Interesting article, and answered my question - How is it different from surround sound?

isarai2235d ago

Didnt think it would make much of a difference till i got my platinums and played through U4 with the 3d audio on. The magnum revolver is a freaking eargasm from fire to reload, especially hearing all the shells bounce on the floor

Knushwood Butt2235d ago

Platinums? U4?

Please explain. I've been hammering my wireless 7.1 headphones for a few years now and the battery life is noticably degraded. I'll probably look at 3D audio for a replacement.

Uncharted 4 has 3d audio, one of the first ps4 games to do so. When the update dropped i had recently upgraded to the Playstation brand "Platinum" headset which is made with 3d audio in mind. Its essentially just a slightly imprived 7.1(as in easier to pinpoint direction of source of sound) but with the added dimension of accuratelyhearing sources above and below you. Put that in a game with as much verticality as U4 and it really shines. Ive planned several drop attacks without even seeing the enemy, i just hear them on the level below me, and can tell when theyll be walking from under me. I point out the magnum cause honestly reloading that thing is borderline ASMR with these headphones, like the shell casings landing near my feet sounded like shell casings landing near my feet.

It might be minor for some people, but i as a bit of an audiophile really think its worth it if you got the money

Thanks. I'll have to check that out.

It’s definitely an upgrade, not sure about massive.

Grilla13h ago

It is massive compared to the switch 1. 6-10X the power, but compared to current standards it’s the bare minimum.

RedDevils13h ago

It's just a minor upgrade nothing special. Could have included the Oled screen but greedy Nintendo have something planned for it already.

Yesyes12h ago

Oled screen means nothing when people have OLED tv's.

Rage7711h ago

You are self aware of how dumb and "sheepy" that tagline of "greedy" sounds like at this point in time, right?
Every little entitled twat on the internet has used it ad nauseum, as if all of a sudden you somehow struck gold or something. it ALMOST sounds as infantile as the other meme vomit brain rot: "Defending the billion dollar company, blah, blah" FFS. tell me its "irony" at least what you are trying to express, so at least i can give you some credit for being "clever" or bold. I refuse to believe you ACTUALLY believe what you are saying, unironically,

repsahj12h ago

Great review! We have almost the same impression of the Switch 2. I don't care if the screen isn't OLED, because when I put it next to my friend's Steam OLED screen, they barely deviated in quality.

anast12h ago

Better than the Steam Deck not as good as the other consoles on the market.

PanicMechanic2h ago

Steam deck is the best handheld on the market, so no.

As someone who has been gaming nearly as long as gaming has been around (since the early 70's), you'd think I'd be against this. Having grown up with all the major platforms and the whole notion of physical ownership... but I'm not. i embrace this as it is a revolutionary convenience. And one i know for a fact many (especially here) have not even given the fair chance to use. I get it... i was there too. But now i have a new outlook on it. It really is a hell of an option if you just want to play with no commitments. By no means am i saying this should replace traditional gaming, its an option. And one that people should look at optimistically as a way to compliment traditional gaming. There is room for both to thrive.

I tend to use streaming on new games in GamePass. To see if I like the game. If I do, I'll download it for a better experience. It's so convenient & useful.
