GameStop share value is falling at a rapid pace and it looks like it may not live to see the next-generation of consoles.
GameStop's Memorial Day 2021 sale is now live. It runs between May 25 and May 31, and it features deals on games for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, plus PC accessories and collectibles. There's a lot to get to, so let's dive in.
GameStop is bringing in former members of the Chewy team to help transform its business.
There is a difference between video games and dog food this new switch still won't help Gamestop customers have lost confidence in Gamestop it will take a lot to win back that confidence of the customer. From lowball game trades, supposed trade console getting the once over cleaned and reset and all they did was throw it in another box to resell it. Bet the pet owners will be happy get a free bag of pet food when you preorder a new game.
Their treatment of their workers when the pandemic broke out is enough steer me clear of them regardless of any restructuring.
Chewy is more than just pet food, pet supplies would have been more accurate regardless the memes will pretty much make themselves here.
Idk, I get the feeling they'll just drain whatever left of that company, not that there's much left to ruin.
Black Friday is rapidly approaching and the sales are already starting. Check out GameStop's Countdown to Black Friday Sales starting November 14th.
If AC Valhalla, Dirt5 and maybe Godfall (I’ll wait longest for this most likely) have good enough sales I’ll consider them , it will probably be Best Buy or Amazon though. I hate getting “new”games without the plastic on them and a opened game with a sticker instead .Not much else really out that I don’t have or want . I probably want Dirt 5 the most as I don’t have a driving game .
Well they ever give in and actually push compelling sales, even on their deathbed?
I don’t expect all these game subscription services to be doing Gamestop any favors aside from selling gift cards to access those services
Amazon is doing more to kill gamestop than digitization. People just don't want to leave their house to buy things anymore (and who can blame them?), and with so much competition online, they can't hope to maintain the monopoly they have in brick and mortar.
Digital and streaming are just the beginning of these retailers nightmares that sell a specific product.
It's only going to get worse in the coming years.
GameStop will be around as long as consoles have disc drives and games can be traded. However their reign as top game retailer will be/is long gone and they need to re-imagine their company if they are to survive.
I went to GameStop a few weeks ago and and there was 3 workers in there. Nobody else in the store. I was approached by everyone of them asking if I needed something in particular and I had to say 3 times to 3 people I was just browsing.
Then they just stand there with me while I go back and forth between Xbox and Ps4 games I guess owning both is something mind blowing to them. Finally I felt like the game selection was very old and hardly had any newer games, 60% of their games don’t have the original case anymore. So I just said screw it my I’ll work on my backlog instead and left and that’s when these 3 workers started to get me to stay with rambling on about swag and COD preorders.
Long post I know but I still very much prefer physical games however GameStop is just not the place I want to go to buy them. And that’s a very big problem for GameStop.
ppl who cling to physical games are in denial. The end is coming.
Side notes: cheaper for distributors, less packaging, pollution and waste.
