Finally I can stream my Xbox to something other a PC on the same network

crazyCoconuts2205d ago

Is this essentially like PS4 remote play?

Zeref2204d ago

Yep except you can actually use it outside of your house

crazyCoconuts2204d ago

You can do that with PS4 remote play btw, since inception.

rdgneoz32204d ago

There are videos of people using remote play from h the halfway across the country almost. Leaving the system on in 1 state, then going on vacation several states away and using their vital to play games from their system.

Prince-Ali2204d ago

I literally used Remote play when i was in a different city for a period of like a month looool

rainslacker2204d ago

I use remote play outside my house often. In fact, I have no reason to use it at my house, because I'm at my house where my PS4 is. Although i assume others may like it if they don't have rights to use the TV.

Works fine for me at work, which is where I typically use it on my Vita, or sometimes on my PC if they aren't being fussy about the network.

CaptainCook2204d ago

Nope, you can use your console as a server to stream your games you already own or Xcloud via Azure servers.

crazyCoconuts2204d ago

yea, so when you do remote play on ps4, your ps4 acts as a server that streams games you already own to the phone/pc/tablet.

fathertime44642204d ago

No it's not PS4 remote play entirely...
PS4 remote play streams only your PS4 to your device. This is a cloud server that you use to stream games like on psnow or you have the option of streaming your own home console.
Hell you don't even need an Xbox one, just just need to own digital titles

NLink07142204d ago

As per the conference it allows you to “turn your own Xbox one into a server”

rainslacker2204d ago

It's literally the same thing they have with Remote play. They're just bundling it up as a feature for xCloud. If it's part of an xCloud subscription, or a feature of xCloud, it will literally be MS putting the same feature which is free on PS4, and a few select PS3 games, behind a paywall. It will work the same way. if they keep it free regardless of xCloud membership, then it'll literally be exactly like what Remote play on PS4 is now.

They may expand it's access with xCloud streaming, but that wasn't part of this announcement.

You're confusing two different things.

fathertime44642204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

@rainslacket
I'm not confusing 2 different things. I'm pointing out that it's not just console streaming like the PS4. I actually broke it apart for him. It's multiple things all at once....
Also when did MS state that you had to pay for xcloud? I watched the conference I didn't hear any mention of that

So basically what’s Remote Play is like now

battlegrog2204d ago

LOL does remote play let you play anywhere ? remote play is not even cloud based,Its strickly for in your home. This will allow you to stream from your xbox anywhere you're if you choose or choose the servers

rdgneoz32204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

You can play several states away (or across the country) if you have a good connection at home and where your playing.

Prince-Ali2204d ago

The worst comment here! You dont even know what Remote Play is but you wanna be commenting with your chest like you're right loooool dumbass loool

rainslacker2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

Maybe go watch the PS4 reveal again? Remote play was explained in detail there. It's what they use for their game sharing app as well, although they can run that on PSNow servers as well if need be.

Remote play has had internet availability since it was brought out on the PS3. It had a limited selection of games on PS3, but Sony's been doing this for a while. It's currently available on Vita, PSTV, PC, iPhone/iPad, or Xperia tablets/phones. There's even a rumor floating around that it may be coming to google devices soon.

https://manuals.playstation...

It's literally in the PS4 manual.

What MS is talking about here is not cloud based, they're talking about streaming from your home console. Exactly like what Remote play does. They wrapped it up in xCloud marketing, but that doesn't change what it is. They may expand on it, but so far that's just speculation.

FallenAngel19842204d ago

Lol you clearly haven’t used remote play before. I was just using Remote Play to play KH3 at Walmart the other day

Remote Play works anywhere with a strong WiFi connection

Zeref2204d ago

Unless you're using some kind of hack it together solution. You can't do Remote play outside of your house.

crazyCoconuts2204d ago

wow totally not true. you should try it, it's worked for quite a few years now

rdgneoz32204d ago

Ny to La, I think it works outside the house...

https://youtu.be/TNzXlR7JYK...

Prince-Ali2204d ago

You REALLY dont know anything about Remote Play do you!? loool

rainslacker2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

How soon people forget the PS4 reveal where they went over this feature in detail. It's been a day one feature for PS4, and was made available in the last couple years of the PS3 for games that the publisher allowed on it. It's currently required that publishers allow it on PS4 through the terms of licensing. It's even easy to set up. Just enable it, pair a device, or get the code to pair, and the app on another system somewhere connected to the internet can find your PS4 from anywhere in the world.

It's a cool feature actually for some situations. Just say good job MS.

Dude actually use remote play before commenting on things you don’t understand

You can do Remote Play outside of your house for years. It’s a very basic process with no workaround. Just connect your PS4 to the internet and you’ll be able to easily remote play from it anywhere else in the world with a WiFi signal

omegaheat2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

Man it looked almost unplayable with PS4 remote play due to the late response of the analog stick movements. I guess we'll see the difference with the Xcloud's use of Azure servers.

Zeref2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

https://remoteplay.dl.plays...

"Connect your computer and PS4™ system over the same network, and then follow the on-screen instructions."

That's the official sony website.

One of you is lying.

rdgneoz32204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

NY to LA, https://youtu.be/TNzXlR7JYK...

The ones lying haven't used it before.

Prince-Ali2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

Where the hell is that written lool? Bro just ACTUALLY Google it! you can literally watch video's of people using Remote Play outside lool. i LITERALLYYYYYY use it in different cities bro lool

rainslacker2204d ago

You have to pair over the same network, however, you can also get a code to pair if you aren't on the same network. Its easier to set up on the same network, as your PS4(or PS3) broadcasts out the signal over the network for the app to find.

FallenAngel19842204d ago

So basically you’re admitting that you haven’t used Remote Play before

I just used Remote Play on my iPhone at my friend’s house and was able to access games from my PS4 which was in another city with no workaround because there’s no need for one

Zeref2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

Obviously i don't have a PS4 So i just need to take your word for it....

PhoenixUp2204d ago

The only way this can outdo Remote Play is if it can stream games from your Xbox One without needing a WiFi signal

Otherwise it’s basically the same thing

rainslacker2204d ago

Do you mean adhoc connections between the Xbox and another device without the use of a local network?

If so, then yeah, I guess that would be good, but it'd probably still be through the Wi-Fi of the systems, as they're faster than the other adhoc connections available on the system itself...which would be bluetooth. That would mean turning off your normal wifi connection to the internet on the Xbox though, as I don't believe the network controllers available support multiple network assignments to have two different IP addresses like that. Although I suppose that could be done in software.

CaptainCook2204d ago (Edited 2204d ago )

You don't really need a WiFi to stream your games you already own, you'll have 2 options, your xbox console acts as a server or you can use Xcloud via Azure.

I appreciate this way of doing business. I may even buy Lies of P now because of it. Where your money goes it's literally the only leverage we have as consumers to make a difference in an industry we all have an opinion about. Withholding it or spending it in the right places is about all we can do.

ravens528h ago(Edited 8h ago)

This is fire. Just like the game. I haven't gotten the dlc yet, but im really thinking about it. I just thought it ended great, I really want to see what they do with Dorothy. Will you fight the Tinman, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, the Wicked Witch and Wizard of Oz? Maybe Toto's with us, that'd be fire.

repsahj35m ago

For the moment there, I thought Lies of P will be ported to Switch 2. XD Anyway, congratulations to Round8 and the whole development team.
