Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Review – Easy Mode Needed? - Googame

Is Sekiro going to be up to the Dark Souls' standard? Is it as hard? After playing it, one question still remains: Is an easy mode needed?

Jin_Sakai2263d ago

If you don’t like the game being what it is then don’t get it. I don’t have the patience or enjoy very hard games so I just don’t get them. Simple as that.

Sure that's one way to look at it. Pretty my way or the highway though. If you will, answer just one question.

What is the harm of adding an easy mode to make it more accessible to casual players who want to experience the amazing art design, world building, and overall journey?

It means more sales so the producer/developer wins and it in no way dilutes the experience for more seasoned gamers who relish the challange and sense of acomplishment.

Flexibiity is rarely a bad thing. Best of both worlds.

I don't personally mind it. However if the creator, the artist, says they don't desire to, then it should be left at that. You wouldn't ask an incredibly intelligent author to write an easier-to-understand version of their book because you can't get through it. You just wouldn't buy it. It's okay, not everything is for everyone. It should be the artist's decision, and if they say no, then their answer should be accepted and people should move on.

@capjacksparrow I thake your point and agree the artist should have the final say but you kind of didn't answer my question(what is the harm of including the option).

I don't think the novel analogy is really comprable as they're very different mediums and adding an easier difficulty is hardly the same a rewriting a novel ;)

Imho, they'd actually get a hollow and brief experience. There isn't really much 'overall journey' without the challenge to make it meaningful.

My 30 hour playthrough would probably have been closer to 10 if I'd played an easy mode and getting from idol to idol, boos to boss, wouldn't have meant much. It'd be sight-seeing. May as well watch a youtube playthrough. This isn't a Witcher style story driven RPG with an open-world to just ride around in, and I say that even though W3 is in my top 3 GoaTs.

I'm guessing that people who think the game looks amazing and want an easy mode in order to play would think, once they experienced it, 'Jesus, why the hell did this game get all those 9's? It's pretty hollow and empty'.

The gameplay and mechanics really are designed around the difficulty; it's the very foundation of the game. It's not a question of them creating the game and then thinking, 'Ok, how difficult should we make this?'. Rather, they design the difficulty and mechanics first, establish the feel of the game, of the challenge they want the player to face and then create the product around it.

Smh here we go again with the easy mode complaining. Stop complaining grow a sack and put some balls in it.

I don't think it needs one unless the developer wishes to add one. Their game has a 90 meta score and their fans love it. It's exactly what they wanted. FromSoft is aware that they can pull in more people by making the game easier, it may be their artistic choice to not. They should deliver a statement about whether or not they will, if they don't, people should leave it be.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Review

NoobFeed editor Ahnaf Tajwar writes - FromSoftware cooked up one of the best combat systems with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and never did anything like it again. That may be a good thing, as it makes this game one of a kind. If you are a fan of Souls games or a borderline masochist, you will, without a doubt, love Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice because it is a masterpiece. It is a must-play for all hardcore gamers.

Hells yeah. Would love to see another really tight action focused title next. Be cool if he did something completely different, like a cyborg-ninja game.
