The Mario Kart franchise has been a mainstay for Nintendo since the original, Super Mario Kart, launched for the SNES. Every Nintendo console and handheld since the SNES and GBA have gotten a release in the kart racing series.
Unsurprisingly, Nintendo's best-selling home console and handheld also have the best-selling Mario Kart games, according to shipment figures from Nintendo. Mario Kart Wii shipped 37.20 million units, while Mario Kart DS shipped 23.60 million units.
Ahead of MAR10 Day next week, Nintendo has announced its plans for the event. There are various things planned including activities, events, and game discounts. For Nintendo Switch owners, select titles will be going on sale for $39.99.
A full list of Mario Kart tracks that never got remade or remastered in future titles. Find out which ones haven't appeared in years.
It seems "all" of the DLC is on the card.
Still a shame all of Nintendo’s other racing series have fallen by the wayside while only Mario Kart gets attention from Nintendo
Strange. The only two Mario karts that I haven’t even played, let alone bought are the 2 top sold. I guess I just wasn’t into Nintendo in the late 2000s.
Remember first party sales are massively misleading due to a lot of them being packaged with hardware.
Mario Kart Double Dash will always be one of my favorites in this series.
Mario Kart Wii is still my favourite personally. The game wasn't balanced between bikes and karts but it just played so well plus had a great online scene.
