Wii Can't Handle The Evil

Kdin Jenzen writes:

"The hype on Resident Evil 5 keeps increasing since there is still more information that everyone, save for the developers, do not know. However, in a recent interview Masachika Kawata, Resident Evil 5's producer, informed fans that the game would not be coming to the Wii, at least not for a long while. The stated reason for this was that the Wii can't handle the game's title screen, let alone the game itself. This seems a little harsh, considering the Wii is not as underpowered as many would think."

"Claiming that their Quantum3 graphics engine (shown above) will allow Wii games to come close to, if not look just like, Xbox 360 and PS3 graphics,"

This is the reason why Wii is bashed. Because developers try to give Wii owners hope for a good looking game, and then writers throw it out of context and say that the developer stated it would look exactly like a 360 or PS3 title.

There is a huge different between a game that can come close to 360 visuals, and a game that is on par with 360 visuals. Hige Voltage said they are hoping The Conduit will come close to 360 visuals.

I know this comment isn't very related to the article, but I had to throw this in before narrow minded moronic fanboy's arise just to say the obvious, "Wii can't do PS3 grafix!"

The part you're missing here is "if not look just like".

Thom,
why not provide the quote from HVS?
Because they have been taken out of context like hell.

"The stated reason for this was that the Wii can't handle the game's title screen, let alone the game itself."

IT wasn't even tested or whatever, the guy just said something what he thought was true. This claim pretty much puts a much worse tone on the Wii...the fact that he likes the hardware but at the same time sh/ts on it by making such a bold claim.
But then again, if the engine is to heavy even in the title screen then it could be true....but that would be the engine and not title screen.

And it's obvious most Ps3/360 games won't work on a Wii due the lack of power...but saying Re5 can't come to the Wii at all is just stupid.
Let's not forget RE5 = the new RE:4.
They could still make it worthwhile and not just simply dump down the graphics without doing something with the engine used for RE4.
Updating your engine can't do any harm.

Also I agree with Durffen

RE5 = RE4 with updated graphics. When I saw the gameplay video for RE5, I noticed that everything looked the same. Even the death animations. There's a great video out there comparing the two games too. RE5 could definitely run on the Wii.

Aside from the "HD" outPut and shaders (or whatever physics this game is using) it is not impossible to put it on the Wii.
of course there will be a difference in visuals but if RE:4 on the Wii is like one of the best RE's ever than i don't understand why they port RE1 to the Wii.

And in all fairness RE1 must be scarier than RE:5...Re:4 like Re:5 are more "action" than "scare moments".
So if that's the reason, the visuals to make things more "realistic" i think it's a waste in some way.
We all know RE:5 is not going to be scary at all.

And yes i have seen that video, and completely agree.

isn't this old news, besides who cares...
the wii has a buttload of hard-core, good looking games coming out, and capcom having sold a sh!t-load on this console wold be stupid not to release it, makes no sense cause the could just port it, besides what's so special about the title-screen... they're just hyping it up.
