I hope it’s not as bad as this reviewer’s experience. My copy is on the way, and now I wish I just got the PS4 version. 😔 I will probably just exchange it.
I backed this thing on kickstarter. Got the physical edition for PS4 and a digital copy for my Switch. This is the first I have heard of any problems, so I wouldn't necessarily take one person's experience and suddenly label it as commonplace.
That's good to hear Neonridr, have you tried it yourself on Switch yet? I picked it up for PS4 anyway, but it's the kind of game I'd like to take on holiday with me on Switch in the summer.
@LoveSpuds - after doing some digging it appears I had it backwards. I have the Switch physical copy (which is in transit and should be with me in a few days) and I have the PS4 digital version. Sadly I can't install it on my Switch yet to try it out. But there's a framerate video on this site that shows it's basically locked in docked and minus a hiccup here or there it's very stable in handheld mode too. Sure it won't look as good as the PS4/XB1 but I would hardly call the Switch version ugly going off that video.
The graphic aren't the issue for me, its the alleged "5 sec frame lockups" and the "10 sec input lag" thats mentioned in this article, that frightens me. I don't understand why Switch would struggle with this game.
Another reason why the Switch should get zero third party games. I'm playing at 4k 60 Extreme on PC.
Careful, people will downvote you just because Switch is bae. lol Its a toy console, like those kiddy computers that say the COW goes MOO!
Let's see you play Breath Of The Wild, Smash and MK8 sitting outside in the middle of no where with your PC. Nitwit, it isn't meant to be a PC. It also isn't priced as one. By the way, I am in my 40s. Been a gamer my whole life. Consoles are easier and I don't have to upgrade constantly. My X1X plays games nicely and look fantastic on my 4K 65 inche HDR TV. So do my Switch games! For only weighing 10.4 ounces and being over 2 years old, can put out some great looking games.
Try harder, troll.
Or you could just wait a few days/weeks for the incoming patch. If playing on the go was indeed your primary reason to purchase it for the Switch https://www.videogameschron...
Too bad. After seeing it on PS4 Pro, I was worried about the Switch version. The game plays great, but it feels like it is using lots of processing power. It is just a feeling I get when seeing the game save and swap screens, that is was using more resources than it looked like it should. That said, the game is great and runs great on PS4 Pro at least. I even love the graphics, and that surprised me. The use of lighting is great.
Which is why Im pissed that Hollow Knight Silksong is console exclusive to Switch at launch. I never play portable so I rarely get multiplats for Switch. You tend to pay more money for the worst performing version.
Hollow Knight Silksong will sell the best on Switch, why be pissed? It makes total sense.
Damn! I had the choice of all formats, but fancied having on Switch so I could play on my lunch breaks! hope they patch up any issues!
exactly only reason I wanted it for switch
I read a couple months ago that there were issues with the switch version. Hope it gets resolved for those that bought it. It's a great game.
720p 30fps on Switch. 4k 60 fps on PS4. Switch is killing it. Where´s the moaners and complainers that his game is 30fps as like Crash Team Racing? lol
Its not surprising. The switch is not a very strong console, hardware wise. The fact that BotW runs so well is due to Nintendo finessing the crap out of it. Anyone who doesnt do the same will see their framerate suffer. Rocket league is pretty much unplayable for me going from PC 120fps to 30fps.
InflectionPoint True, but the game isn't some graphic powerhouse I just don't understand how the game can't run smoothly on the switch. It looks like it was a bad port job.
Thats exactly what I'm thinking...this game is 2D, right? Switch should have no problem with 2D or even 2.5.
30 fps should be banned...it's not 1991.
All games were in 60 fps back then, LMAO! xD
Damnit I preordered on switch yesterday. I knew I should have gotten xbox. I just wanted it on the go
You can return it at walmart stores. Keep it unopened. Take it to Walmart and say you lost your receipt. They will give you a gift card refund
I preordered it on Amazon kind of impulsively yesterday. I canceled it now which as long as they didn't ship it should go through. If not I will end up doing what u said lol
I have physical copies of Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch all from Kickstarter. I purchased the Nintendo Switch version for a portable version to play anywhere but I will just return it at walmart to get a gift card
Why did you buy it for every system? I mean, it’s cool. I’ve bought games for multiple platforms myself in the past too. You explained, and it’s obvious why people get the switch versions. But why an Xbox and PS4?
Franwex because they were supposed to be KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE EDTIONS. I wanted to have the Kickstarter exclusive edition for all my consoles. Very simple. Your question keeps getting asked over and over and over again. And I am getting tired of answering this same question over and over and over and over again. It turns out they changed their minds and they are not Kickstarter exclusive editions. All the Kickstarter exclusive DLC will be available to everyone. So I got screwed over. I am going to get a gift card at walmart for my switch version so I'm good now
Oh. I see. Sorry I bugged you. I thought there was exclusive characters or something like Shovel Knight to a console. I may not have noticed you answer the question in other posts because i may not have seen it. I’ll make sure to remember all your posts from now on.
I just checked metacritic and its pretty bad on the switch, all the user reviews are horrible for the switch. I have to pick mine up later today for the switch from a best buy pre-order with the metal case. Im going to change it for the ps4 version. Damn I really wanted it on switch
We'll see when it arrives. I wouldn't play it otherwise if it wasn't on the switch honestly. So if it runs as poorly as the author makes it sound, which I doubt, it will stay on the shelf till a patch and I'll continue down my huge backlog of other games.
Don't doubt the author. Impressions of the Switch version are overwhelmingly negative, from the graphics which took a huge hit to simply how the game plays, which is significantly lesser for a myriad of reasons. The Switch version needed way more time in the oven.
Don't play it on a rubbish console then...
But...But... The Switch version is the best because its portable ...Lol
Come on, it is not like this game has intense graphics. There is no reason for this to run poorly on the Switch, especially at 30fps. I have seen better graphics, on Wii U, let alone Switch!
I'd imagine it got less dev time. It was originally supposed to be on the WiiU.
I bought it on Switch. If it's real bad I'll just wait 2 or 3 weeks for a couple patches.
I am still hoping for an Asassins Creed Remastered patch.
They seem to be saying they are going to aggressively pursue patching it. We'll see I guess.
I got my copy on PS4. The game is awesome.
B-B-But best version?
LOL!! That's what those articles always say.
Still have my day one copy that I haven't opened up yet to play on my Pro due to catching up on my backlog of games. Hopefully I won't be saying the same but it seems the game is pretty good due to high review scores.
I see people are taking their chance to bash the console because they're always hungry for anti-Switch related news, but this is 100% on the developer not being able to optimize their game properly. It has problems on even the PS4/PS4 Pro, which tells me everything I needed to know about the game's optimization. When a game like CTR can run at 1080p, MK8D can run smoothly at 1080p/60fps with zero dips or shutters, and platformers like DKC:TF run as well as they do, game like Bloodstained should be flawless and not a buggy/downgraded mess.
Bloodstained is a multi ported game, while you listed console exclusives (except Crash). It´s easier if you only have one console to develop the game for instead of doing it for 3 different ones, and one is really underpowered compared to the other two. Problem was the optimization of the game when it was developed. Games are usually way way way bigger when they are in development. Uncharted 2 was around 2tb or something before Naught Dog needed make it fit for the Blu ray. So it comes down to compression, and when you do that you get alians like hell, and you have the dance of clarity. This is why I wanna have the pc version. My potato laptop can play the game in 720p 30 fps as the Switch. Iy´s playable, but the 4k 60 fps on PS4 Pro /Kreygasm
Have a legit version on ps4, and the leaked version on Switch. Game looks great on handheld, pixel perfect, but it still runs 720p in docked mode, and looks very, very blurry considering the small character sizes. It's not good. Not sure why they decided to add more effects and keep the resolution the same instead of upping the pixel count. Also, it runs very hot, but this may all be due to the lack of patches. Also, the loading times are very long even on ps4. Probably poor optimization all around. Fantastic game though.
Some of you little kids here need to be quiet. I could care less about how well the game runs for you on the PC your parents bought for you. Where were you all when Arkham Knight could even work properly on the lastest PC hardware when released when console players had no issues. It's like you don't understand what lazy development is! The issue is the game was clearly rushed out for the Switch. Blah blah hur dur hur the Switch is a kids toy some of you say! Well seeing as 3rd party games released on the Switch that used were on PC and other consoles are selling well and sometimes better shows it is a platform for many kinds of games and gamers want them. If Dead Cells and Hollow Knight can play perfectly on the Switch there isn't any excuse Bloodstaind can't. Lazy development
Come on now. Parents don't buy us crazy PCs. We waste our first few paychecks on them. Get it right.
Game looks like shit in every platform.
