No, Pokemon Sword and Shield is not Using the 3DS Models

How is it sensible to block the transfer of Pokemon they’ve been creating for 20+ years when they finally have the infrastructure in place to be able to transfer from all previous gens (except3 currently)

Basically they remade models and yet they look nearly identical to the 3DS models. That's impressive in a bad way. They also reused exact animations from the 3DS games.

This is just Game Freak being pretty half-hearted honestly. They no longer see Pokemon as a top priority (they've said this before) so now it's pretty sub-par developing.

Those battle animations I seen were pretty bad, I think they should just reboot the series and build it from the ground up so the newer games won't feel or play almost exactly the same as previous iterations

they cant just delay or change things in that way, they have to follow the release dates of anime and tcg of trading card games, im pretty sure if a delay or reboot would fix it they would do it, nintendo is fine with delays as long as the end product is great, sadly with pokemon you cant just do it or as easily as people think.
remember the games on 3ds or switch gives them less money than the actual TCG and anime does.

Honestly I find this hard to believe and sounds like a boldfaced lie. There are MANY videos on Youtube showing the models and animations side by side and they are EXACTLY the same, you're telling me they actually spent time and effort making sure every animation and model was frame/pixel perfect to the old? That sounds like the biggest lie I've been fed all year. Why would you go through that extra effort? ESPECIALLY when the old animations were terrible already?

I understand why it doesn't have all the Pokémon In it, and why Gamefreak needs to start fresh. You presumably will be able to transfer your Pokémon from Sword and shield to the next Switch Pokemon game.

then you are part of the problem, you settle for whatever they give you instead of wanting more than the bare minimum, the game looks awesome? is it in your top 100 best looking/animated games? heck top 1000? i think not, all other rpgs out there are performing several times better than pokemon and having 1000+ models in the game is no excuse to cut half the pokedex and give us the same quality of the 3ds games when the switch can do so much more, to make no effort and having the game look like sun and moon with 720p graphics and thats on the pokemons and trainers alone, the backgrounds are literaly 240p upscaled, but sure its haters and the game its on your top 10 best looking/animated games.
theres a rumbling around this past days about a bootleg game on mobile that looks leaps and bounds above a company that has billions, but hey, has less than 100 pokemons excuse is so easy to throw around instead of talking about the difference in manpower and money gamefreak has over them.

this is why im done with pokemon and people who defend this game are the reason we will never have a game with great graphics or animations, they cut the pokedex for higher graphics and animations but we arent getting any of it, looks exactly like sun and moon in hd, reguardless if its made from scratch or remade, they all behave the exact same way as in the 3ds, even hop and the s/m rival move the same way...

If reviewers praised a dumbed down remake lacking content with Pokemon Lets GO and didn't say anything bad about Sun and Moon then yeah I doubt reviewers will call this out. Eddie you must truly live in your own little bubble, even some of the biggest Pokemon youtubers are complaining about this game, and rightfully so. The reason they give for no national dex is so they can focus on animations and making the pokemon as expressive as possible. Yet MANY side by side comparisons show they are using the EXACT same models and animations from the 3DS games, but now they are claiming they are not using the same models? But instead they tried to recreate them exactly for consistency? That literally makes no sense, why go through the trouble to make updated models, but make them look EXACTLY like the old ones with the EXACT same animations? That would require so much extra pointless effort, not to mention with that train of thought why ever update the models from gen 1? For "consistency" just keep using the same sprites over and over. Anyone falling for this lie is either willingly accepting it or a fool. This is so clearly a lie to try and save face, why make pixel perfect recreations of old models? Illogical. Not to mention the graphics look like they could be done on a Wii, or maybe even a gamecube.

There is a clear as day lack of effort and THAT it what people are upset about, and now they are saying there are pokemon cut due to how much effort they are putting in? Something clearly doesn't add up here to anyone paying attention. Personally I think Pokemon should take the call of duty approach. Have 2 different developers make every other pokemon game. As a youtuber pointed out, in an interview one gamefreak employee admitted pokemon is not their main focus anymore, maybe they are getting burnt out on the series? Let someone else come in, I don't care who it is, I bet they do better than gamefreak, heck I would LOVE if they let the people who made Colloseum and XD come make the next pokemon game, they did a REALLY good job with those animations and models on Gamecube hardware, imagine what they could do with the Switch!

Yeah, this article is BS and doesn't provide any evidence for it's claim, aside from a quote from an interview that in no way says or implies the models were being remade again. Couple this with the fact that when XY came out, Gamefreak said they were "future-proofing" their models by making them higher res than the 3DS could display so that they would be ready for *future* generations. The fact they look exactly the same when 3DS models are exported and rescaled should be all the evidence you need.

Go look at Pokemon Sun and Moon being played in 1080p on Citra, and then try to convince yourself that Sword and Shield doesn't look like a 3DS game. The community isn't being toxic, it's a combination of many disappointments that has led to genuine criticism. People forget that Pokemon isn't some small niche game, it has a huge mainstream following. Pokemon has pretty much single handedly for the last 23 years kept Gamefreak in business. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever that they can't hire up more people and make something so much more grand. I don't usually say this, but they're just lazy.

Last Gen and it didn’t go well it just seemed to dumbed down and the trials meh give me the gym badges let’s just have a proper Zeldaish open world dungeons etc to explore and catch em all. I thought that’s why let’s go got the green light as a stopgap for the main event and yeah what a let down first time in ages been not overly bothered about this next Pokemon I normally get both or try and get collectors editions gone for a bog standard copy less than £40 but still may get cancelled wanna hear and know a bit more first I’ll just finish ultra sun and let’s go otherwise as still behind on them and if really wanna play go back and play some of the older ones again I bought for VC.
All they had to do was do the 3 GBA Pokemon games and they’d have every Gen on 3ds I got 10 GBA games another 3 wouldn’t kill em haha it would prob be a massive boost for the entire series as with Pokemon bank etc all gems are transferable from 1 platform on to switch for latest Gen... except you can’t transfer over half of them now.. madness I tells ya

I say this as someone who has loved Pokémon since the late 90s, but the Gamefreak of today is not the Gamefreak we used to know. I'm afraid complacency and laziness has plagued GF for quite some time now.
