Gaming Boulevard wrote an opinion piece about Halo Infinite and Project Scarlett.
The official name of the upcoming Project Scarlett will suit the console's capabilities and doesn't need to connect to those of previous Xbox releases, Phil Spencer told Stevivor at X019 in London.
You call one question an interview? That wasn't even worth writing or reading, a complete waste of time.
I commented on FB that they shouldn't break up interviews for content a month after the event but they said they'd keep doing it, basically
xbox 360 "the center of that entertainment experience." theme - (based on planetary)
Xbox one - "all in one’." theme - (based on function)
"Project Scarlett name will reflect capabilities"
interesting.
I agree. I hate when sites break up quotes and make news stories of them. Trickle feed us
I've thought the numbers were stupid up until now. 360 wasn't a smart one, because the next one obviously wasn't going to be 361. Naming the next console One wasn't smart since it wasn't even the first. All their taglines talk about jumping. "jump in" "jump ahead". Maybe it'll be called jump ship 🤷🏼♂️😂
Lol jk people
Xbox one wasn't called that because it was the first, it was called that because it was suppose to be an ultimate all in one console
And it will be forever remembered as the xbone. One was actually a stupid name and there was nothing ultimate about it.
I´m both intrigued and excited.
I think Phil Spencer is gonna unleash another Beast! O.o
Very powerful console
9 New first party studios
More Studio acquisiton/creation
New IPs
Primary (and only) focus on games
More single player games
More RPGs
More support from Japanese developers
Scarlett is already superior in every single aspect in comparison with Mattrick´s Xbox One! I can´t wait!
Mattrick gave you forza, halo, gears, ryse, quantum break, state of decay, sunset overdrive, KI, timed exclusives yet Thai gen what has Phil done? Forza, halo, gears and thow in sea kd thieves? That's literally all xbox has had all gen and no it was mattrick who got ori of the forest.
Mattrick left after the backlash the reveal of xbox one got in "his vision" in 2013.
Halo launched in 2001, (6 years before mattrick joined microsoft)
I think you are misinformed in your statement sprinterboy
Sounds like someone paid you to say this 😂
What's up with the downvotes🤔
Pretty much every leak from confirmed dev kit holding developers has stated ps5 is a tad stronger. Source: Resetera.
Babadook that was the rumor before 12tf came out. Xbox was rumored to be at 10 originally. 12tf is well beyond any rumors if true
Those leaks were based not on specific tflop numbers but from developers comparing early games. If we confirm the tflops of scarlet we confirm the ps5 is the same or better.
Red is not Xbox's best color or description. We've seen that before and don't need to go around with that again as if we're going in 360.
So...if they use a digital LCD display on the front, would it become a scarlet letter?
That would be better than hearing a voice message that says "frankly my dear, I don't give a d@mn!"
Cue blowing of wind.. oh.. it's gone.
I thought 360 was a stupid name, and Xbox One was worse. I wonder what goofy thing they'll come up with next.
Its all about avoiding a serial number because they dont want to name it something less than the competition. “360” was 60 more than 3 kind of thing.
Or 3 times 6 = 666 but hey I'm just paranoid how could bill gate$ or micro soft has anything to do with satanism. He just wanted to vaccine everyone to control populations and xbox been pushing into anti costumers practices since day 1. Plus the obvious of video games industry . Now they are getting away with 5 millions costumers not owning the games and before they i introduce the greatest invention on video games charging us to play online thank micro transactions softly but firm they are getting awayeiththe most anti consumer moves.
360 was based on the console revolving around you.
It was actually a perfect name for the console.
Xbox one is just a retarded name.
Genkins first mac was priced $666 in the end all this people are the same psychopaths
The Dreamcast had a similar logo to a German toy store, hence the change in Europe . If a toy store makes you think like that, then you may have a problem.
the naming system for past consoles have been based on shapes, numbers, and planets.
except for dream cast. that is based on imagination.
everyone's naming system is that way though.
MS used shapes for naming consoles, whereas PlayStation puts them on their controllers to name functions.
Dreamcast is another stupid corporation satanism logo based on a Pedophilia symbol. Its disgusting
At the time, sega said it was the dream line up of technology companies and components making up the console, hence, the "Dream Cast"
@rainslacker
Milking? I´m for one gonna be surprised if the next gen Xbox game catalog turn out to be less diversed and genre varied than Sonys.
Santa Monica and God
Bend already said that they want to continue to expand and explore Days Gone world
Naughty Dog and TLOU
Polyphony and GT
Guerrilla and Horizon
Insomniac and Spiderman
Am i missing something?
Well they keep talking about it’s going to be the most powerful console ever so my guess is it will have a name based off that theory
We already had a console named XBOX, stupidest thing I ever heard when they name something twice with the same name
I hear things that have X in the title test as more popular with the younger crowd
Project Scarlett is a waste of time if MS doesn't start flexing with quality games.
That Minecraft trailer that MS dropped today showed a lot of weakness. It's pretty much says if you can't beat'em join them.
Minecraft is the best selling game in literal gaming history. If you're gonna base Bedrock as a reflection of "can't beat em join em," then I've got news.
You will be surprised what this corporation have been planning for a while. The new world order .. one world one religion. One entertainment system this console war its just to create the fight and the argument to coexist .. its all fake.
Haha the ignorance hate its funny. So sleep and hypnotize by the world cant even see it coming and call me paranoid hahaha every precident in the world by now its mentioning new world order is coming. And i am paranoid hahaha funny then all the president are also paranoid? You go play your gameand bend over while nwo comes in you. I mean as long as you get to play cod mw 27 you will be happy i am sure
i would say something but that would be to easy. lol
oh well! i can't help myself.
it's going to be called The Micro Transaction Box.
just having fun. don't get worked up about it.
It's too late in trying to connect their consoles anyways. They should call their next console "Xbox WHY?"
I was thinking the same thing. I can see their mantra: Xbox Play gamepass, play anywhere, play play, you can play, xbox play, just play, play on big screen xbox play, play, play, pay pay, pay, pay, play on small screen, play on you phone, play, all you can pay, play. Xbox play when you play.
They should call the console the XBox One2. As if to say it is delivering a one two punch in power.
Hey now thats not fair...... Xbox has outsold the gamecube and wiiu.
Xbox
Xbox 360
Xbox 360 slim
Xbox 360 E
Xbox one
Xbox one s
Xbox x
It's not at all embarrassing that they have released more models than they have outsold competitors consoles..... Next gen will be different for sure /s.
Should just call it the Xbox 4.
Tag line it with “Xbox for ____” in ads. Example: “The Xbox for gamers. The Xbox for everyone. The Xbox for everything”. Then talk about 4 generations of games to play, true 4k (games and movies), and how it ties in with streaming your library to the cloud as well as acting as Blades on XCloud service side of things too.
Just double down on 4, and how it’s more than just a console (while being a game device—not focus too much on non-gaming like the One’s reveal and tv executive intro). Keep it simple, but making the 4 a talking point beyond the number alone (since ps5 will numerically seem “superior” to some casuals anyways because 5>4).
Maybe just skip Xbox 4 and go straight to 5? Make it simple?
They did it with Windows 10, skipping 9, and no one really cared that much.
Xbox Infinity confirmed. Will launch with Halo Infinity and Forza Motorsports Infinity.
You will be able to get the Infinity bundle for one low price.
LOL. Or not.
Interesting that they are basically taking the Switch route. That's cool. I can't wait to see what it'll be.
Babadook7
Xbox infinite would be a good name.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
It is called Infinite...
Core console Xbox S&P (salt & pepper)
Cheaper console Xbox SS (secret sauce)
It's going to be called Xbox Infinite to coincide with Halo Infinite. Get it? Infinite capabilities...
I'm thinking something like Xbox Ultra
or xbox Omega.
Or maybe Xbox Alpha? Idk
Scarlett means red.
Red Ring of Death?
Microsoft's Xbox devision on code Red?
So it will be called infinite. Though for me i didnt look at this game because of specs but more of the branding direction for Xbox. Xbox is infinte forever and in infinite ways to play ect. Unless thats what he means but either way its a great name if they use it
The name will be Xbox X which is just Xbox because they’re idiots.
Here’s PlayStation announcing games, giving details on the PS5, showing how they will end the PS4 generation and what’s old Phil babbling on about? The name, the god damn name.
At the end of a console generation it's common to hold off on buying a console before a new one comes out. Xbox One has some reasons you should think twice.
If you own literally any other platform (PS4, PC, Switch), there are very few reasons to buy Xbox hardware at all, let alone right at the end of the generation when next gen machines will be fully backwards compatible with current gen.
I always owned all 3 platforms (Sony, Ms, Nintendo) when I could afford it because they all had something to offer in previous generations, so I want to be clear I'm not just bashing MS here, but through their decisions software wise this gen they have gone out of their way to make Xbox hardware redundant this generation.
I can access literally everything Xbox has to offer on my Switch, PC or PS4. That may be their plan in the long run to eventually phase into being more of a publisher, but it's just objectively nothing but bad news for their hardware division when you design your own consoles redundancy.
Same boat. While I agree the redundancy is good for me, I'm not really sure how it's good for MS.
Rumour as it PS5 might not be fully backward compatible with the PlayStation 4
https://bgr.com/2019/10/10/...
There was no reason for me to buy an XBO at the beginning of the current gen & there's definitely no reason for me to adopt one now.
I brought an Xbox one shortly after halo 5 dropped abd the only game I'd highly recommend playing would be sunset overdrive which is now on PC anyway
Matt Booty outlines Xbox's commitment to first-party studios and get our hopes up over the Project Scarlett launch line-up.
Microsoft can't even deliver one worthwhile exclusive all generation, how are they expecting to deliver one every 3-4 months?
@lellkay
"@Kingthrash360 gets it. DWYD"
Kingthrash360 KNOWS that Xbox is gonna deliver on games big time, so all he can really do is to sang the old song "Xbox only has Forza, Halo and Gears", as if 9 new studios means nothing. Smh.
😂😂 yall mad? Obscure you KNEW all generation MS was gunna deliver....but what happened...noe you talking about next gen when they showed absolutely nothing? 9 studios mean nothing when the talent level is so low. Yall mad at me, but I been telling yall for years xbox wasn't gunna deliver. They still haven't and they dont plan to.
Why would they when yall accept them how they are today? Why spend money to make better games when you already like the mediocre games that come already?
@lellkay
"Microsoft can't even deliver one worthwhile exclusive all generation, how are they expecting to deliver one every 3-4 months?"
Phil Spencer made Xbox Game Studios bigger with the acquisition/creation of 9 new first party studios! Total of 15 first party studios!
Do the math! I´m sure can figure out how they plan on release those games on your own. ;)
@Obscure_Observer adding more studios means nothing if they don't know how to use them. What good is adding more, when they have proved they can't produce anything worthwhile with the ones they have?
There is more to having a first party roster, than simply buying studios and saying "look we bought studios!!!" it's about having a vision and managing the studios properly. Microsoft have proved ALL generation they have no idea how to do this.
Not saying they can't fix this, but why should just suddenly put trust in them, they need to prove they have even an inkling of an idea to us first before we start cheer leading them.
I'm telling you now, Microsoft have bought all these studios simply to pump out gamepass filler crap, quantity over quality... stuff like Bleeding Edge and Grounded... they have less and less interest in big AAA exclusives and they prove it over and over.
For one that’s ridiculous and two they now have the most first party studios in gaming so content isn’t gonna be a problem. They are investing in gaming on a scope that Sony or Nintendo couldn’t dream of competing.
@Donnie81 You literally didn't read what I said. Quantity means nothing when they have proved they have no idea how to manage their studios and IPs.
Sony and NIntendo couldn't dream of competing? Didn't MS just up their studios to the same number as Sony has? Or MS has 1-2 more now or something. As far as I can tell, Sony still has more top tier and top rated studios, and Nintendo still pumps out 2-3 high quality games a year, with both having GOTY contenders year after year. MS hasn't had a GOTY contender all gen, but somehow, Sony and Nintendo can't dream of competing?
Sure....that makes sense.
Just because MS brought a lot of studios doesn't mean they're investing in gaming on some huge scope the likes of which we have never seen. They're looking to up their game library, which is great, but don't over-exaggerate what it is just to bring the competition down. The article talks about bringing a new game every 3-4 months. That's great, but if they're just these indie style or mid-tier games, which is likely, is it really MS investing on a scope that Sony or Nintendo can't compete with?
Think about it for a minute. Sony and Nintendo both get lots of content that Xbox never will. They have indie and mid-tier content in spades, so while MS is competing with 3rd party content that they'll never get, the fan boys get the chance to say how MS is killing it, but they are just bringing themselves up to the competitions level.
You guys really think it's that simple huh. . . . .
There's more to it than studio numbers but that is a step in the right direction.
@LordJamar I own an Xbox One and have since launch. I'm just not afraid to criticize a poor product and poor direction. Who's the real fanboy?
@ricegum. Fact: horizon comes out every 2 years and has been very well received. If you don't know that. I don't know if we can trust anything you say. But, please tell me what console racing game is better?
@alvira81 is absolutely bang on the buck.
Its so refreshing to see someone who can see right through gamepass.
See it all depends what you are into.
For me forza Horizon and Forza MS have been my 2 most played racing games and Grid coming a close 2nd.
SoT has been alot of fun with my friends OK its not the best game in the world but then again it's a really fun MP game and that's all that matters.
Cup head was also alot of fun.
Halo 5 lost its way but again tmcc had kept my fps needsbunder wraps as I feel all fps games this gen have felt under par.
KI is my most played fighting game to love how its evolved.
Gears 5 I also really enjoyed and feels like gears is back on top again.
Really enjoyed QB loved what they did with the story and for me is better than the new one just released on MP. (forgot the name haha)
It is a matter of your own tast though. For me this gen across both Microsoft and Sony have felt half done compared to what we had last gen for me the most fun console with the games I have liked the most has been the wiiu. But as I said each to there own. Some will agree others will not.
That said due to life getting in the way and this gen not grasping me like the last one I've moved from consoles to pc gaming as fits my needs more.
With the amount of studios they have working, they could all definitely put themselves in a development cycle that could see a new game every 3 or 4 months.
Now will they be worthwhile? That's up to the individuals own taste.
Big promises like always, hopefully this time they deliver unlike every single other time.
Those studio acquisitions got some people shook!
Thing is, after Days Gone, Shenmue and Death Stranding, people are running out of ammo in their arsenal to deride any games that now 'wont be to their taste'. Its going to be a fun next gen
'Now will they be worthwhile? That's up to the individuals own taste'
Truth.
The more you have the more chances of a hit
'Those studio acquisitions got some people shook!' Lol. . . Some people have been shook about xbox all generation right. ! Lol
First they ask for content, when the content is on it's way they begin to trash it.
You wonder why true gamers dont take keyboard warriors serious.
True gamer? Is that like True4K?
People question the nature of the quality. Not them saying they'll do it....although there is some of that too. MS has been saying all gen they're going to have games. MS has said all gen how awesome they are, along with their fan boys. MS has said all gen how awesome they're going to be. The games they just showed don't really scream huge AAA big name franchises.
People question MS because they've been pretty crap all gen. It's not the keyboard warriors fault that "true gamers" can't call out MS when it's prudent, or not just give them the benefit of the doubt because some MS exec says so. MS did it to themselves, and it'll be a while before people can reasonably say that the criticisms are no longer justified.
@Automatic79
We asked for high quality content, and they have failed to deliver that time after time. Nintendo and Sony smash it out the ball park year after year with GOTY contenders most years. Microsoft pump out let down after let down.
Stop trying to play the "I'm a true gamer" card. You ain't a true gamer if your happy to consume low quality garbage instead of expecting the best. It puts you on par with a casual mobile gamer who plays low quality trash. Get out of here.
@AngelicIceDiamond I don't know HOW MANY times I'm going to have to explain this.
Adding more studios means nothing if they don't know how to use them.
I'm telling you now, Microsoft have bought all these studios simply to pump out gamepass filler crap, quantity over quality... stuff like Bleeding Edge and Grounded... they have less and less interest in big AAA exclusives because the incentive isn't there for gamepass. They want quick releases and potential repeat monetisation, how else will they maintain gamepass?
@lellkay I can take apart your entire argument *cracks knuckles.
"There is more to having a first party roster, than simply buying studios and saying "look we bought studios!!!" it's about having a vision and managing the studios properly. Microsoft have proved ALL generation they have no idea how to do this."
Considering this the most studios MS has ever gotten in in all of Xbox life time where is the proof that MS can't manage these studios? 6 years back MS never had this many studios to even judge how they'll manage its studios now so you don't know at all.
"Adding more studios means nothing if they don't know how to use them. What good is adding more, when they have proved they can't produce anything worthwhile with the ones they have?"
Ok MS will use the studios like how they use Turn 10, 343, Rare and Coalition. Gears released a few months ago with great reviews. Forza some how gets better and better with bi annual releases. Halo releases next year, SOT is still being supported while Ever Wilds got announced on top of an undiscolsed new AAA project from Rare. Not sure what you're talkin about.
"I'm telling you now, Microsoft have bought all these studios simply to pump out gamepass filler crap, quantity over quality... stuff like Bleeding Edge and Grounded... they have less and less interest in big AAA exclusives because the incentive isn't there for gamepass. They want quick releases and potential repeat monetisation, how else will they maintain gamepass?"
This old tired argument. Listen carefully MS has, NT, PG, TI and Obsidian. 4 new AAA studios on top of 343, The Coalition, Turn 10 and Rare. That's 8 total the rest are AA studios. So logically MS can pump out AA games that could be highly rated as Ori. Since AAA's take much longer to make why not have studios release AA games while they're still hard at work with AAA's? GP filler is a myth dead old argument because it logically makes no sense. How bout we concern troll something new or make up another excuse outta thin air now. We have creative trolls and fanboys I'm sure they'll find something to complain about.
"Considering this the most studios MS has ever gotten in in all of Xbox life time where is the proof that MS can't manage these studios? 6 years back MS never had this many studios to even judge how they'll manage its studios now so you don't know at all."
You know, Angelic, I remember back in the previous generation you were quite level headed and articulate, even if I did disagree with you on most things, but now you're thrown all reason and any kind of intelligent thinking out the window.
Tell me, if I'm jungling 5 plates on sticks and you can see I'm visibly struggling, rushing to keep the plates spinning, one of the plates even falls off and breaks, what in the ever loving hell would possess you to thinking I'd do better if you gave me 10 more plates to manage?
You ask for proof MS can't manang games. How about you open you're bloody eyes, smh. Sea of thieves, crack down 3, quantum break are just a few games off the top of my head that launched poorly. And ms haven't had a single game that come anywhere close to a GOTY contender. Hell, it was only after MS became a laughing stock meme that they started buying up studios.
But your precious MS have made yet another empty promise, so that means you need to blindly believe them and foolishly defend them from any and all rational and logical criticism. And if that means you have say some really stupids and illogical things... so be it.
@Captain from your first paragraph you're parroting the same stuff I've been seeing on here forever now. You're saying no matter what MS does they're gonna mess up like it's factual or written in the stars. That's a personal negative mindset that YOU have I can't argue against something that you feel personally about. That's literally a you a problem. Not a Me problem or MS problem but a you and you only. Because what you're saying us MS will fail no matter what they do every single thing they do will fail. That's in your crazy head your issues and problems that unique to only you.
"You ask for proof MS can't manang games."
You're not slick I said STUDIOS not games. MS has never had that many studios in the past ever. You said laughing stick meme when they bought up studios. Again you live in a separate reality where there's empty promises because you never acknowledge what MS is doing while the media has praised MS for fixing its 1st party studios. That's not in reality that's in your sick little mind. Fever dreaming that every single thing is the same with MS. You might wanna get help and fast.
I havent seen any PS4 exclusives, other that Uncharted 4, that i'm personally interested in. Sony has abandoned almost every franchise of theirs that I used to love playing on PS3. On the other hand I have enjoyed Gears 4, Halo 5 and Quantum Break. Different strokes for different folks.
Project scarlett isn't this gen. Comparing current gen to a gen no person knows outcomes to just shows who the fanboys here really are. That's like saying "who would trust ps5 with all the hacking that happened on sony?" No one knows just how secure ps5 will be no one knows how much content any next gen console will pump out
We don't mind waiting a bit longer focus on quality over quantity please. With game pass I feel like ms wants to release as many game as fast as they can which could mean less quality. But I will give benefit of the doubt to Phil and ms because we want more quality AAA games
Even if they are retreads, Forza Horizon says hi as it gets better with every release. Let's also not pretend Gears and Halo aren't also giant names; and with Gears now being at the top of its game, and Halo, hopefully, returning to form.
I want more new IPs. I'm hopeful what with all their new studios. Hell; I'm highly excited at what an Outer Worlds with MS money could be. They dropped the ball this gen, but let's not pretend they haven't put out good games.
Were you not paying attention when they said they now have 15 studios all cranking?
Maybe in your opinion.
I've liked state of decay and gears and sea of thieves and the forza game. To me they were worthwhile.
Stating something as fact when it is your opinion does not make you seem fanboyish at all /s
Well the expectation would be based on clear and hard lessons learned throughout the Xbox One lifecycle. Do you know how we know they have clearly noticed their fuck ups? The studio's they have acquired, and the studio they started, and the studio's they are continuing to look into buying.
Reiterating the same point everyone already knows that Xbox had a really shit generation is tiresome and old. Almost everyone is aware of Xbox dropping the ball this gen.
Three indie games, Forza.
Three indie games, Crackdown 4.
Three indie games, Halo ReRemastered.
Three indie games, Scalebound remembrance demo.
When PS4 launched it had mostly indie games and that was ok. But, now indie games are bad?
Itsmebrian
I'm sure you were one of those Xbox fans who tore into Sony for showing support for indie developers. So now Indies are cool?
Yeah, it was so ok, that xbox fans called it "the indiestation 4". That's how ok it was.
^you three are remembering things your own way. Just to be clear, indie games are fine and the whole mocking the PS4 was over their decision to finally embrace indie games when it released unlike their luke warm attitude towards them on the PS3. Keep in mind the 360 was fully embracing indie games long before the PS3 or even PS4 did. So MS has always welcomed indie games openly.
Games are games regardless how big or how small the team/budget/development time involved.
@Darth
Exactly, Sony was pushing the <3 indie marketing tour during the beginning of of PS4 and only seemed dedicated because of the limiting offerings during the first couple of years. But then ultimately dropping their campaign (pub fund) in favor of VR games which they even admitted.
I do like reading revisionist history that has once again been changed to fit the multiverse though.
Sony had indie programs all the way back on the PS1 and PS2. For those that know imports, their Simple series was an indie programmed that helped publish the games on disc. Some of those also made their way to the US through other publishers. Their initial PS3 indie program was antiquated from their past programs, but it was still there. Since then, they've been up and down with how they support indies, but they've never been bottom of the barrel. They promoted indies more at the start of the gen, but the overall support they give on a business level has remained fairly constant since last gen.
MS indie programs have been all over the place since they came into fruition. Never really terrible, sometimes not that great, pretty good right now.
It wasn't mostly indie games at the launch of the PS4. If that's the case, the same can be said for Xbox, because they shared almost all the same games. Yet, somehow, Sony is the only one that got labelled as IndieStation, despite them having more high profile games in the first two years than MS did. MS front loaded the launch, but they went through their own dry spell, and seems they forgot how to make it rain.
Thanks rain for the knowledge
Those early years seem to have spore one of the games of the gen and I much prefer a quiet portion of a gen than a quiet majority of a gen. Non indie games that scored higher than many of Microsofts games throughout this gen were released in that quiet period. Explain?
Darth. Sony always had indies they just never put them at the forefront. Microsoft had some smart timed and full exclusives in the indie segment but choosing to forget Sony had indies too is just as asinine. They improved this gen and marketed indies better and were ridiculed for it despite their ability to release indies as well as well as non indie games. Sometimes you just can't win
Lol gangsta is right and Sony themselves admitted they used indies for their own goal and have put VR as their poster child.
PS <3 Indies. Dont forget that campaign of Sony that the Playstation Nation rallied behind, when it was MS with the 360 that started off truly supporting indies only to now laugh off indies...
So why are indies actually scoffed at? Because they are low budget titles? Some indies have some of the most imaginative gameplay. If you guys can give props to a game involving a pregnant man walking around putting ladders down I'm sure you can room in your heart for some indie love :)
I wish Microsoft would release 4-5 great exclusive in a row before talking like they've figured it out. They talk like they run the industry when they're barely participating in it. It's time to execute the game plan and stop talking about it.
In a row as in one to two great 1st party games per year. If they can manage that then they can go ahead and release one every 3-4 months. Small steps MS, small steps.
I think he means just waiting until they've released a few great exclusives over a period of time. Not necessarily 4-5 in rapid succession.
MS has not earned enough trust to just take them at their word IMO. They're showing signs of doing what people say they need to do, but they haven't actually achieved it yet.
I guess it's about all they can do now though, given that they're trying to salvage a respectable next gen. It's what they've been doing most of this gen anyways, but it comes to a point of show, don't tell, which ironically is where they were at 3-4 years ago as well. MS really hasn't achieved anything yet, except buying some studios, but the results of that haven't really been shown for them to have so much hubris in their words.
@SkippyPaccino
"It's time to execute the game plan and stop talking about it."
Plan is already in motion as Phil Spencer had confirmed that he´ll continue to acquire and create new first party studios. Not to mention that Xbox Game Studios has been hiring big names from gaming industry in an almost weekly basis; so, to assume that the quality of Xbox´s games will be equal or worst than before, is just stupid and delusional.
Plan is already in motion you say? I've heard that so many times this generation and last. Guess we'll have to wait and see
@Skippy your wish will come true.
In 2020 Xbox Studios Delivering This
Xbox
Ori 2 Will of Wisp
Bleeding Edge
Minecraft Dungeons
Wasteland 3
Grounded
Tell Me Why
Gears Tactics
Wasteland Remastered
BattleToads
Flight Simulator
Cross Fire X
Psychonauts 2
Halo Infinite
The difference here is that they put their money where their mouth is and acquired a bunch of studios.
They acquired studios during the original Xbox and 360 years too. But you know.
@Atticus
What? Did they really acquire anything to this scale? Please come out with a better retort.
I think they should perhaps worry about quality before focus on such quantity. But I guess one is better than neither.
@Obscure
Well think about it.. Nearly all games that are out for Xbox are out for PC. If you have a good gaming PC, why would you choose to buy it on Xbox?
Kuduhater: "Me too! But im not some pathetic tantrum throwing toddler that has an emotional need to hate a brand! Thanks!"
Also Kuduhater: "Well considering ori and inside are better than any dull oscar bait games sony dish out, ill take an indie game from them over talentless movie games any day :)"

The only game I like on your list is Ori. I'm doing a wait and see approach with Halo:Infinite. Wasn't a fan of Wasteland 2
So everything you listed I will be able to play on my PC. Thanks!
#NoMoreExclusives
Exactly, Microsoft doesn't care that you buy the console, they just want you in the ecosystem. That will be more evident in this next gen if it isn't already. If it makes you feel better to say xbox doesn't have exclusives, go for it. Nobody is listening anyway.
And so what lol? At least now you dont have to pretend to not be interested in playing them.
Doubt a number of those games you listed in the 'TBA' section will be on Gamepass
- Phantasy Star Online is a free to play game (well, free in Japan on the PS4, on the Xbox you need to pay for Gold).
- Everreach isn't confirmed for Gamepass from the press materials I've seen - it's Xbox and Steam launch first with PS4 next year.
- KartRider Drift is another 'Free to play' game which MS forces you to pay for Gold in order to play.
- Sessions is confirmed as Game Preview, not Gamepass.
- Tunic doesn't appear to be listed as GamePass via google, just a timed exclusive on Xbox.
- The Last Night has no release schedule and has been in development hell since 2017, also no mention of being a GP title.
- Tears Of Avia has also been quietly delayed and was only touted as a launch exclusive, not GP.
So yeah, from that list, only a few (mainly the ones MS swooped in and bought whilst in development and their own games) are the GP ones. Not hating on Xbox or anything, just don't get why you've listed a bunch of games that most likely aren't GP titles - unless I missed something? However, the F2P (not free with Xbox) games aren't GP titles...
some great games on that list. I'm really looking forward to ori, wastleland 3, psychonauts 2, crossfire x, the last night, tunic and halo infinite.
hopefully the artful escape releases next year as well
They have more game studios than any publisher in the industry now. Got put up or shut up next gen
Microsoft is at 14, if you don't include Game studio publishing (which is helping find CrossfireX). Sony is at 12, that's including recently purchased Insomniac.
sony has 15 ;new San Diego studio ( not listed yet) ( separate from the show studio) and Manchester.

Not counting forwardworks for obvious reasons.
Not sure how you arrived at 12.
And don't forget that some of Sony studios are so big that they are separated in 2 and even 3 groups. Sony definitely has more quantity and with the talent to say more quality.
I'd be inclined to say that THQ Nordic probably owns the most game studios as they recently also a2quired Koch Media and all of their studios like Deep Silver and Volition. THQ Nordic are massive at the moment, they're sat on the biggest list of dormant IPs out there.
I just want a good game like horizon dawn zero or spiderman not indie games . Im disappointed with this gen games on the xbox hands down the worst gen release for games . Beside the racing and zombie series which I dont care for .. the rest is pretty much trash . Just give me something to be excited for .
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt; while I've already decided that Xbox is no longer a brand of interest to me, I would think that the studio acquisitions—which, according to them, isn't over—make it not so divorced from reality to see this as feasible. Naturally, having more studios makes it easier to be more prolific. 3-4 month intervals is kinda ambitious, but I wouldn't say unrealistic.
Conversely, I think that it is also fair to be skeptical of content quality, especially if they're committed to these release windows. It has the potential to be good news, but it also shows, in my view, that Microsoft's finger still isn't on the pulse; I think it would benefit them far more to say, "we'll release games when they're ready." The time between first party games don't matter if the games aren't great. The Xbox fans laughed at the frequent game delays on PS4, saying things like "Greatness Delayed," and yet, some serious gems have come from the time taken to polish those titles. Miyamoto is also accepting of the reality that game delays are helpful.
My point is, for the sake of their remaining community, they should totally retract this statement and emphasize that delays are fine. Right now, it sounds like quantity over quality.
Serious question is gamesradar pretty big or influential that the interview went to them?
Why is he giving an interview right after x19, shouldn’t the message be concise there, not strung out like this?
Why is he talking vs spencer what should be made of that? Not causing shit, just trying to decipher the marketing.
Most likely had a press pass and managed to get in an interview with him after the event. A few places got interviews.
They are likely put out a games every 3 4 months but the core fanbase has moved on now. Those xbox 360 days are now long gone
It had never happened before in the history of Xbox despite many promises so I don't believe until I see it.
That's a fair stance to take. Let's see what these new studios and leadership can do before we pass judgement.
Interesting times ahead, lets see what they deliver before calling it one way or another.
Bring out the mature AAAs Microsoft and please do not go politics like that other exclusive.
If you don't own the system then why worry what they release? Being negative just to be negative is so petty its cringey.
It's like some imaginary troll/fanboy trophy is given to these people. Grow up.
Sony will continue to release great content and so will Nintendo. If Microsoft can do the same and make its fan base a bunch of happy gamers then just stfu and move on.
Really depends on what is shown at next E3 or whatever event they choose to reveal it at......if they really nail it, then it could carry the Xbox.......that said, they definitely will not be putting all their eggs in one basket.....I expect a very diverse mix of games......MS definitely has learned from the xbox1 disaster launch.
No, it can't, you need other new and old GOATs to provide a great lineup
Who said Infinite would be the only game to launch with the Scarlett?
To this day I still find it hilarious and unbelievable how with all the hype that Halo 3, the peak of the series, received Xbox 360 somehow still sold less units in 2007 than it did in 2006 despite the release of such a prolific game that was meant to be a huge system seller.
Halo: Infinite could carry Xbox Scarlett through its launch period like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did, but Microsoft needs to make sure they have a consistent pace of release of intriguing titles to keep up the momentum after launch.
