With E3 2019 right around the corner, and Sony stepping away from the show this year, Eggplante thinks that third parties will be flocking to Microsoft to show off their latest games.
Well they certainly won't be at the Playstation show.
Who's to say what Sony will do with State of Play, really, but ideally, third parties want to be on a stage at E3, we think. The Nintendo Direct model works for Nintendo, but who knows if third parties are okay with skipping E3 the way Sony is.
Who’s to say it won’t work for Sony?????
Since when having not publicizing games is good, you people just came up with such bullshit.
Yeah but Sony have already said they aren’t doing anything around E3. No state of play. Devs want more of the media coverage that comes with E3
@ifinitygamer "Who's to say what Sony will do with State of Play" I agree. Some people on N4G will bet that Sony´s State of Play will blow Microsoft´s E3 conference out of water; because E3 is obsolete, worthless and dead (in their minds, obviously)
you don't say (nicolas cage face)
No shit sherlock. From a playstation gamers perspective though it'll be like last years MS E3 conference where we still get too see what's coming to playstation in regards to 3rd party though so that's a plus.
We're looking at a 2-hour conference, minimum. No shenanigans of moving between venues this year, either ;)
Love playstations E3 showings over the years but agree I was like wtf Sony and scratching my head last year lol, what was they thinking. Having said that we did see 4 great trailers but yep awful presentation.
The intermission made me face-palm so hard
Probably, but in the age of youtube and twitter e3 has become just another convention. I remember in the 90s it was a big deal, but we are way past that.
Completely agree, but when games like Cyberpunk 2077 get announced and everyone loses their bananas over it, the impressions of the games, the secrets from the show floor, all those little details that are uncovered, that fuels the news fire. If everything is so carefully controller in pre-recorded videos, it's a lot tougher to find things that can stoke media fire.
@meep316 e3 is still a big deal. By mentioning youtube and twitter you are just proving it further. During the week of e3 you can go to the youtube homepage and the first thing you see is the e3 symbol letting everyone know that e3 is taking place. Several games and announcements from e3 also start trending on twitter. It is a big deal. Just because Sony says something does not make it a fact.
They make game announcements all year long, most big games aren’t even announced at e3 anymore.
@meep316 "Probably, but in the age of youtube and twitter e3 has become just another convention. I remember in the 90s it was a big deal, but we are way past that." Is that so? I don´t think most gamers will run to watch Sony´s State of Play E3 Edition over Microsoft´s E3 Press Conference, in case both shows happens at the same time. But we shall see which show will have more views. ;)
Sony have already stated they will not do a show around E3. They will most likely announce TLOUp2 release date shortly before it though.
Considering the viewership count for MS Conference last E3 - It would be smart for third-parties to fight for stage time at MS show this year
Considering how well that Anthem reveal went for them, we as consumers would be smart to take everything with a pinch of salt.
And? That’s nothing new based on years passed. Maybe just some more confusing “Exclusive” PR to make everyone think the games are only coming to Xbox. Happened last year with Seriko.
I had no idea Microsoft said sekiro was exclusive .
"Exclusive world premiere"
They confused some people that day before clarifying later that it was an exclusive look on stage at their presentation. Most updated the confusion fairly quickly. https://variety.com/2018/ga...
because they didn't
They didn't say "exclusive world premiere" , it was quite clearly just "world premiere" Thanks.
Yep it was clearly just 'World Premiere' Not sure how anybody got confused by that. Talking about confusion, has Sony said if final fantasy 7 remake is coming to xbox yet?
Some people get confused when constantly trying to shit on Xbox, it's understandable.
No one thought sekiro was exclusive. Variety made a mistake. Everyone even casuals thought it was for ps4 as well. My brother being a ps fan saw the xbox e3 with me and said "nice since i already have bloodborne on ps4 I'm getting sekiro on it next"
Really eggplant wow that's some real clairvoyant type stuff right there, lol. In other news water is, you guessed it, still wet.
LOL. I've been telling people this for years. Water isn't wet, just as fire doesn't burn itself.
Meh semantics, its wet.
Well where else are they gonna go?
who else's stage would they flock to?
That's pretty much all Microsoft has on their stage anyway. Maybe some of their newly acquired studios will have made some headway on their exclusive projects. The last decade of MS E3 shows were basically me watching to see what I was going to play on my PlayStation.
That's a given LOL, Sony not there and Nintendo, well
Just keep it as quick as possible and no musical numbers
I bet they have a really good show because of this reason.
And? Do you think e3 changes anything? Does 80+ million players think that just because something is on a stage that offers zero additional coverage effect things? That’s the point of e3 not really serving a purpose anymore.
Wow. You post a LOT about xbox and it's not pleasant. Imagine channelling that negative energy into something worthwhile, like Rhino conservation or knitting blankets for Romanian orphans?
E3 does serve purpose for gamers. There are alot of people counting the day till this event every year, including myself. It is clear now as to why people like you dislike E3 as much this year.
@Rude-ro "That’s the point of e3 not really serving a purpose anymore." Yeah, come back to us with honesty and dignity to say that you didn´t watched Microsoft´s E3 Press Conference 2019 when all was said and done.
"80+ million players" is that insecurity I'm getting from that comment? If you're a gamer then i hope not
Microsoft is good at getting third party titles
They are good at paying them to let them present fake trailers at their conference (Anthem) with fake announcements like "XBox One X footage" when it's pre-rendered on PC.
You mean this only apply to MS?
I think Sony skipped is because they feel they dont need to win over gamers. Their past 2 E3s were garbage and they were because they had pretty much sealed the deal with winning the console market share. So yes I think Sony is being cocky. They really should watch out though, with all the acquired studios and possibly a new Xbox being shown, people will see it playing on Xbox and think its only on Xbox much like it happens now with Sony and their exclusive content deals.
Sony e3s have been garbage but shawn of playstation said there's nothing new to show this year so I'm guessing that by him including "this year" on there meant "next year is a different story. E3 might be a thing"
Sony still showed the best games of show the last 2 years, so it's all subjective if all those multiplatform games really make the best "show".
I imagine that like last year much of it will be revealed by the publishers before E3.
...and MS trying to pass off 3rd party titles as some sort of exclusive using deceptive languange.
No games has been announced yet. He's talking BS. Microsoft will announce more third party games that are Play Anywhere...
They've been doing this for years, they will obviously try again this year.
Unless they have their own show at e3, it makes sense they would then show up for Microsoft, as Sony doesnt have a show this year.
That what happens when Sony takes a shit on Third Party deals.
Of course,Sony is not at E3 this year. Makes sense. Though they'll be saying before every trailer exclusive premier.
Everyone presumes Sony won't be at E3... I know there is no conference, but the majority of announcements and reveals came from the pre shows previously, they may still have one of those whist the conferences are going on. Also, I doubt they'll 'flock' to MS, they most likely have to pay to be shown. A lot of announcements will happen on YouTube and via being shown on the floor
I basically only view Microsoft E3 conference as the 3rd party conference.
Your mistake to make.
The xbox w3 conference is going to be a monster!
If that's case, then Sony should do post-MS conference just to say 'also available on 'Playstation', bow and exit.
I'm ready for some high quality mobile experiences
I really think Xbox is going to blow people away this e3 and Sony fanboys will have a sour taste in their mouths. Next-gen console specs, game pass shadow drops and yes 3rd party games but unlike some I also think there will be a lot of first party exclusive trailers. I have a feeling Xbox will take a page out of Sony's playbook and show first party games even if they're 2 to 3 years away, however they can, cgi trailers, Anthem unrealistic trailers (lol) and a few gameplay trailers. Mark my words, there is no way they're blowing it with no Sony this year.
