Square Enix's Showcase Has Been The Best Part of E3 2019

Square Enix's Showcase was the best part of E3 2019. Combining enthusiasm with big releases and reveals, Square Enix stole the show.

That may be but as whole E3's gaming conferences has been average at best.... So far. Its up to Nintendo to save what has been a pretty bland E3.

Yeah i have high hopes for that ! my Switch has been collecting dust for months now and i haven’t bought anything for it since SSB Ultimate i’m really not happy with what Nintendo is doing so far.. i need some games for my Switch.

Yeah dude. I've just finished watching the conference. FFVII Remake is definitely my highlight of E3. That Guard Scorpion fight was insane. Also that extended trailer man. They've nailed the presentation and the combat looks great.

It was nice to see Yoshinori Kitase on stage. He pointed out that the first part of the game will expand on the story of Midgar and will be a standalone game that they anticipate to ship on 2 Blu-ray discs. That actually sounds reassuring. It's pretty obvious that making a PS4 version of FFVII from the ground up involves a lot more work anyway but it also gives them the opportunity to expand on the game world, story and characters a lot more. If they do a good job at this I think releasing it in episodes might not be a bad idea after all. It might actually be the only way to make this project possible without compromising the creative vision.

100% agreed. Everything else was....so vanilla. Pandering to the players..but short on substance. Square let the games do the talking...and talk they did. Bravo!

Well, the VII Remake basically carried the whole thing. Nice that SaGa Scarlet Grace is finally coming west and to Steam, and nice that Oninaki got a release date, but other than these things, it was kind of meh. Still better than pretty much every other conference though, which is saying something.

I think I've pretty much given up on E3 as a place where really huge, surprising announcements are made though, at least in Square Enix's case. No Final Fantasy XVI, no Final Fantasy X-3, still no word on the game that Motomu Toriyama has been working on for like 5 years (which could be X-3), no Final Fantasy V or VI remakes, no third Chrono game, no final game in the Compilation of VII (though I suppose that's understandable right now), no proper announcement for the Final Fantasy XI reboot, no news on that Fran & Balthier spin-off, no Final Fantasy Type-Next, no Dissidia NT stuff (characters, stages), no Versus XV (unlikely, I know), no Vagrant Story sequel, no third Musashi game, no Kingdom Hearts III for PC, and the list goes on. Are they really in a position where they can't work on at least 2 of the above games? Seems hard to believe, given how huge they are.

Also, while the VII Remake looks really, really good, this business of stretching like under half of the original first disc across 2 whole bluray discs is kind of ludicrous. If we're talking an open-world Midgar than that's pretty cool, but how many parts am I ultimately going to have to buy? If the remake in its entirety is going to be as dense as the first part, surely that'd mean like 4-5 parts? Or, beyond Midgar will the game be less dense? Is it going to be XV all over again? i.e. Lucis was super dense, but everywhere else was a glorified montage. Also, how long before every part is released?

Square have owned E3 so far. When they announced FFVIII Remastered I was really hoping for a “...and it’s available to download later today.” That would have made the conference perfect.

I think it might have been my fave of E3 2019, which is saying a lot since past E3s from them had been largely forgettable.
