I don’t think Wolfenstein Young Blood will do too well. Wolfenstein: The New Colossus Was stated to have underperformed and the fan reception of the game was mixed.

veicht1786d ago (Edited 1786d ago )

I liked the new colossus but not as much as the new order or even the old blood. I am not very interested in youngblood despite arkane helping with it (I really enjoyed prey). The two protagonists are kindof off-putting for me (hard to say why exactly but something about their personalities is kindof grating for me from what i've seen so far) and judging by the handling of the new colossus dlc they seem to want to stick with their increased difficulty which I though hurt the gameplay. Not that I have a problem with difficult, but the way it is handled in the new colossus ends up being for the worse (new order and old blood were kindof easy but new colossus was over the top with how easy it was to die).

Yeah that last fight was super frustrating it reminded me of the last fight in Bioshock Infinite.

Hungryalpaca1786d ago

They’re focusing way too much on a story driven narrative and less on the gameplay. The gameplay that was in New Colossus was great BUT there was barely any of it. The cutscenes were longer than the game

Sciurus_vulgaris1786d ago

In my opinion The New Colossus to had worse gameplay than the New Order and Old Blood. I beat both the New Order and Old Blood on Uber, yet I found many of the levels in the New Colossus to be frustratingly hard on Terror Billy difficulty due to what seemed like trial and error gameplay.

I personally felt the level design in the New Colossus was poor with cheaply placed enemies, and alarms that cause enemies to spawn in from impossible sources. Overall, I believe Machine Games invested too much into the cutscenes and story, and gameplay and level design felt secondary to the game’s plot.

TheProfessional1786d ago (Edited 1786d ago )

The story and tone in New Colossus were awful. The graphics were great and it had a couple of cool levels (ex. the courthouse) but New Order was better in every way. The jokes and lame new secondary characters were terrible and they ruined the campaign. The game was just trying SO hard. The hub between missions was also pointless and the coolest looking part of the game from the trailers (parade/diner) was just a scripted sequence and wasn't really a playable level.

The game looks fun. I'll bite.

anonymousfan1786d ago

The game is not releasing until July 26th and still discounted to near discount bin price?! What is going on. Is it about Xbox Two version of the game being announced at E3 next week or what?! Lmao

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

Harryvok625d ago

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.

RTCW is wayy better than New Colossus.
RTCW should get the 1st spot but I'll settle for a 2nd spot for RTCW in order avoid unneeded quarrel with late 2000s new gamers - and this is coming from an late 90s, early 2000s FPS lover. (RTCW is one of the best single player FPS eve made and one of my fav game)

Wolfenstein 2009 doesn't get enough credit. It was genuinely good, I really enjoyed it. I think the reboot series from MachineGames is certainly better, but the 2009 game is still worth playing.

RaidenBlack696d ago

I had high hopes for Wolf 2009 especially after RTCW and Enemy Territory. And also because none other than Raven was developing it.
But they couldn't quite hit the mark. It turned out okayish. But after RTCW, it seemed pretty underwhelming as a sequel.

porkChop695d ago

Agreed that RTCW is clearly better. Though I don't think I had played that yet when I played the 2009 game.

Gridknac696d ago

I still favor Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I like the Indiana Jones and the Nazis messing with the supernatural vibe.

Sciurus_vulgaris696d ago

I remember buying Return to Castle Wolfenstein for Xbox when I was a teen. It was my first Wolfenstein title. I found the game challenging yet enjoyable.

RTCW was one of my first online MP experiences with broadband, both online and single player campaign was very fun.

RaidenBlack696d ago

I consider RTCW as one of the best FPS campaigns made. The mood, the pacing was just really good, especially for an early 2000s PC game. And it was pretty difficult too.

Wolfenstein 2009 is still my favorite by a mile. The variety of locations like the farm level and others were so colorful and fun to explore. The story as well with the Dark Sun and the enemies. Just very well thought out and BJ was perfect in it with his look and demeanor.

JL2930695d ago

2009 game way too low on this list. Original Wolfenstein is not better than any of the modern games.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Review - Judging the Indiana Jones Devs' Future Quality From Their Last Work

Jason says, "The devs of the future Indiana Jones game made this game. So duh, I decided I’d review their last work to get a feel for the potential quality of their future work!

In case you don’t know, Wolfenstein: Youngblood continues the Wolfenstein storyline of the modern games but as a spinoff centered around BJ’s daughters. It also continues along with the fast-paced, smooth-as-butter FPS action its modern revival and counterpart Doom have so competently brought back."

Article on N4G tomorrow... "Doom was never very good or revolutionary..."

Battlestar231138d ago (Edited 1138d ago )

The spider-man games when multi-platorm were great now that it's exclusive to PS they are crap with SJW writing.

NeoGamer2321138d ago

I disagree. The Spider-man exclusives on PS are the only Spider-man games worth playing. They are very good.

anast1138d ago

This like a "Pet Sematary" article. It's probably not a good idea to go about bringin' up things that should be dead.
