Obsidian says it doesn’t want Outer Worlds to be ‘a politically-charged game’

Co-director says he’s been ‘very careful’ not to ‘lecture’ players with the game's story.

Good on them. I come for a solid story, engaging gameplay, and interesting world when it comes to my RPGs.

Not to be subjected to some developer's soapbox on how they want the world to work, or how I can improve myself.

I'm I the only one who find this comment with that username slightly ironic?

Sophisticated_Chap2184d ago

I agree, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, the Liberal news media and the video game industry has gone completely out of control, to the point where they are alienating half of their customers. I'm definitely more interested in this game after co-director's comments.

Eonjay2184d ago

No. It's about finding people to fear and eventually people will understand that it comes done to planting ideas in other people's heads. It doesn't have to even be real. You start to think that their is some liberal conspiracy out to get you and you live your life fearing some boogeyman in your head.

TacoTaco2184d ago

Am liberal, can confirm Eonjay.

Developers should be free to use their worlds and their games/universes for their own ideas.

The Outer Worlds doesn't want to have political undertones - those are the developers defining their product.

Compare that to EA, which has Mass Effect/Dragon Age (which features the radical left idea of "gays exist too") that are their own universe and creation. That's how they want to define their product. They are free and entitled to do so without it being leftist, just like Obsidian isn't being anything else by not speaking on this or that.

Compare that again to EA, which had everything with Battlefield 5. That is the wrong approach, and deserved the criticism.

"the video game industry has gone completely out of control, to the point where they are alienating half of their customers."

*math equation still pending*

Grown Folks Talk2184d ago

Always amuses me how many people get upset by commercials/art that basically asks people to not be assholes. Especially since they seem to be under the impression the statement doesn't apply to them. If you don't fit the description, why are you so upset? Awfully snowflake*ish.

What are you rambling about redey3?

I was suggesting that developers have the freedom of speech on their own products and creations. It seems that when that freedom of speech is used to promote ANY belief that "the left" rationalizes with, all these people that "care" about games being non-political and freedom demand that these developers stop because it's just so "Liberal".

You are making this about... Race and corporations... To take away from my point which you didn't even comprehend? You miss the entire point of freedom of speech and expression *completely*

Can't wait for Polygon to rip it because it doesn't put-down people who disagree with them.

Hatsu122184d ago

Literally the entire media: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEE

Inzo2184d ago (Edited 2184d ago )

Good for you. The beta males at Polygon and Kotaku all just curled up in a fetus position crying.

Noskypeno2184d ago

I thought they would be filled with butch lesbians by now.

ajax172183d ago

Beta males is too good for them. They're omega males.

Srhalo2183d ago

It's weird all the "internet alpha males" I know are incels. Funny how that works. Probably insecurity.

Inzo2183d ago (Edited 2183d ago )

Your comment is contradictory. If you know "internet alpha males" and know that they are incels then by definition you must have met all of them. So, have you? Do you have evidence to support your claim? No? Of course not. Funny how that works. Probably a beta male

Srhalo2183d ago

Why did you feel the need to reply, are you insecure?

A true alpha wouldn't have needed to reply to me.

Inzo2183d ago (Edited 2183d ago )

Really? Then you dont know what true alpha male does because a true alpha male defends his turf. But this is the internet, filled with keyboard tough guys. Am I one of them? I guess we will never know

Surly you must see the irony in your reply to me.
