I wish Crisis Core would get remastered

FBNS1777d ago

Never going to happen unless they completely removed gackt from the game... But that's never going to happen because he's a main plot point... This is why we don't license Superstars likenesses for games

djl34851777d ago

Just replace the character.

KaaF1778d ago

Skippable summon animation would be nice.

JokerBoy4221778d ago

Itd defeat the purpose of the "Boost" ability though.

Wintersun6161778d ago

Not really, time saved vs more damage. It would make me use summons again. After playing the game for at least over 5 times, I didn't use the summons anymore because I was tired of watching the animations. I wouldn't mind not getting full possible damage.

rainslacker1778d ago

I always sucked at boost so I wouldn't miss it.

KaaF1778d ago

I don't, watching the same animation over and over is sickening.

pietro12121778d ago

Better get use to not summoning

Gardenia1778d ago

Just keep 1 or 2 on low health and you have unlimited Limit Breaks, no need for summons. In FFVIII you can abuse the system and get OP insanely fast if you know how it works. Drawing magic was always a pain in the ass, until you figured out how to get all magic through item refining.

FBNS1777d ago

But you never need to use summons the entire game... They're a waste of time really.... Not when all you need to do is draw the right magic to boost your strength through the roof and fight as little as possible... All the enemies level with you... So no point in leveling... Just draw and abuse until finish...

The most underrated finally getting its due

rainslacker1777d ago

I hope 9 is next. I think it's the best of the PS1 era. But, FF8 does tend to get overlooked as well. Both have plenty of fans either way though.

JunMei1777d ago (Edited 1777d ago )

IX was already remastered. The remastered version is the one available on current gen consoles and PC. However, if you have it on PC, there is a mod that has AI enhanced backgrounds. It looks QUITE incredible. Best thing is, even if you have a crappy old laptop it'll run just fine. Just grab your favorite controller, plug the HDMI into the TV/receiver and then you're golden!

rainslacker1777d ago

Isn't that just a port of the PC version, like the original 7 and 8?

FBNS1777d ago

Ff9 is the most underrated... Ff8 is the most overrated

Zenbaby3691777d ago

Uh, backwards... Everyone and their dog thinks 9 is the best thing since sliced bread. Sadly that bread is gross, and 8 really is overlooked because everyone is/was so stuck on 7.

JokerBoy4221778d ago

Stoked for this with all the bonus cheats. Hopefully it'll make the weird leveling system more enjoyable.

Michiel19891778d ago

Leveling was the same as in any other final fantasy, you gain exp you level up.
I think you refer to the junction system, but are you implying they should change the most unique thing about this game? No, thank you.

When they first announced it I was a bit skeptical, but now that I look at the screenshots im pretty pleased with how it looks. Feels a bit weird buying this game for the 6th time, but what can a ps1 FF addict do? :(

Kurisu1778d ago (Edited 1778d ago )

No, levelling in FFVIII is different in the sense that monsters level up with you. I think that's what Joker was referring to.

Michiel19891778d ago

that's not what I call leveling, but yes the world does scale along.with the player
I don't really mind if they add changes for systems some people have problems with or don't like, as long as I can play it as it was so many years back with updated graphics (and 3x speed for drawing).

JokerBoy4221777d ago

FF8 made leveling pointless as enemies leveled with you. They actually added abilities to stop you from leveling up and in staying lower leveled made the game way easier. You could still junction high magic to stats and fight low level enemies. That was the whole point in farming for exp in other FF games, so you could get the upper hand on enemies. I'm saying with the new ability to basically run a "God Mode" you wont have to worry about leveling or not and just enjoy the story.

Uglyday1777d ago (Edited 1777d ago )

In the PC version you optionally start with a stock of 99 of most minor and medium tier spells to junction for stats so you are overpowered right off the bat if you want to be.

MadLad1778d ago

Not the biggest fan of the series. Only got into 6,7, 9, 12 (favorite of the series) and the tactics titles.
Heard good things about 8, but never tried it. Seems a good reason to give it a try.

Nerdmaster1777d ago

Just don't expect the plot to make much sense...

JokerBoy4221777d ago

The plot is fucked but entertaining and it's very much like Inception in some ways.

Final Fantasy Games That Deserve the Remake Treatment

Final Fantasy has a long running history with numerous numbered titles and spin-offs, but which games stand to benefit from a remake?

gold_drake125d ago

i feel like all of them.
well except 2 haha.

shinoff2183125d ago

Agreed. Ff2 though can be made better, so it's not entirely a lost cause. Ff8 will gets its time. I do wish they'd do the old ones. From ff10 and up those ones still hold up pretty well.

kevco33124d ago

Honestly, I've always felt that VII and up 'hold up well' in that regard. The early 3D games just needed a cosmetic update. But the FFVII Remake is so different to the original in execution that a lot of games could be done in a similar fashion and feel far more modern.

I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing (that depends on your personal preference!), just that they could feel very different.

shinoff2183124d ago

Kevco I liked remake but I think your right. Idda been happy with a 1 to 1 remake that looked like ever crisis to. Or both

I'd just love I square would one day give us a turned based one with today's graphics. I can't really think of a jrpg that does that.

andy85124d ago

I'd rather the 13 trilogy just be ported tbh. No matter what you think if it, it shouldn't be the only numbered offline games not playable on new consoles. But naturally I'd play the **** out of 8-12 remakes.

shinoff2183124d ago

I do agree. I'd give it another shot even though I didn't like it at first. My taste change over time. Gta 4 for instance I was so disappointed it lacked so much of what san andreas had I didn't play it for like 5 years. One day went to a semi pro football game(American football) came home drunk and decided to try 4 again. I actually liked it after giving it a fair shot.

Rebel_Scum124d ago

Just make new games. Not every game needs to be remade.

It’s a great game, but uh, this is like a really old release. Not sure why you felt the need to put a review up for it now. Are you going to do a review on Parasite Eve?

andy85160d ago

I'd like it remastered I know that 😂

CrimsonWing69160d ago (Edited 160d ago )

Oh I’m with you. I was thinking the other day I wish we had an FF Tactics Remake or HD Remaster. What I’m hoping is Square ports over their PS1 library to PS5. Like Remasters or Remakes with trophy support. God, I’d love to play Einhander at some point.

shinoff2183159d ago

Final fantasy tactics and ff9 are the only games that haven't released of that leaked Nvidia list from a few years ago. Far as I know everything else has been released.

Far as the review maybe it was their first time playing it. I'd give it a 8.5 or so personally.

CrimsonWing69159d ago (Edited 159d ago )

Yea, it’s a 9 for me, personally. 5-10 are the best, in my opinion.

As for the leaks, I remember seeing something for FF Tactics but it’s starting to bum me out nothing official has dropped.

I was playing Tactics Ogre and it just made me wish for The War of the Lions.

Snookies12159d ago (Edited 159d ago )

Lol! A bit late to the party on that one? Honestly, it still holds up extremely well. It's a fantastic game to this day. As long as you can get over the giant cube hands character models. If you've got a PC, you can even mod it quite extensively if you want to. I've seen some mods that make it look like a completely remade game.

VersusDMC159d ago

The redone character models made this a must buy for me as a FFVIII fan. Turning off random encounters was also nice.

Would love if they gave this treatment to to Parasite Eve 1 and 2.

jznrpg159d ago

I want Vagrant Story first and foremost but I’d be happy with those as well.

My second favorite Final Fantasy entry next to Final Fantasy X always had fun playing the card game, loved going into space and rescue Rinoa. The way they added game sprites to the FMV was awesome always loved the intro the Guardian Forces had. I think Parasite Eve uses the same engine as Final Fantasy 8 which is another favorite of mine. I love Eyes On Me song. I just imported the PS4 port of Final Fantasy 8 and I also have Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 8 cartridge for my Switch. I even bought the Final Fantasy 8 Sound track off a buddy near mint condition only used three times.

celohill855d ago

It's everyone who really play through the story of Final Fantasy VIII and they don't know how incredible this story is. Final Fantasy Crystal will launch soon an special talking every single detail in story of Final Fantasy VIII to create a nostalgia place. Final Fantasy VIII story is beautiful. Some people think that's is about love, but it's not. It is about what happen after you fall in love. Is just fantastic.

CrimsonWing69855d ago

Can you explain further what you mean about the story not being about love?

My interpretation was it was absolutely a romance story. You have someone who was an introverted loner who discovers that people in his life matter and learning the value of someone you love and then not wanting to lose that person and be alone again.

got_dam855d ago

It's about love. But not just romance. It's about learning to love yourself, and learning to accept the love of others. It's the kind of story that wouldn't have worked as well if the main cast wasn't mostly teenagers. It's my favorite in the series. The game has all kinds of warts to he sure but I love it. The junction system was broken but still very compelling. I've never played a game that you can break so thoroughly. By the time I reach disc 2 it's already a massive power fantasy. Not the first time I played it, but I got more and more familiar with the possibilities with each playthrough.

Michiel1989855d ago

FF8 is my favorite, but i really wasnt a big fan of the space rescue mission, or how they handled the latter part of the story at all. basically once you are 80% through the game, they introduce the real plot, it felt a bit cheap and rushed. The rest of the game made up for that tenfold over though, it has my favorite OST, triple triad, the junction system (yeah when you cheese it, its not great) and amazing visuals.

Would love to see a remake of it at some point, but i guess thats wishful thinking.

masterfox855d ago

FFVII and FVIII are my legendary Final Fantasy games of all time, played 9 and 10 , great FF games but not Legendary status as 7 and 8 imo, FFVIII card game so addictive got collect them all for super powerful spells, epic soundtrack , still remember Laguna's epic battle theme, or how about last boss theme with Ultimecia?, I really thought Sephiroth's battle themes couldn't be surpass, but oh man!, still not sure it surpass it but the music in FF VIII is up there with same high quality as VII. If there is a old past FF games I would love to play or have it remade is FF VI just because this amazing intro, something tells me this is an epic adventure as well like 7 and 8.

CrimsonWing69855d ago

FF6 through 9 are the best FF games for me, we’ll go ahead and lump FF7 Remake into the mix. Like each one was incredible in their own way. After that it just hasn’t been the same to me.

thejigisup855d ago

Final fantasy on the PsOne was always very good. The draw system was interesting, broken but interesting. Final fantasy 9 was also really good. Wish we could return to that Era, just briefly.
