$180 for the year if you paid the monthly price but i got a feeling there will be other ways to get a years worth for less.

FallenAngel19842260d ago (Edited 2260d ago )

Yo that’s $180 a year!

When you compare that to
- 1 year of PS Now for $100
- 1 year of PS+ for $60

You get a total of $160 annually which is $20 cheaper. So you know that in the long term that this XBGPU is a bad deal.

Not to mention that that you don’t even need PS+ to play PS Now games with online multiplayer so you don’t even need to pay for both services.

Who’s Microsoft trying to fool here? This becomes even more insulting when you realize that

- 1 year of Xbox Game Pass is $120
- 1 year of Xbox Live Gold is $60

You get $180, which is exactly the same yearly cost as this XBGPU annually! You’re basically paying the same amount only on a monthly basis. You aren’t saving anything by sticking with this long term as opposed to subscribing for both services separately annually

darthv722260d ago

I'd imagine there will be a yearly deal that they havent announced yet. If not then I'm sure people will find deals online like they generally do for XBL cards and such.

porkChop2260d ago

You're comparing Xbox's monthly prices to PlayStation's annual prices.

"Who’s Microsoft trying to fool here? This becomes even more insulting when you realize that

- 1 year of Xbox Game Pass is $120
- 1 year of Xbox Live Gold is $60"

XGP is $10 per month, and XBLG is also $10 per month. So when paying monthly this bundle saves you $60 over the course of the year.

antarius2259d ago

Getting downvoted for using simple math? Tough crowd.

FallenAngel19842260d ago

@ darth

I doubt it since Microsoft hasn’t even given Xbox Game Pass its own yearly deal 2 years after it released.

It’s cheaper to find deals for XBLG & XBGP individually than one for XBGPU.

@ pork

Until Microsoft offers its own annual model, that’s the only way to calculate the annual price for XBGP compared to PS Now’s annual price.

Who’s seriously paying monthly for XBLG during an entire year when there’s a more cost effective annual model? Anyone who’s going for the long term will go for the $60 annual. I can’t imagine anyone who’d consider staying on XBLG for the long haul yet not realizing $10 a month is the worst way to go about it.

However $10 a month is the only way to get XBGP, so you can’t get out of paying $120 a year for it until Microsoft offers a yearly model like PS Now does.

optimus2260d ago (Edited 2260d ago )

@Fallen angel...$10 a month is NOT the only way to get gamepass, $1 deals happen regularly, in fact, right now they are offering 3 months for $1. gamepass has been out for over a year now and i have yet to pay full price for it. not to mention i don't know anyone that subscribes for an entire year.

the smart way to use gamepass is to play the game or games you want, finish them during that month and let it expire and wait for the next deal.

FallenAngel19842260d ago

I’m talking about the how it’s the only standard way to get it if for any reason you can’t find a deal.

Also the mere fact that you can constantly find deals for XBLG & XBGP individually shows how superfluous this XBGPU is for long term subscribers.

TekoIie2260d ago

"Who’s Microsoft trying to fool here?"

Probably anyone who's foolish enough to purchase those services at full price and not while on sale or from a CD key site.

FanboysKiller2260d ago

But they can't afford putting newer exclusives like ms.

the funny thing is, even if you have Gamepass, you still need XBL Gold to play those games online while PS Now games can be played online without PS+if I'm not mistaken.

compared to PS Now, Gamepass is a ripoff LOL

Well then....it's a good thing they have this bundle deal to help people out. /s

PhoenixUp2260d ago

This is just Microsoft further mockingly reminding people that they need an XBLG subscription to play online multiplayer on XBGP titles.

I’ve never seen a more insulting gesture. Oh wait...they just announced a digital only Xbox One that’s only $50 cheaper and doesn’t come with a 4TB HDD to compensate

LabRat2260d ago

You must be very young if you've never seen a more insulting gesture cause life is full of them.

Vasto2260d ago

This is one of the most silliest things I have heard ever.

MFs has been beating their chests over great quarterly results and big profits to shareholders while firing people by the thousands just like Sony.

I wonder if at the top of those rumored layoffs they´ll also cancel upcoming or unannounced games while shutting down more studios as well.

pwnmaster30002h ago

Always got to throw shade at Sony smh.
Yes we get it,

pwnmaster300024m ago(Edited 23m ago)

@Blacktiger

Im not offended , that’s just his formula lol
He can’t help help himself, he needs to bring Sony down when the topic involves MS.
Whether is good news for MS or bad, it some how leads to Sony doing bad lmao.
It’s actually hilarious.

"just like Sony"

Gosh you're insufferable, not everything needs to be both-sides'd. Sony's had layoffs, but nothing like what Microsoft has been doing and is continuing to do.

CrimsonWing691h ago(Edited 1h ago)

I mean, no offense, but this is why you’re not some corporate business person running a major corporation. Big profits don’t mean jobs are safe. Do you understand why things like this happen:

Cutting jobs to maintain or increase profitability, especially in underperforming divisions like parts of Xbox like other gaming divisions.

Corporate restructuring and relocating resources for strategic stability in ever changing markets and consumer behaviors.

Investor expectations and optimizing operations to maintain investor confidence. Whatever boosts stock prices and improves future margins.

And there’s many other factors at play. It’s never as simple as business doing well, everyone’s safe. That’s just you not understanding at all how corporations work and have been working since the beginning. This isn’t something that’s specific to Xbox, you can bet your ass Sony and Nintendo do this and if it’s not clear by now, game development is not a stable job nor has it ever been for many. A lot of developers are contractors and guess what happens when a project is done?

Ganif13m ago

Nintendo said they have no plans for layoffs, and you can't seriously claim that the scale of Sony's layoffs most of which involved Bungie which is self managed as even close to the same scale as what Microsoft has done since they purchased Zenimax. And that significantly less layoffs would have happened if those publishers had stayed independent. Keep in mind that much of these layoffs have been due to redundancies specifically related to these buyouts.

-Foxtrot1h ago

It's like banging your head off a wall, he just can't help himself.

Microsoft can do no wrong, Sony sucks at everything and Nintendo is bigged up because it's less hassle than trying to defend Microsoft all the time

What's going to happen when Microsoft finally turn completely third party, then what?

I enjoy Obscure. Obscure does good work.

Did you know that the first n4g was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program.

Tacoboto2m ago

I wouldn't be surprised at this point if anast and osbcure were both alts for the Admin.

We know how Obscure especially drums up additional comments and clicks with his spam-worthy remarks that somehow never get moderated

Sony Faces Class Action in the Netherlands Over Allegedly Inflated PlayStation Store Prices

Mass Damage & Consumer Foundation in the Netherlands has filed a class action against Sony for inflating PlayStation Store prices.

dveio56m ago(Edited 54m ago)

My personal opinion:

Manufacturers and publishers have indeed inflated the industry.

From $700 million development costs for games like Call of Duty, to digital (store) prices for games and DLCs, online multiplayer fees on consoles (why can you play Helldivers 2 online for free on PC but not consoles?) or still preventing sell/lend digitally purchased games.

Sometime in the future, this bubble will collapse.

They should know better, but they just can't help themselves and suck even the last penny out of our wallets.

anast38m ago

The Dutch gov. wants a piece of the pie.

Eonjay14m ago

They should be suing the individual publishers increasing the prices to $80 instead of suing the store. There are plenty of publishers still selling game for like $50 with much success (like E33). But this proves that the publishers are the ones setting the prices.... so again nothing changes because they aren't even going after the main offender. How is suing Sony going to make Microsoft not charge $80 for the next COD? Sony being the number one store in the market doesn't mean that publisher have to charge us an arm and a leg. Again the industry is laughing at us because consumers never get real representation. Just these fake platitudes that are meaningless.
