Pet simulators on Nintendo platforms have a rather high bar to clear. This is a company that has given the world Nintendogs, then Nintendogs + Cats. Both games give people the chance to play with many adorable animals from an array of different breeds. The second one even manages to make cats, animals that sleep about 12 hours each day, interesting. Little Friends: Dogs & Cats has big shoes to fill. Fortunately, if the Japanese demo is any indication, it seems like it is going to do its best to attempt to embody the spirit of Nintendo's iconic pet simulation series.

When playing through a pet simulation, people might wonder exactly how accurate the experience is. Does the game show off the downsides and messy parts of pet ownership? Does it have moments where someone who has owned a dog or cat will realize it rings true? While Little Friends: Dogs & Cats is more of a friendly and “easy” take on these sorts of relationships, there are plenty of times where it can be accurate.

Little Friends: Dogs & Cats lack many of the features that made its predecessors so fun and enjoyable, and whilst the graphics help give the pets a cute and adorable feel, it did not help me keep engaged with the game to play for a long amount of time.
