The Escapist interviews Spiders CEO Jehanne Rousseau about their upcoming game GreedFall and how they hope it fills a void left by BioWare changing tack.
I can dig it
I would love that. The last great Bioware game was Inquisition. and that was in 2014.
I'm really loving the look of this game too. I said it somewhere else but this game looks like what the later Fable games should have been.
Those are big shoes to fill, and Spiders' recent games haven't been well received. Good luck.
If they can up their production value and polish they could potentially do it. Their past games are fairly rough in several areas mainly combat and general assets that give a clunky feel
They make average 60-70 rated games. They make pretty good games for a AA developer. I'll play this even if it is just like their others to help support them. I thoroughly enjoyed The Technomancer myself.
They have the capability if given resources. Technomancer wasn't 'bad' by any stretch. Just needs more polish honestly.
I heard it's pretty boring and repetitive to play so you recommend it?
It takes time and patience to get into, like most of they're game's, but if you like old school rpg's you can see that DNA the games along with the effort these devs put in
I would recommend it, but as mentioned it is not for the general masses. It is kinda like Elex. It lacks the polish of most modern games.
Home focus interactive have been killing in the last few years.
for me, Spiders, Elex developers are good developers, but they have very small budget. they have new ideas good ideas, or very creative ideas, but lack of funds i think firstly cuts animations, facial animations and goes to gameplay - combat stiffness. so they need to resolve this. Greedfall is good start, because from gameplays i saw, they work on animations and combat. let's wait for september 10th if it will feel the same as it looks.
I’ll never forget the California surfer type accent for the protagonist in bound by flame which is supposed to be some medieval fantasy game. It was awful but great at the same time. It kept me playing and I beat it. It’s the only game I played by spiders and it was definitely low budget but that’s okay sometimes. If this game has the same awkward charm as bound by flame I will def give it a go.
Seems like a clone of the witcher games honestly and it's a good timing cause people have been craving for a new game like the witcher 👍
This looks really interesting but I feel I need to wait until I see reviews from critics and consumers.
I dunno..I got Technomancer with Gold but I haven't tried it yet. One of the user reviews talks about respawning enemies every time you reenter an area and that's a turn off for me. The game also received mediocre reviews. I don't have high hopes for this game
They seriously lack the budget but good luck to them.
Spiders is a B level developer with a B level budget but their games have a lot of heart and soul to it unlike current Bioware, I hope their future products are a success and they can become like OG Bioware.
Yeah, I like the concept of Greedfall and hope they deliver an AA game with it.
I bet they do!
Good luck with that
