Crispy Gamer: Gears of War 2 Review

Like in the first game, the ending of Gears of War 2 is open and a little unsatisfying. The finale (and subsequent blink-and-you'll-miss-it epilogue teaser after the credits roll) raises more questions than it puts to rest. Crsipy Gamer is not adverse to more Gears of War games -- in fact, quite the opposite -- but they will be interested to see where the story can possibly be taken. After all, humanity can only teeter on the brink of extinction for so long before epic declamations like "last remaining defense..." and "impossible odds..." start to lose their impact.

What's Hot: Superb visuals and gameplay controls; Tasteful new additions; Engaging single-player and multiplayer modes; Smarter AI; Exquisite pacing

What's Not: Ending raises more questions than it answers

come Gears of War 2 just dropped back to 9.2 on N4g's average review? Just curious.

Awesome game, it's one of those games that sets a benchmark of action and fun with incredible graphics. Hopefully, more games will be revealed by both Sony and MS in 2009, because it seems pretty dry compared to this year so far.

Halo Recon
Halo Wars
Alan Wake
Killzone 2
Uncharted 2 and GoW3 are both rumored

I'd say next year looks like another solid year for gamers personally.

Mass Effect 2

Microsoft should be announcing a bunch of new titles at the beginning of 2009. They always wait until the year starts to give their list of new upcoming titles for that year. Sony, on the other hand, you never know. They showed a trailer for a new God Of War game at the most recent E3 but with their track record it most likely means the game will be released by 2010.

the way they do things seems to be a total, biased mess.

and onslaught, GOW3 and uncharted have already been announced. GOW in '09. uncharted 2 in '09 as well unless ND brings out a new JaD first.

Heavy Rain, MAG, the Agency, White Knight Chronicles and EyePet. There are probably many more unannounced.

Anyway I hope that next-year all third party exclusives get ported to PS3 and viceversa.

I wanna see these games and series on PS3: Mass Effect, Left4Dead, KOTOR, Dead Rising, Ninja Gaiden, all other Japanese titles that didn't make much of a dent for Xbox 360 in Japan and every bit of exclusive DLC.

I wanna see these games on 360: Final Fantasy Versus, Metal Gear Solid 4, Kingdom Hearts 3, Quantum Theory, and what not. While these are less exclusives from PS3 to 360 than from 360 to PS3, FFVersus, MGS4 and KH3 are much higher profile, except for Mass Effect maybe.

I wanna see both Microsoft and Sony battle it on their own. I doubt Microsoft will though....

uncharted 2 and GoW3 are not rumored .. their both allready in development and both devs said so.. though the uncharted 2 is kept secret pretty well so far... but non the less both (depending on uncharted) will hit shelves next year.

halo wars doesnt look apealing at all to me,and there's alot of people that dont like or perfer RTS's.
halo recon is just an expansion, not a sperate game, and as far as infamous goes... thats a definite for 2009.
next year will be the best year for gamers in along @ss time.

yeah, I'm sure both games are in production but that doesn't mean they're coming out in 2009. that is why he labeled them as rumored for 2009. everyone knows Sony's track record for E3 announcements.

beavis4play4048d ago

huxley, new splinter cell, alan wake, halo wars have been "announced" for a long time. no insults here, both companies have issues getting games out on schedule. i think it's just the nature of the business.
