A reader explains why dissatisfaction with PlayStation VR led him to try Oculus Quest, and why he’s very glad he took the chance.
Pretty dumb comparing a hardware that came out close to 3 years ago to the one that came out months ago. It's like comparing the original iPad with the latest iPad.
...... Assuming you have a three year old iPad and you were on the fence about upgrading to the newest model...wouldn't you want a comparison video/editorial to help you figure out if the upgrade is worth it? I know I would.
They could have straight up compared it to the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive... that would have made better sense. But by comparing with Playstation VR, this article is a direct admission by this media outlet - that Playstation VR is the headset with the most mind share. Great echo system Great games Porn compatible :D The next PS VR will be wireless.
A comparison with all of them would be good but from a reputable author who is trying to write something of merit, not clickbait. The best comparison would have been with the prior Oculus headset though, regardless.
I know I would to. Especially when it comes to VR. Things are my as clear when it comes to VR like they are when it comes to consoles or graphics cards. U have things like tracking that u can't really list on a piece of paper. A vive would b the better piece of euipme t to compare it to, But why isn't he allowed or shouldn't have compared it to this ? Unless your a massive fan boy of sony and it's VR headset why would u get all butt hurt about this?
They're both similar in price and they're both the cheapest VR options, so the comparison is very reasonable.
I think he started on psvr, then moved onto oculus, hence the comparison.
Please compare games, no hardware
Um, it's VR -- hardware is really important.
Yep. Having 360 degrees of tracking is quite important to me so that's why I prefer the Quest over my PSVR. Also, Oculus do have some good exclusives too.
Because it's newer and technology evolves.
Don’t click this, it’s click bait.
How is it clickbait to share one's opinion about two relatively budget vr headsets? Oh, it's because it's not being positive about sony's offering. If the conclusion of the article was that ps vr is better none of y'all fanboys would be whining.
Completely agree. People on this site cant handle when another gives their opinion and it's not in favor of sony.
@Gaminglife And the people that constantly whine about people who are in favor of Sony, like you, who are they? I highly doubt they're just some neutral, all loving gamers that only have a hard on for Sony fans and ignore the other fanboys.
Thanks went out sold my weak psvr with them Wii sticks and bought me a nice Oculus gift set appreciate the information.
Lol ok we believe you.
How is AstroBot running on the Oculus?? Better?
Markbizzle - That's some of the worst trolling I've ever seen.
Ok soo... where is that gtfo here/stop lying button N4G promised?
With the way Sony has been supporting the vr, I suspect it will keep improving.
Rift S pc nation!
PC stinks mate - enjoy upgrading your components to PCIE-4.0.
And yet Sony's next console will be an AMD box with the playstation logo attached to it.
Are you saying a console which serves essentially one purpose is the same as a PC? To call a console an AMD box is to completely misunderstand what a console is. I bet my PC is different to your's and everyone else's on this site, no two are the same unless you're buying a pre-built system - then i cant help you. That's why they stink. I reckon my PC would be better than most on here too, but let's not split hairs.
Am I? Am I saying that?
That's what I got from 'AMD box with PlayStation logo attached to it', remember what that was a response too.
You should have known that I was talking about GPU and CPU... hell even architecture. Consoles really benefit from something that stinks don't they? One could say that PC gaming is the backbone of console gaming... Hmm I have to make sure to buy some air freshener before getting an AMDPS5.
Dafuq you on about? PCI-E 4 components will still work on PCI-E 3 boards at PCI-E 3 speeds. Remove the tampon from your ass and put it where it belongs.
LightofDarkness - So by your logic, you need a new motherboard and CPU to take advantage of PCIE-4? I think that's what I said in my first comment right after 'PC stinks mate'.
It isn't. You heavily implied that the advent of PCI-E 4 would require you to immediately update your entire system, outing your ignorance for all the world to see and resulting in this snivelling, backtracking rebuttal. Furthermore, there would be no reason to upgrade to PCI-E 4 unless you plan on running multiple SSDs in full PCI-E mode and a full GPU in x16 mode. It's not an immediate requirement for anyone, it's just a nice bandwidth boost that people can enjoy if and when they choose. Choice, being one of the primary drivers of the success of the PC platform. And we're not "mates", you arrogant, disingenuous twat.
LightofDarkness - Hey dickhead, what do you think next gen consoles will have? What do you think future games will be designed around? I'll let you ponder that. Use all the snide language you want, fact remains all the shitty over priced PC's out there will be forced to upgrade core components - if they want to play multiplat games developed for next gen consoles.
And you base this, of course, on absolutely nothing. I never understand why people like you need to spread FUD about something you don't like. Did a big mean PC run away with one of your parents or something? The SSDs that will be in those consoles exist today, running at PCI-E 3 speeds, and I don't see that changing any time soon. At worst, we'll have longer load times for a little while. The games will still work. The bigger requirement will be that you practically need SSDs. And all this talk of upgrading, you still have to upgrade your console, TV and accessories to get the most out of this next generation. And the price difference there will be negligible; you act like you're going to granted a free PS5 for being such a loyal fanboy. Everyone needs to upgrade for next gen. At least we can just swap out a few components, console-only gamers have to replace practically everything.
I think the main reason to upgrade to pcie4 right now would be if you want to run nvme ssd. Which is probably what the ps5, next xbox will be using. PC is the best gaming platform but playstation is the best console imo
I would love to play Astro Bot on this
Reason I got rid of vr was tracking and cables but it was still a great experience. No regrets.
Anyone have their own personal hardware preferences and that's ok but let's not forget that PSVR is currently the VR market leader and has done singlehandedly what none of all other VR competitors have been able to do. PSVR 2 is going to continue that legacy.
Click bait. No one cares if he sold any product for another. That's his decision. I didn't buy an Oculus because it's not blowing PSVR away. Which is a testament to Sony's ability to make great hardware. Also, PSVR has access to all the PS4 games in cinema screen. That's thousands of games you can't play on Quest online and offline. Quests walled garden prevents it from having more without side loading. The games just aren't better on Quest. And certain games can't even be made on Quest. It doesn't beat the feel of having Aim in your hands compared Quest controllers. And a DS4 is going to beat it on controls. Yes. The Quest has many things it can do over something that came out 3 years ago like wireless and room tracking. But the library is just no where near PSVR. Nothing on it would make me sell a PSVR to get it or buy it outright at this time. And the upcoming PSVR exclusives and the recently released ones can't be beat. There is Vader. But the *free, single Battlefront VR Mission is, in my opinion, still better. It's incomplete. But so is Vader as it's episodic. Down the road Quest will get its share of content. But right now, PSVR still has more value since it's connected to PS4 and its games and its own exclusive games. That's what is supposed to matter. Which is the games.
What? I'm sorry, but there are more PC VR games than PS4 VR games. Let's me real here.
Do you have triple A games on PCVR? Honest question because I played Blood & Truth and would love to experience something like this in higher res.
Quest doesn't play PC games. Try again. If I wanted wireless, I'd get a Vive or Rift and a TP cast. And still have more and better games than what's on Quest right now. Name a game worth selling a PSVR for a Quest? There isn't anything there. It's the same 3rd party games down scaled to fit a mobile processor. Wireless is not enough. It better have games that blow away PSVR. It doesn't.
🤔 Something tells me the old PS4 won’t be as good as the several years newer PS5. Call it a hunch.
Not sure if you'd get Blood & Truth style game working on Quest.
And why the psvr 2 will be better than the oculus quest.
Well lets see how PlayStation's second attempt at vr fairs against it.
