Not really a whole lot different than the first, take that as you will but I sort of expected more. Don't know what though. Visually it looks about the same as the first with a few more textures, less popping and overall pretty good. Been experiencing some skips in the cut scenes though (scary). Seems like they cleaned up the controls a little bit, you don't feel like a fat kid glued to the buffet all the time now. overall I think for me it would be about a 9 out of 10. just wish there was more new stuff

To be fair though the gamplay is much varied in part 2.

In the end Gears 2 is a fun game to play and thats what really matters in the end FUN.

I have been playing R2 as well for 2 days now and its an Amazing game as well.

the only thing new is you can run slower and besides that there really isn't anything new besides a few weapons the mortar is cool though and different enviorments yay im in a stomach haha dom's girl friend thing is really cheap haha i wont ruin it but -_- it's depressing how they really try to incorporate it.

i mean if you like gears of war i guess you'll like this one too but don't expect anything new and i rode my bike for two hours with a friend to different 7 11's to find it i wanted to play it too so i'm not just talking trash.

I see your point but in the end, Gear 2 is a fun to play. I had a blast. In the end this is what really counts. Yes perhaps the score is a bit high but then X-Play been giving out tens to alot of games recently.

i agree he is a dik..funny enough a lot of the Sony leg humpers and their fishhead brethen are spamming every Gears 2 threads and handing out spoilers...its not bad enough that they are so upset that all their fanboy speculation that R2 would get better ratings than Gears 2 and so got skull facked by all the great reviews...now they have to spoil the game for others....

however, Xplay's reviews blow.

it goes something like this:

Is the game a blockbuster exclusive from a major studio?

If the answer is "yes" then give it 5 stars and mention one very minor flaw.

If the answer is "no" then try to give it 4 stars or below and find a couple gripes to showcase in your review if possible.

rinse and repeat. It seems lesser known games really have to prove themselves above and beyond to get a 5 star rating while well known titles get a free pass. remember how when the Wii first came out and Xplay was all about how awesome it was and stopped just short of saying it was their favorite console but now that no one takes the Wii seriously Xplay doesn't either. It is like they try to reflect the popular opinion of hardcore gamers back at them so more people watch their show.

X-Play gave "No More Heroes" (for the Wii no less) a 5/5 when everyone else hated it.

X-Play was giving Psychonauts rave reviews when no one else had even heard of it.

But yes, lesser known games do have to work harder that goes for every form of media. Its not fair but, true.

X-Play treated the Wii like most people. They were really excited about this new inventive way to play, got it home, played it once or twice, then let the thing collect dust under the entertainment center and went back to theie PS3, 360 and in a lot of cases, their PS2.

Agreed, X-Play's rating system is'nt the best out there (I personally like GameInformer's where they actually tell you what each number means in their 10 point scale) but its better than the thumbs up/ thumbs down approach and much better then "It was awesome!" "This game blows!" rating system most fanboys have.

I remember all that crap when the first gears came out that DVD9 prevented Gears from being longer and that it pushed the 360 to its limit.

Looks more of the same last Gears. I will prolly pass on this one, I think this game is only for the hardcore Gears fans. Once you experience Gears youre kinda over it and wanna move onto the next game. At least thats how it was for me. Not saying that this at all is a bad game, but just too much of the same ole played all this before kinda game. Nothing new nor different. 3 outta 5 for me and thats being generous. Too hyped and lots of people will be very disappointed as this is the only game the 360 has had to offer this year. Very sad and has made me question my 360. Im on my 3rd even and still continue to give MS a chance. Might be time to sell it.
