Interesting.

I hope they stick to their word.

Because it was becoming hell of confusing to the consumer, seeing once MS exclusives on other platforms.

Sciurus_vulgaris1710d ago (Edited 1710d ago )

Then it’s odd Ori and the Blind Forest was brought to Switch? Unlike Cuphead and Super Lucky’s Tale, Ori is MS owned. It almost like the Switch release of Ori is being done to market the sequel.

UltraNova1709d ago

What's even weirder is that right when Sony says they are looking Into porting some of their games elsewhere MS says they have no plans to do that. Has hell frozen over?

DarkZane1709d ago (Edited 1709d ago )

@UltraNova

Sony probably just meant PC and mobile, not Nintendo or Xbox. Also it's multiplayer titles only.

Outside_ofthe_Box1709d ago

@UltraNova

More interesting that this comes after Sony acquired Insomniac. Being able to play on as many devices as possible was a huge talking point up until now. Is someone feeling the heat?

rainslacker1709d ago

I think these companies just need to stop talking about maybes and hypotheticals, and what they will and won't do, but then they may not so that.

If they release the game on another platform, then it happens, but it shouldn't be expected. The fact this has even become a question that keeps getting asked means that the waters have been muddied, and MS was the first to start talking about it, and now they're saying no plans, but of course, no plans doesn't mean they won't eventually do it.

Same goes for any company, and the fan boy bickering around it is pretty old.

After reading the article I think they referring to the studios they just recently bought. They'll basically saying, yes, we are launching these games as previously planned on all announced platforms, but moving forward dont expect them to be day and date launched on multiple platforms.

Old ports like Ori and cuphead etc. May still come to nintendo at some point since they like their partnership... just dont expect Ori 2 to launch on Switch.

Bronxs151709d ago

Honest question. Why port to switch only? Wouldn’t a PS4 port be easy and much more straightforward than a switch port? It’s almost like they don’t view switch as it’s own market and want their games there. Like how they view pc as separate. But with PS4 they realize the direct competitor aspect to it and withhold games. So much for wanting as many people to experience the games. What about the 90+ million games with ps4?

This is one more example of ms saying one thing and doing another.

XiNatsuDragnel1710d ago

Interesting now they're supporting their own platform again.

Zeref1709d ago

Brother, if you paid attention, you would never think that Halo was coming to PS4 at any time. I still believe they will release xCloud for the Switch and some smaller games. But PS4 was never gonna get anything. That notion was ridiculous and that's why I want to end this world and create a new one where we can avoid stupidity like this.

Krew_921709d ago

Did people honestly believe that? That's kind of wild. I see arguments that their games will end up everywhere just because they release all their games on PC now, too. Yet people fail to realise that Microsoft owns Windows so in a way they're still exclusive to Microsoft and certainly still exclusive to their console, if you dig deep into it.

XiNatsuDragnel1709d ago

Brother I was listening and for awhile all games were going to different platforms

bishup251709d ago

"Microsoft has "no plans" to release more Xbox exclusives on PS4 or Nintendo Switch"

because sony bought the carpet right from underneath them. what do you expect.
no more insomniac games.

2pacalypsenow1710d ago

"more"

Have they released any exclusives on Nintendo or Sony platforms?

mrmikew20181710d ago

Minecraft on everything and a good amount of their other exclusives on the Nintendo switch.

2pacalypsenow1710d ago (Edited 1710d ago )

But Minecraft has never been an Xbox exclusive.

KickSpinFilter1709d ago

Well mindcraft was on PS3, long before Mindcraft being acquired.

Zeref1709d ago (Edited 1709d ago )

They don't Develop/Own Cuphead, They don't Develop/Own Lucky's Tale. They Own Ori but they don't develop it.
Even if you count those. How is that a "good amount" ? It's only 3 games lol.

Minecraft is an exception. We've been over this a billion times.

zoramax1710d ago

Ori, Minecraft and Cuphead were all games MS allowed on Nintendo/Sony platforms, they could have chosen to make the exclusive.

2pacalypsenow1710d ago

Those games were already on PC and Minecraft has been on Nintendo and Sony consoles since before MS bought them.

PrinceOfAnger1710d ago (Edited 1710d ago )

"Ori, Minecraft and Cuphead were all games MS allowed on Nintendo/Sony platforms"

Microsoft doesn't even own
Cuphead ip, like Ori , and the dev said Cuphead will not release on PS4
Didn't know Ori has been announced for PS4 where did you get that ?

zoramax1710d ago

@2pacalypsenow

MS could have easily removed those versions from sale and made it exclusive, obviously that would be stupid but if they wanted to they could.

@PrinceOfAnger

Ori/Cuphead are coming to Switch, thats what I was referring to. And I think you are right that MS don't own Cuphead but I think they get a say on where it releases because if I remember correctly it was part funded by MS.

TheUndertaker851709d ago

The only version that didn't have to happen is the Nintendo Switch version. Mojong had contracts in place to produce the other versions before Microsoft purchased them.

You seem to not know what a contractual agreement is. Further I don't think you understand how rights to IPs work. If you do based on your logic Sony could've stopped Spyro and Crash from going anywhere but PlayStation.

Christopher1709d ago (Edited 1709d ago )

@2pac

***Those games were already on PC***

So are all of Microsoft's upcoming exclusives. I don't get how you would make this part of your argument seeing as Microsoft will continue to put their games out on PC.

I think this statement is more an assurance that Microsoft will support their platform with content that won't be available on the other consoles, but I also think it's likely these second party games will continue to make their way elsewhere after a year of console exclusivity.

@2pacalypsenow

"Have they released any exclusives on Nintendo or Sony platforms?"

Ori is comming for the Switch

Zeref1709d ago (Edited 1709d ago )

That's 1 game and they don't even develop

Just do everyone a favor and bring Rare Replay to Switch

Sciurus_vulgaris1710d ago

The Switch probably couldn’t properly emulate the 360 titles in Rare Replay.

Automatic791709d ago

Just do everyone a favor and stop drinking the Anti X Gatorade. The one year deal is over. Time to let Xbox go full force on Xbox.

RizBiz1709d ago

It's time for XBox to finally die. It's been on life support for far too long.

Microsoft’s Surface and Xbox hardware revenues take a big hit in Q3

Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.

Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.

Xbox hardware revenue tanks to lowest point of Xbox Series generation

Profchaos1h ago

I'm not surprised surface is struggling they aren't relevant anymore

XBManiac34m ago

Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.

SimpleDad19m ago(Edited 18m ago)

"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."

That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.

Sony Patents To Prevent You From In-Game Harassment By Reading Your Emotions

A new patent recently published by Sony wants to gather biometric data of gamers to track whether one is being harassed using AI tools.

Profchaos1d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I hope this is one of those patents that never comes to fruition.

I already dislike the fact you can pay a significant amount for a online service buy associated games and content on said service and get banned from that service over potentially a misunderstanding the bans are already handed out for flimsy reasons

I'd rather see money invested in a ban that simply removes the offensive players ability to communicate with unknown players allow them to continue party chats with friends but not with Joe blow on cod.

exputers21h ago

Agreed. Blizzard recently banned a college Overwatch 2 player who's dependent for saying "shit." Pretty harsh.

Profchaos6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

How rediculas really. You can't say a word that's allowed in most PG films and prime time TV but the game is based around killing the enemy team using guns, explosives etc.

It's just backwards.

just_looken8h ago

What your talking about is called block list

In 2006 a spaceship dropped of the playstation 3/xbox 360 i say that that generation was the last great gen with game functions/tech that has yet to comeback

Anyhow the playstation 3 if you block listed a id they could not talk to you in chatroom with either text or voice. But that was pre mind fucked 2018 when people were more human than sheep.

But hey gta 6 is coming out billion dollar budget without a single player custom character creator and without singeplayer coop off/online something saints row 1-3 had on the xbox 360.

phoenixwing17h ago

Cmon where's the pictures of your children. Don't hold out on them.

H918h ago

At this rate I feel Sony will eventually sell a room to play games in it where they can monitor your every breath

jambola14h ago

I genuinely get a bit worried sometimes when a friend says something that could be offensive In a party
Because I have no trouble believing some bans would happen when in a private party for saying something wrong

SegaSaturn66916h ago

I want them to censor erotic content by measuring my groin temperature so i dont get too distracted while playing black ops 2.

Popsicle16h ago

Terrible idea. Not only do I not consent to providing my biometric data, the potential for mishandling biometric data is almost a certainty. Positive stress and negative stress can produce similar changes in biometrics. Interpreting the precise emotion a person is feeling is not only invasive but could be easily misconstrued. I hope this never comes to fruition.
