Sony's PS2 was one hell of a console. During its time a huge number of phenomenal games were released for it, but these 10 are undoubtedly the best.

Yes forget the creator of the modern character action hack and slash(whatever you call it).
A game that was supposed to be Resident Evil 4 yet Hideaki Kamiya took it to new levels with his unique vision and genius.

In my opinion if you're going to have an article about the top 10 games for a single system you should put only exclusives. 7 out of 10 of those games were also on xbox and/or game cube. Otherwise you should call the article top 10 games of that generation not of a system.

Personally I think it's a good list, but I don't think I could pick less than a top 25. There were just too many good PS2 games. Also annoyed that the website requires 10 clicks just to read.

I really wish they'd make a rpg like FF10 again. I hate these action rpg games, they aren't rpgs in my opinion they are more like Dynasty Warriors...
I have yet to find a modern 3d rpg that has high production values, English voice acting, and proper FULL turned based gameplay (if I want to sit there for 30 minutes deciding what attack to make I don't want a timer penalizing me).
If anyone knows of a game that plays like ff10 let me know, would love to actually enjoy an RPG game (hated that ff7 was changed to a hack n slash game)

DQ XI is great, I felt the same way about the art style, but it grew on me. Great combat, great story, if you like jrrpgs, you'll like it.

Not likely to see it on many Top 10 lists but Def Jam: Fight for New York is easily one of my favorite PS2 games, was playing it again this weekend.

MGS3 is way better than MGS2, especially Subsistence. Far better gameplay, story and characters. The last 2 or so hours of MGS2 are amazing though.

I never played Silent Hill 4 but I know it got mixed reviews. Is it really that good?

The game hasn't aged well at all. I wouldn't necessarily say it's "better", but I just personally enjoyed it over SH2. I guess I should have been more clear that I was stating my opinion and not fact. However reflecting on it some more SH4 was OK as a game... It's been literal decades tho and I have no means to play it anymore sadly.
