Bioware didn't just stop
They failed

pwnmaster30002242d ago (Edited 2242d ago )

Mass effect series was my favorite game for my 360. So sad to see what happened to BioWare.

Any good rpg for the PS4 by the way?

zeal0us2242d ago

Horizon: Zero Dawn, Persona 5, Nioh,

Miss_Vixen2242d ago (Edited 2242d ago )

Persona 5, Undertale, Ni No Kuni 2, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, Tales of Berseria, Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, NieR: Automata.

Segata2242d ago

I'm not a Digimon fan but the Cybersleuth games are excellent. They basically play like a Shin Megami Tensei game with the atmosphere of a Persona game. Speaking of,Persona 5 is excellent. Nier Automata is amazing. Undertale. Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Dragon's Dogma. Cosmic Star Herione. Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Diablo III. Victor Vran Overkill. Path of Exile. Tokyo Xanadu. Tales of Vesperia. Dragon Quest XI (tho a version with more features, content and better music is coming to Switch) Trails of Cold Steel. Ys Origin (Prequel so jump right in and it's a pure action RPG) Ys VIII. Metal Max Xeno. Dragon's Crown. Odin's Sphere. Genesis collection has come classic RPGs on it.

Would recommend trying disgaea too if you're into the kind of tactical rpgs

Gamehard2242d ago

There's alot. The Witcher 3 if you haven't tried it already. If you're looking for something more traditional or jrpg, I'd say you'd have a hard time finding something better than Dragon Quest XI, or Nier Automata if you want action combat.

Outlawzz2242d ago

The first Mass effect was my highlight of last gen, it was amazing for me story wise and gameplay was good, a little glitchy at times but good. The second one was dumbed down and then the third just completely changed the game and not in a good way, I never finished it. I Have yet to play the new one but I'm in no rush.

raWfodog2242d ago

I've been playing "Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - Decisive edition" since it was released last month for the PS4. It was previously released on the PS3, Vita, and ported to Windows as well. It's a great RPG and has a calendar structure similar to Persona games. Looking forward to playing the sequels.

Maybe it that theirs kind of stunk as of lately.

CyrusLemont2241d ago

RPG = too much value, not enough return

Unless you’re Ubisoft and everything is gated and monetised.

Seraphim2241d ago

I don't care what people think or say. Ubi games are not RPGs. They take RPG elements and infuse them into shooters and action/adventure games. I mean if we want to get technical all games are an RPG in the sense that you "Role Play" as particular character/s.

You are right though. RPGs don't come with a large return normally. The expected sales figures are typically low. There are the exceptions like Final Fantasy and I believe Dragon Quest XI finally sold extremely well Stateside. The Witcher, Dragon Age has probable done incredibly well, Persona series should have strong sales and obviously the Elder Scrolls games. But for most RPG developers there isn't this huge sales expectation.

Just look at Japan and their Renaissance of JRPGs

Michiel19892242d ago

what renaissance? The've always had a ton of rpgs

Godmars2902242d ago

Not during the PS3/360 era when chasing after HD skyrocketed costs, and "everyone" wanted FPS. It was only after that mentality died down and thing returned to semi-normal that traditional styled gaming came back.

Michiel19892242d ago

no, thats was not that happened. Japanese studios still created mostly rpgs, just not that many rpgs for ps3 and 360. Psvita/psp/ds/3ds/wii got a shitton of rpgs during that time.

Godmars2902241d ago

*smacksforehead*

And were the Psvita/psp/ds/3ds/wii *HD* systems? Have JRPGs only just now begun to come back to main/HD level consoles?

Cybermario2243d ago

glad we have japan, they keep the rpg scene strong

Bleucrunch2241d ago

YES and I pray they never die....cause RPG' are my favorite genre..

2pacalypsenow2242d ago

Yeah everyone is doing those retarded Battle Royales.

NeoGamer2322241d ago (Edited 2241d ago )

I do agree with your statement. But, at the same time RPGs have become more and more about endless grinding and how difficult they are to play.

Take me back to when RPGs were not only about managing your inventory and how many times you die before you succeed and back to strong stories that engaged me as I played the RPG.

I saw the trailer to Borderlands 3 and was loving it until they stated that it had over a billion weapons. WTF? That will probably a billion hours of grinding if you are dumb enough to go after them all.

yoshatabi2241d ago

Billions of weapons is hella cool. I don't know what you're talking about. And who the hell would try to get all of them? That's stupid

2pacalypsenow2241d ago

“And who the hell would try to get all of them? That's stupid”

People have beaten dark souls using a steering wheel lol

Sirk7x2241d ago (Edited 2241d ago )

A billion in the fact that they are generated and randomized. They didn't create a billion different weapons, that's not even possible lol

Very good dev length for a AAA/AA game I'd say. Companies need to set an aim for this range. 1-2 is too little, I believe 3-4 is perfect. Any more is too much. Games don't need to be these gigantic games full of a crazy amount of content. Just make a good game.

Skate-AK10h ago

Lol. Had no idea who that was, but I will admit they do look quite similar.

Hideo Kojima calls Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 “ideal” for one key reason

Legendary gaming auteur Hideo Kojima heaped praise on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, calling it “ideal” for one significant reason.

gigoran818h ago

Greatness knows greatness. Simple as that. Expedition 33 is a masterpiece, built with a smaller team and with a smaller budget, blowing ubisoft out of the water. It doesn't matter how many devs you have and how much money you throw at it, great studios like Sandfall Interactive will always overcome you.

mastershredder1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Ideal are you opinions being vacant from any discussion that is not about your own cringy universe Hideo.

The master of Vanity Tech Demos is here to tell us what a good game is. ooooh kay. It's pretty dang obvious without your 2 cents desperately needing relevance. This is just like his GTA grovel a while back. Yuck.

quite honestly, i havent been able to stop thinking about it ha.

i keep playing it
