The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

100% agree, Falcom takes a lot of inspiration from persona. The Trails series as a whole is something special and worth the investment. I'm playing Trails from Zero Atm and it's great.

I really don't understand this list.

None of these games are really like Persona at all. DQXI and Tales of Berseria are great games though, and you should play them.

Tokyo Xanadu and Tokyo Mirage Sessions are the only ones that are similar in a way for this list. A Real list would include
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel
Tokyo Xanadu
Tokyo Mirage Sessions
The Caligula Effect: Overdose
Blue Reflection - felt like a attempt at being similar but ended up being pretty different with only a aspect of friendship really helping in battles being the only similar factor. Though this game has amazing battle music
I'll add World of Final Fantasy as kinda a stretch because the capture aspect and going into another realm. But that's a stretch. But not as big a stretch as this list lol

Great list and thanks for the rec on Blue Reflection. Will give it a look.

Nicely done. My favorite entry next to 8/9.

My second favorite after 3 and just ahead of 8.

When I played this game I was in disbelief that I had somehow not played this franchise. I absolutely adored this game, and have since played two other entries. Been saving the two on 3ds. Next entry is easily a day one purchase.

I had the same man, the goofy aesthetics always kinda prevented me from trying it, but boy was I wrong.

Keep 12 turn based for christ sake

Me too after the comments a few years ago. Hopefully the success of recent ones changed their idiotic thinking

Good. Prefer 4-7 with DS & PS1 graphic though, modest yet stimulating imagination.

Only DQ game i've ever played and one of the best games I've ever played , such a great experience . I wonder if the original ps4 release was included in these sales

RedDevils16d ago

Go play 8 if you like this one.

Miraak82 15d ago

i actually bought DQ8 on ps2 back in the day but mainly for the FF12 demo disc lol . I tried it but there were sooo many rpgs to play at the time that I think I played it for for a little bit before trading it in , maybe if they come out with a remaster/remake I'll try it out again

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.

That scene where you first see them attack is pretty crazy!

I remember being scared of the Asylum level in the most recent Thief game from 2014.
