Review: Spider-Man: Far From Home VR Experience - PSVR | Pure PlayStation

Pure PlayStation: This isn't a full game; it's a free "experience" which is actually just an advert for the upcoming movie. Go in remembering that and you'll kill a half hour at no cost to yourself. It's not going to be something you'll come back to in the future, but it's worth the download just to have a go at swinging around New York for a bit before the repetition wears thin.

Speak for yourself. I'll come back for the web slinging because it's fun to do like the old Spider-Man 2 game.

It's not a full game. It's free, playable advertising. They didn't spend millions producing it like Spider-Man PS4. But the concept experience definitely deserves a full game when there is fun there.

Hopefully Iron Man VR "the game" will show what money can do when the game is backed by it.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a free PSVR romp we want turned into a real game

With Spider-Man: Far From Home swinging into movie theatres on July 2nd, Sony has released a tie-in game that’s completely free to download and play right now. The only caveat? It’s a PlayStation VR exclusive.

VR content just gets better and better

CrimsonWing692136d ago

Hopefully next-gen we can get full VR games like this!

Would be the dream. Hopefully Iron Man, as a full game and not a "VR Experience", will be great.

I agree. Seems as usual, this journalist doesn't do research that you can play it on all top VR headsets. Not just PSVR. Sony is advertising the movie to everyone and will have HP Reverb headsets set up and back packs at theatres for show goers to try.

But this free, experience/proof of concept definitely deserves a real game. The web slinging is very fun. Tired my arms out playing for hours just doing that.

oh no doubt, I was most certainly not trying to throw shade at the PSVR, just make a point that anyone with access to a VR headset can try out this experience. As you said before, once you get really good at the controls everything is pretty darn amazing. That running jump off the building can be quite exhilarating. :)

I couldn't figure out how to beat the giant robot in the beginning... I must have heard "I think it's working" a thousand times.

You have to continue to web shoot at the concrete parts. You can also shoot down the flying bots. Took me a bit to figure it out

Neonridr2135d ago

as bones said, you need to remove his armor which is made up of the actual road by shooting at it with your web. Stop the bots from regenerating his armor.

This 1st Spiderman VR experience was 🤢

Phoenix762137d ago

No not really. There is/was a spiderman homecoming vr experience available on the ps store under the "apps" banner.

It's, as they say, "janky." But it is fun swinging like Spider-Man. Almost as fun as swinging in Spider-Man 2. Yeah. That game. A lot of gamers that have tried it are saying the same thing.

Remember how fun that was? Free mode in Far From Home is fun like that. I can swing for an hour and for some reason, it never gets tiring. Except for my arms. When you know what you're doing and you're running across buildings, jumping across rooftops and swinging, there's a sense of glee doing it.

It's free and seems like a proof of concept. If PS4 Spider-Man gets a VR city swinging mode on PS5, that would be so awesome.
