Microsoft Claims That Xbox Live Won't Explode Like Last Christmas Season

Ripten: "Remember last year, soon after the release of Call of Duty 4, when all the good little boys and girls that got Xbox 360s for Christmas proceeded to destroy Xbox Live? I do, as I'm sure a lot of you do as well, and I know for damn sure that Dan Landis does. When he reported on it last year, the article became a hot topic on Ripten for a good long while.

Well, this year is looking pretty scary with multiplayer heavy hitters Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War, and Left 4 Dead on the horizon, not to mention the New Xbox Experience. All of these hit within the next three weeks. However, Microsoft claims that this year, they'll be prepared."

I still don't understand what happened last year. Could they not predict Christmas?

it not suppose to gow down comppletely . only servers are suppose to go down. i beleive they are making claims it wont go down to make it sound like it was due to overpopulation on live last year

well hope it goes well this time anyway

Capt CHAOS4035d ago

I infact reckon, they'll go go down. Xbox live, PSN, the lot of em.

InMyOpinion4035d ago

If PSN had as many active users as XBL it would be down permanently.

The Xbox will explode, not the Xbox Live.

i hope it does not, the good thing is this year there are a lot of games with great single player stories, so ill have a lot to play even if live is down.

last year, everyone was playing halo 3 and cod 4. i think thats what crashed it so bad.

It still shouldn't have happened regardless.

All Gold XBL members got a free arcade game for the very long three days of trouble. I still play undertow here and there. Three days of no live for a free arcade game? Sure lets do that deal every month.

It's not one of those things you can be 100% certain about. I mean it's not like they knew it was going to crash last year. It's just one of those things that happens. I'm sure they are taking extra means this year to prepare, but you never know.

Personally I'm more worried about Sony. With HOME, R2, and LBP I wonder how they will hold up.
