Black Paradox is a fast-paced roguelite shoot 'em up where you unleash an arsenal of weapons, power-ups, drones, and other upgrades to survive waves of enemies, against a backdrop of vibrant pixel art and synth-wave soundtrack.
When I downloaded Black Paradox by Fantastico Studio, I was expecting a classic throwback and nothing more. The cyberpunk pixel graphics and synthwave soundtrack drew me to the game with their throwback vibes. However, even though I felt like I was playing a 1980's arcade game, what I experienced was a contemporary twist on the space shooter genre. I was never into shooters, so discovering this action-packed title opened a whole new world of gaming I didn't know could be so fun.
TGG writes: "Black Paradox is a shmup that looks great, sounds great, and plays great but doesn’t reward great."
Kieran writes: Black Paradox is a Side Scrolling Shoot-em-up massively influenced by all things ’80s, made by Fantastico Studio. The title comes from the name of your character, a time-travelling space gallivanting bounty hunter who must hunt down the seven leaders of the criminal organisation known as the Hellraisers.
The gameplay is fast and frenetic, borrowing from a lot of classic games such as R-Zone and Gradius, two powerhouses of the side-scrolling shooting nature.
Bit of info: The game seems to be missing on the PSN store, despite it coming out only a few weeks ago - it's available everywhere else though and we've asked the publisher for more info.
