Because he scrapped the core gameplay and is replacing it with one of his crappy battle systems. He already helped make final fantasy xv and kingdom hearts 3 extremely disappointing with his gameplay ideas.

in my opinion, an alternate ending would be pretty interesting but it would shorten the game to 1 disc.

the meteor blast was for sephiroth to reach his ultimate form. (safer sephiroth) with Holy already summoned that would obviously change the script into sephiroth being a villain who spends 90 percent of his time bantering gibberish. delusional at best. ]

He completely got rid of the gameplay and replaced it with something else while keep the characters and story. In interviews he always talks badly about the way the original plays. The story, characters etc are all just dressing over top of the gameplay, just like any other game. I dont want one of his battle systems anywhere near this game.

What a silly straw man argument, what they showed isn’t even final fantasy vii at all. If it didn’t have the same characters we wouldn’t even recognize it as final fantasy vii at all. They showed gameplay, it looks like trash compared to the original. Why don’t they just make it into a first person shooter at this point?

Square has lost it's footing since the merger, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Square has so much riding on the remake they can't possibly put out a bad title.

Personally, I would like some variation of the ATB or ATD system, it isn't happening and complaining solves nothing. "Why don’t they just make it into a first person shooter at this point?" Calm down it's still a RPG and if done right it can be a damn good action rpg.

I discovered that spoiler while reading The Official PlayStation Magazine 2 years after the game came out, while I was in the Temple of the Ancients. Meaning that I was almost to the end of the 1st disc. They were discussing why they didn’t use a Phoenix Down.

It’s been 22 years, we can talk about, just how we can say the Sheik is Zelda (even Smash Bros. spoiled that).

It's been 22 years. Her death is one of the most talked about and well-known twists in gaming history. The original game can be played on any modern platform, even phones. There is absolutely no reason that people shouldn't be able to mention that scene.
