Kotaku: "In July of 2017, I realised I’d never played Final Fantasy 7 since learning Japanese. I decided to do so, and make a little video about the experience. In the very first text box of the game, I encountered a nuanced difference between the Japanese and the English. This inspired an obsession.
Two years later, I have played through the game 16 times in both English and Japanese, and made five hours’ worth of videos detailing hundreds of meaningful differences between the English translation and the original Japanese script. Today the project is complete. This is the first part of the two-part finale."
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.
