It seems like the Google Stadia service will be powered by 14nm Intel CPU and AMD Radeon Vega GPUs, also leveraging the same process.
Now this is just sad. I don't think they'll be able to compete with next gen consoles and current pcs with this kind of obsolete hardware.
Indeed they won’t. Typical hi speed internet makes the footage of early stadia loose so much clarity it lies well below Xbox one x and ps4 pro visuals.
casuals may not care though. To them they would maybe think it's still good the way people think netflix is top quality when a native blu ray is way better.
This service is clearly targeting the mass audience.. Casual games and why not smartphones "gamers" with average Internet
Streaming games is not necessarily about horsepower. Those who care about horsepower are not looking to games streaming to provide that.
Your spot on. This is also one reason why Microsoft have said they want to offer xcloud along side xbox and pc. They know the core will go for power and causal will go for streaming especially if xcloud boxis £100 or less and a xbox is £350+
They've been boasting about teraflops and 4k 60fps though, so their target demographic mustn't be very different from the target demographic of traditional consoles, and they're probably gonna miss that target by a long shot.
what is it then? You can play Fortnite on an iPhone at 60 fps in 2019, why does anyone need this garbage going forward? to put it in perspective, in a couple of years pretty much any phone will be fast enough for Fortnite at 60 fps. Years ago streaming would have been useful, but the tech wasnt good enough and now time is running out for this idea. I can see everything going digital only, but running games server side is nonsense. @ButtAnihilator lol at the name, this is google we are talking about.. one of the most dishonest and shady companies in existence.. who also happens to have a growing information monopoly.
I’m pretty sure ps5 is gonna be around the same cause Sony is marketing the SSD so hard for the ps5 that it’s making me think it’s not gonna be as powerful but the secret sauce is that SSD Xbox I feel is gonna be the powerful one
This thing is supposed to be tons more powerful than the PS5 though, according to Google's claims.
It’s stackable hardware so it will have the possibility to outperform any consumer rated hardware. Including next-gen consoles and high-end PC’s.
This is going to be a massive flop.
So streaming and inferior hardware to what the ps5 and Scarlett will be rendering local... no thx to stadia for me.
There are many more people than you who will say "this ain't too bad".
But will it be worth the price pf admission? People can say "this ain't too bad" to things like Netflix, Hulu Xbox Gamepass & PS Now. But when it comes down to how much it costs every month, and with this service, theoretically never ends. Will people see value in that vs buying a console and owning it as long as they want?
Google thinks it will be. And they are often right.
i was interested to begin with but this makes it worse heh
Hmm meh long live console gaming
Gaming is not an area where you try to compete on the cheap.
Tell that to nintendo.
Nintendo has IP and a legacy to stand on. Any expectations for a company like Google will be high end. They seem to be aiming for a 1080p/60 market. That's fine for casual gamers. But the mark for next generation will be 4k/60 with ray tracing. Those cards can do the ray tracing but we're looking at downgrades offline that aren't going to be overcome in the eyes of the consumer with a new product.
This isn't a cheap gpu though. Vega 56 and vega 64 were high end desktop gpus, unlike polaris which was not made for high end. https://www.techpowerup.com... It's almost twice as fast as the xbox one x gpu
Ray tracing will be required next generation. This machine will struggle to compete with the new xbox and playstation.
I hope Google likes losing, because that's what's going to happen.
they just want a piece of the pie. Get outta here google/tencent/amazon.
google needs to be split up asap, they are abusing their growing information monopoly in all kinds of awful ways.
does it matter, it still looks like garbage on the users end. I ownder if this is an experiment to see just how much their near monopoly of information can influence purchases. They were able to get people to use android, even though its possibly the worst mainstream operating system ever. All they had to do was make Apple the enemy and point out how all their products are high end and expensive, but the real loser was Microsoft despite windows phone being vastly superior in every way to android.
"streaming is the future of gaming", lol yeah right.
Oh boy Google Stadia just don't do well so I've my traditional gaming for a long time
