Well they certainly won't be at the Playstation show.

Who's to say what Sony will do with State of Play, really, but ideally, third parties want to be on a stage at E3, we think. The Nintendo Direct model works for Nintendo, but who knows if third parties are okay with skipping E3 the way Sony is.

Who’s to say it won’t work for Sony?????

Imortus_san7d ago

Since when having not publicizing games is good, you people just came up with such bullshit.

Yeah but Sony have already said they aren’t doing anything around E3. No state of play. Devs want more of the media coverage that comes with E3

"Who's to say what Sony will do with State of Play"

I agree. Some people on N4G will bet that Sony´s State of Play will blow Microsoft´s E3 conference out of water; because E3 is obsolete, worthless and dead (in their minds, obviously)

No shit sherlock.
From a playstation gamers perspective though it'll be like last years MS E3 conference where we still get too see what's coming to playstation in regards to 3rd party though so that's a plus.

ifinitygamer7d ago

We're looking at a 2-hour conference, minimum. No shenanigans of moving between venues this year, either ;)

Love playstations E3 showings over the years but agree I was like wtf Sony and scratching my head last year lol, what was they thinking.
Having said that we did see 4 great trailers but yep awful presentation.

The intermission made me face-palm so hard

Probably, but in the age of youtube and twitter e3 has become just another convention. I remember in the 90s it was a big deal, but we are way past that.

ifinitygamer7d ago

Completely agree, but when games like Cyberpunk 2077 get announced and everyone loses their bananas over it, the impressions of the games, the secrets from the show floor, all those little details that are uncovered, that fuels the news fire. If everything is so carefully controller in pre-recorded videos, it's a lot tougher to find things that can stoke media fire.

@meep316

e3 is still a big deal. By mentioning youtube and twitter you are just proving it further. During the week of e3 you can go to the youtube homepage and the first thing you see is the e3 symbol letting everyone know that e3 is taking place. Several games and announcements from e3 also start trending on twitter. It is a big deal. Just because Sony says something does not make it a fact.

meep3167d ago

They make game announcements all year long, most big games aren’t even announced at e3 anymore.

Is that so? I don´t think most gamers will run to watch Sony´s State of Play E3 Edition over Microsoft´s E3 Press Conference, in case both shows happens at the same time. But we shall see which show will have more views. ;)

Sony have already stated they will not do a show around E3. They will most likely announce TLOUp2 release date shortly before it though.

Oathbreaker7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

Considering the viewership count for MS Conference last E3 - It would be smart for third-parties to fight for stage time at MS show this year

tree_fiddy6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Considering how well that Anthem reveal went for them, we as consumers would be smart to take everything with a pinch of salt.
