Apple is reportedly spending massive amounts of money on games for its Arcade service, including short-term exclusives.
KnowTechie writes: "The GameScent is a unique way to add immersion to your games. Thanks to its HDMI and 3.5mm jack, the device is versatile, so you can use it across your consoles and PC. However, it would be great to see a new range of scents since there are only six, and many smell similar to each other."
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
GameScent is aiming to push gaming forward with the ability to fill the room with an aroma that matches the game being played.
Good, competition is better
They certainly have the money to do so. Though a traditional gaming console would’ve been interesting, for Apple it makes sense to get revenue from their existing users.
I have an iPhone myself, and I’m a gamer, but they have yet to intice me to actually want to download or buy any games from the App Store. All my gaming needs are covered by consoles. I guess they are after my dollars and with this service they think they can actually get it.
Unless they offer something truly extraordinary I doubt they will be able to convince me, but we will find out soon enough.
