Google Stadia Game Streaming Service to use First Gen AMD Radeon Vega GPU Architecture

It seems like the Google Stadia service will be powered by 14nm Intel CPU and AMD Radeon Vega GPUs, also leveraging the same process.

But will it be worth the price pf admission? People can say "this ain't too bad" to things like Netflix, Hulu Xbox Gamepass & PS Now. But when it comes down to how much it costs every month, and with this service, theoretically never ends. Will people see value in that vs buying a console and owning it as long as they want?

Gaming is not an area where you try to compete on the cheap.

Nintendo has IP and a legacy to stand on. Any expectations for a company like Google will be high end. They seem to be aiming for a 1080p/60 market. That's fine for casual gamers. But the mark for next generation will be 4k/60 with ray tracing. Those cards can do the ray tracing but we're looking at downgrades offline that aren't going to be overcome in the eyes of the consumer with a new product.

This isn't a cheap gpu though. Vega 56 and vega 64 were high end desktop gpus, unlike polaris which was not made for high end.

Ray tracing will be required next generation. This machine will struggle to compete with the new xbox and playstation.

does it matter, it still looks like garbage on the users end. I ownder if this is an experiment to see just how much their near monopoly of information can influence purchases. They were able to get people to use android, even though its possibly the worst mainstream operating system ever. All they had to do was make Apple the enemy and point out how all their products are high end and expensive, but the real loser was Microsoft despite windows phone being vastly superior in every way to android.
