Yeah, I loved Old Blood and really enjoyed the Raven Software 2009 game too. In fact, I prefer Wolfenstein with more enemy variety and technological/supernatural elements so I was hoping Old Blood was a taste of what New Colossus would be.

Coop isn't guaranteed to work, there's been alot of issues for many people trying to play it online, wish they'd stop treating couch co-op modes like hep c or something and bring the feature back into gaming

To be fair, it's a game review. The chance that the ending is in the review are pretty good if they've played through the whole thing.

Yes there should have been a spoiler warning in his video BUT he describes his disappointment with the ending which is a lead into the segment where he shows it. That's a warning in of itself, not to mention you can pause the video instead of watching the ending scenes then complaining you got spoiled. No one forced you to keep going.

Generally you would show gameplay from the first half of the game, or small non-spoiler clips from later levels. You would never show the literal ending. That's unprofessional and bad practice.

Whereas I agree that the reviewer should have completed the game before even starting their review (which I won't get into as I've had this discussion many times before), you shouldn't include any spoilers or major plot points within the actual review.

I've not watched this review, nor do I intend to, but if they've included hints or detailed info about the ending then they shouldn't be reviewing 'new' games. Old games, like what AVGN does, sure. Those are old games and are treated differently, but a new game is a big no-no. Would you enjoy reading a review about a film a few days after release where the reviewer has told you about all the twists and the ending? Didn't think so.

All he had to say was that he's played the game through to its final conclusion, that's all. In my review, I stated I'd played it for around 23 hours and finished the story and 60% of the side missions. I didn't have to talk about the ending to validate my statement.

I don't trust the user count on Meta anymore as literally anyone can rate a game without owning it.

Judging by the number of people on Twitter and in the Steam forums who are giving opinions on the game, even though they don't own it and are posting these YT videos as their evidence on how they feel, the majority of Meta user reviews are basically viewers of these people posting their 'opinion' based on other peoples opinions, not their own.

How cheap do you need it? It released at $30 day 1.

It may not be as narrative driven as the other Wolfenstein games, but it still feels like Wolfenstein to me. Enough to enjoy it anyways as it isn’t quite the same either.

But after playing FC New Dawn, I’d take this over that divergent side project any day. New dawn to me was “okay?”, while this is at least low end of “good” to me to the point I enjoy it and don’t feel like I’m forcing myself to play it.
If it launched any other time of the year than summer though? I’d probably be playing something else.

Not because it’s bad, but because we know wolfenstein of today could be better. It’s that comparison to the other games that really knocks off a lot for many.

Can't stand Angry Joe.. Without fail, we share opposite opinions like 70% of the time. I'd give this game at least a 7 or 8. It's not as good as prior entries but it's still good.

It’s a good game, people are just pissed as it’s not like the other Wolfensteins from this generation. Not great, just 7-7.5, and most complaints wouldn’t be that big of deal if it was some different franchise with just two sisters fighting Nazis.

MTs are cosmetic and not thrown in your face at all—earnable in Game too (but no need to do it anyways). Emotes? Not annoying nor spammable—just a little buff basically. Enemies spawning? Happens in the others too if you don’t kill the commanders, it’s just more blatant in this one at times.

No pause kind of sucks since offline should definitely have that imo, but haven’t needed to pause in some battle anyways. Easy enough to just find a corner if need be and sit in a shadow out of sight.

My only real issue is my AI partner sometimes freezing up or acting stupid (well frozen once, rest is okay or stupid). Not a big deal as I think I’ve only ever died once so far (70% something main story and about same for side missions). She’s picked me up every other time just fine—it’s just I kill 99% of enemies without her help basically. So she’s more of a lifeline than anything else in my case. Played solo every moment of the game too so coop being forced isn’t true whatsoever.

For $30, it’s a solid shooter if you want something different but still want combat that feels smooth like Wolfenstein. The uberguards and other major bosses are the only significant bullet sponges imo, especially once you upgrade a weapon or two (I’m a storm rifle fan myself, use laserkraften or whatever some for bigger guys though).

$40 and you can play with friends that don’t even own it.

As I said earlier, if it was some new ip with sisters killing Nazis, no biggie imo. But I actually like the world of Wolfenstein so I’m fine with it.

It’s clearly been influenced by arkane’s level design too (Dishonored 2 in particular). Paris looks fantastic and it has a ton of ways to travel about via stealth or pure combat.

New Wolfenstein wasn’t old wolfenstein either—but it was a better transition for it in the modern gaming ecosystem.

YB is more of a stand-alone that plays even more like far too many new-modern shooters that rely on collectibles, light rpg elements, customization, etc over narrative. It’s sort of the 2009 hub based Wolfenstein mixed with those elements in a Wolfenstein world.

But I already knew liking it would garner dislikes although I could probably bet over half had no interest in touching it anyways. It’s far from some 3 though, but neither is it a “great” game let alone anything near a 9-10.

Something I noticed from that review was how unbearable the protagonists were. It was Life is Strange cringe levels of dialogue at times. I also really hate in games when characters won't shut up when I'm playing. I don't need characters talking every time I do anything in the game. A lot of dialogue in games feels really forced these days, like it's there just for the sake of being there. Maybe it's the devs way of making it seem more immersive, but for me, it's just irritating.
