What Is Alan Wake And Why PS4 Gamers Should Care

From PlayStation Universe: "So, you’ve heard the news that an Alan Wake PS4 release could be in the pipeline, after Control developer Remedy nabbed the publishing rights to the franchise from Microsoft. Big deal, right? Well, yeah, it is pretty big, actually. Alan Wake is a cult favourite for a reason; not just because its core gameplay loop is so compelling and rewarding, but also due to the fact Remedy’s psychological thriller manages to create its own identity and stand proudly as a unique experience."

Great Game. If it comes to PS4, you guys should really play it. Loved it

I played this back then. I really enjoyed it, its no Silent Hill but had its own eery story telling style. I would get it again if it appeared physically on ps4

I replayed it again about 2 years ago and it still holds up really well. If it wasn't for red dead redemption releasing at the same time this game would have been huge imo

I was always called a "ps4" gamer, but I have played alan wake on 360 and I own it on PC. I feel like people who didn't seek it out probably really don't care, I think having Alan Wake 2 with a next gen feel is more important to a lot of new comers and then releasing a bundled Alan wake/american nightmare to the PS4 and switch would work more to their advantage as it's probably cheaper to port those games and you would've already peaked franchise interest with the promise of a new one.

I disagree. The story is core to the franchise and where it was left off can't just be picked up without prior introduction. Hook the newcomers with a PS4 port (with DLC thrown in), then use that income to fund part 2.

Lexreborn21750d ago

Thats fine, I know some people will feel differently. I just don’t think it’s a gameplay that holds up personally. And it could leave a sour taste in new comers to the franchise having them avoid the progression of the franchise

It was pretty good, not as great as many people claim. The premise was pretty cool and unique though. I could see a lot of potential in a sequel if done right.

MS fans should care too because it lays bare just how committed they are to AAA single player games e.i., not at all committed. No question a deal was there for the taking; I will be more than happy to play an Alan Wake remaster/sequel on Playstation going forward.

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Knightofelemia20h ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie12h ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie12h ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
