The ps4 is the better option because it's better than the switch in every way possible from having a lot more games, a lot more highly rated quality games, a lot better looking games, better controller, better online system and so much more. The switch is better for portability which is the one thing it has over the ps4 but it has a 720p screen. When it comes to games which is most important on these gaming consoles the ps4 is way above the switch in this area.

The switch has literally a handful of third party games released this generation that started in 2012 with the wii u. even though the switch was released over 2 and a half years ago to replaced the failed wii u the switch is missing hundreds of games available on the ps4 and will continue to miss out on a lot of third party games releasing this year and next year. With the ps5 coming out next year the switch will be missing out on a lot of games for a few years to come.The switch has 90 percent ports and old games which to me is basically the equivalent of something like a bittboy. It's not even comparable to a ps4 that actually has a lot of new games. If someone's a core gamer and they had one console to choose from between the switch and ps4 then they should know the ps4 is the better choice by miles. Why would gamers want to be subjected to 90 percent old games that cost way more on the switch that are always the worse version of a game.

At this stage in the game, with the PS5 releasing next year, i’d buy the switch. It’s only 2 years old, has the highest rated exclusives this gen and has some amazing games still coming out for it.

The problem with the question of PS4 vs Switch is that a vacuum is being created. Now if you want to compare the two in that vacuum, your example doesn't make much sense. Switch has 14 games rated above 90, while PS4 has 30. So you would be choosing a platform with less higher rated games. Now I know what you are going to say, most of the PS4 games aren't exclusive. Well in this vacuum they technically are. Because most of the games are not playable on the Switch. The point of exclusives is to separate platforms, which in this case nearly every 3rd party game does because they are only playable on one platform, the PS4 (again, in the vacuum being created by the comparison). Even counting exclusives, the Switch has 5 above 90, while PS4 has 9. So if ratings were important, why chose the platform with less highly rated games? The only logical reason to chose a Switch over the PS4 is if you favor handhelds and/or favor Nintendo exclusives (regardless of scores).

But with the ps5 coming in the next year, it's a tough choice.

The switch (I own one) is a decent machine. But I've not played it in a few months. Since Pokémon let's go was a let down. So I wouldn't recommend it personally.

My PS4 Pro is all I need for my gaming needs due to my strong interest to buy & play most of the PS4 1st,2nd & 3rd party exclusive offerings this generation.I would have like to have obtained the Switch hybrid console but most of their exclusive line up I have no interest in with the exception of 2 or 3 titles & to me that just doesn't warrant a purchase.I just can't invest in a console that will just lay around my house & collect dust. My PS4 Pro is played everyday especially since I've been on a 3 1/2 month vacation from work which in 10 days will be coming to an end.....time flies when you're having fun!!.

Choose the one that has the most games you want to play. But personally I would buy both but if I could only buy one right now. Then maybe get a PS4 Slim and then buy a Switch during the Christmas sales. Or Buy a Pro now and then buy a Switch or Switch Lite during the Christmas sales.

PS4. Not really a debate.

Why?
Well, Switch is getting more and more 3rd party support but those games are often heavily reduced in quality to make it happen. I love that Switch is getting Witcher 3, has DOOM, etc but even the docked modes aren't going to be very pretty. DOOM is actually a great port and I'm sure Witcher 3 will be but games like the latter are REALLY pushing that Tegra chip. It's about maxed out. Many games simply cannot run on Switch no matter how much they downgrade.

Where as the PS4 will still be getting new titles that push it's hardware for a long while yet. Add in almost every 3rd party release up to date and tons of great exclusives...it's the clear choice.

However, you should ask yourself how much you desire Nintendo 1st party titles. If you're a huge Nintendo fan, this isn't a question you're asking yourself (haha). You get The Switch.
Those asking this question like all games and just want the best bang for their buck. That's a PS4 as of right now.

A Switch Pro of some sort may change that but by the time we see it we'll also see the next gen of Sony and MS offerings so it's basically a question of "how much do you need Nintendo properties in your life". If it's anything but "I absolutely need them", you pick a PS4 if you can only have one console.

Depends if you’re a hardcore gamer or not So hardcore is the way I look at them. Ps4 makes it easier for streaming & it’s much better for online gaming. But the Switch has a lot to offer too. The best 1st party games & great 3rd party support that Nintendo hasn’t had in previous consoles. Switch you can take anywhere & play games that you love, Even some online games like Fortnite, Rocket League, Dauntless is coming. Great games like Skyrim, Witcher 3 is coming. But all those games are on PS4 also & the performance is superior. But you can’t take them on the road with you. So it’s whatever you need or prefer. I prefer the Switch because it’s just a cool device that we have never had before in a hybrid system. Plus the Switch has Zelda games.

While Switch continues to lack in racing games while have zero excuse why not to have one.
Sure GRID Autosport will come but what about other current gen stuff?
