. " So you're saying that you are a casual gamer?
That's what I got out of his comment - seems he doesn't know what he's saying.
Im a casual gamer.
Never post cringe
I would like to know where you heard that casuals perfer 3rd person over 1st. That makes no sense. Are you grabbing this logic from Fortnite?
And yet some of the most casual-popular games are first person shooters. Go figure...
The limited gameplay we have seen so far looks really solid, what will make this game one of the best this gen is if they nail down the story, characters, side quests, boss battles and the open world they create makes you want to forget the script and go random exploring giving you hours of quality gameplay.
....and art style.
And cdpr is known for nailing those things so I expect we have a great game incoming
Yeah, not every game that is fps has to feel like Doom or a mil-sim to have enjoyable mechanics.
The first Witcher game was great but not as good as the sequels. This game will at least be great but even if it's not excellent, it will pave the way for future masterpieces from this talented team
The first Witcher game was not as good because they had 20 bucks to make it and no experience. They are an accomplished studio now. They need to deliver. And I don't care for the sequels that my grandchildren will play. Games like this take 5 years of development at least, I want a good game now. I don't even know where I'm going to be in 5 years.
You'll be on this forum saying how much you loved Cyberpunk 2077 but that you're enjoying the sequel even more ;)
Hype is a strange thing and I don't think most companies know how to handle it properly. Basically, a known IP will generate it's own buzz. You don't have to advertise the new Jordan sneakers or a Star Wars movie or the next Grand Theft Auto. They all WILL advertise but they don't have to in order to turn a massive profit. Cyberpunk is in the strange area where it would have been better to say nothing at all until they had a game to show. Let the rumors leak and spread but say nothing. Then, 6 months before release you show a teaser and there you go. I think the game will be good but they didn't help themselves much with the easter egg teasers and such. Hype will likely hurt the final opinion of it. Death Stranding is likely going to suffer from this BIG TIME. I love Kojima's work and I'm a huge MGS nerd. I'm grabbing DS regardless but the hype will not serve him well here. He'd have to deliver everyone's greatest expectation to live up to the hype generated and that's just not possible. It's literally impossible. It can be great but it'll never be what everyone wanted it to be for 4 years. Cyberpunk isn't in as much danger of "overhype" as DS but it'll likely suffer for it.
I think you're absolutely right, especially regarding DS, but I must say that I simply can't feel sorry for either the companies or the players. If the devs/publishers really want to build hype to get those pre-orders and sales, then they only have themselves to blame if some customers feel let down because the hype got too much. They have to take the rough with the smooth and it's their choice to decide what matters most to them. If the player feels let down, they've only got themselves to blame for believing all the hype and not tempering their expectations.
Absolutely...on all of it. Great reply.
This is my most looked forward game together with FF 7R. After The Witcher 3 what the f*ck is this dude talking about? People can't freaking wait for this at the moment, lmao xD
That's exactly what he's talking about. People are really excited for this. If it's not out of this world fantastic some people will be disappointed.
Falling short of expectations 8 months before release. Yup, sounds like a story. Print it!
Lol for real. We barely know anything about this game, maybe let the game come out first.
Yeah, what's even funnier is that he doesn't even keep his criticisms to things that don't require a controller in your hand in order to judge them. He just straight up says the bits he thinks aren't good are the hands-on gameplay elements, the exact thing he can't truly know anything about since no one outside CDPR has actually played it, afaik.
What hype. They only show gameplay to you fools for some reason.
It's not out yet you asshats
Didn't you know? Journalists know how good the hands on gameplay feels even if they've never got their hands on it.
Witcher 3 is not only one of the best game I have played this gen but one of the best game I have played period. Even if Cyberpunk is half as good as the Witcher 3 it will still be an above average game If Red can reach the same level as they did with Witcher 3 that alone would be something extra ordinary. I am just looking forward in immersing myself into a new world
ha ha, thanks but i can make up my own mind thanks, i dont need no third party telling me what i will or will not like
Speqk for yourself, the art style alone is 10x better than most games available. I love fake concern articles, it's an FPS - it ain't going to reinvent the wheel.
Who is gamepressure again?
Shoulda 3rd Personed that shit.
Then optional Third Personed it....why not capitalize on the success of Witcher's camera view?
Give it a rest
My bad....all I wanted was Witcher, but sci-fi since I hate medieval fantasy. Enjoy. :-(
This is a desperate attempt to get views on this bad news site.
The games media is torn on this one. Cdpr is well respected, but after the creator gave the finger to many, and wont cater to agendas, you will see a few hit pieces like this. Looks great to me.
Is it though? No signs point to that at all
pfffft get real. Why dont you write actual articles instead?
How about waiting until the game is out, retard
I've almost given up already, just needs one more delay or push back and I'll move on.
It’ll sell millions without you. Buh bye!
Carry on I'm fed up of these type of games.
I miss the days before the word "hype" crept into gaming and there was no such thing as click baiting. Back when once a month your favorite gaming magazine was delivered with your mail and you couldn't wait to crack it open and check out all the latest and greatest gaming news with no political agendas or fanboy bullshit, just that little card that would fall out hoping you'd up your subscription before it ran out, ahh the good ole' days.
I'm with ya... My magazine would show up every month full of info, and a demo disc. I really miss that. No BS.
Stupid clickbait article. Basically says, 'looks great but I'm not sure about hands on gameplay'...for a game that's 8 months from release and that no journo has played yet. Besides, RDR 2 and GTA do just fine despite the actual gameplay mechanics being the least of their qualities. I mean, just look at this dumb intro line. "At the Cyberpunk show 2077 in Cologne I saw a devilishly impressive game, but just a game nonetheless." No shit?! It's a game? Has CDPR ever claimed this is 'more than a game.'? If someone buys 2077 and somehow expects something far greater than anything that has ever gone before, to the point it can't even be categorised as a game anymore - that it transcends gaming itself - then any disappointment they feel is solely on them. For me, my top 3 games of all time hadn't changed in 14 years but then The Witcher 3 came along and went straight in there. Astounding game. I still knew, and was perfectly happy, that it was 'just a game'. Articles like this are just there to espouse ridiculous theories and go against the grain to stand out and get clicks. Sheesh, at least wait until you've got the controller in your hand mate.
look... witcher was great not because of the combat, the combat was OK at best, too repetitive and plain, what made the witcher so good was the story and the game's ability to immerse you while you were playing it, no-one can say that this game will fall short of expectations when the game isn't even playable!!!! The only thing that has been shown is preview demos played by the developers or just a lengthy video. So... no, i don't think the game is "Falling short" I think now-a-days everyone wants to punish everything way before it's even out.
At least we will get a somewhat enjoyable and complete game with no bs, and at most we will get a fun cyberpunk game set in a fantastic table-top RPG world.
