Massively: One Shots: Roll for initiative

Massively has spent many a happy hour gathered around a table, adventuring with friends while fighting over possession of the snacks. So they love to see screens from Dungeons and Dragons Online, where people play out campaigns -- just in MMO form. Today's One Shots comes to them from Massively reader Bam! who sent along this gorgeous screenshot from Dungeons and Dragons Online along with the following note: "Though I wanted to capture the moment where the dragon is walking in the ice tunnel below you, I missed it, so here it is. This is the cause of all the trouble in the new starter area for DDO mod 8. Without spoiling too much of anything, we're here to turn the balance in the fight between the mindflayer and the dragon. The changes made in Mod 8 (including DX10) are fantastic. I hope it will attract some new players."

Best Video Games Like D&D. Includes two games that are literally using the D&D ruleset and have WotC D&D branding and one that uses the D&D 3.5 ruleset with custom classes (Pathfinder).

I really wish authors would spend more time explaining and detailing things rather than being so focused on throwing a list together for yet another opinion piece. There's a ton you can say about all of these games and their ties to Pen and Paper roleplaying. Other than Armello, all of the listed games are inspired by various PnP RPGs, including Warhammer for one of them. Obsidian alone got much of their start in classic D&D RPGs and Dragon Age was their own take on many of their past creations molded into one that was even turned into a PnP game.

If ya wanna lose your life lol! Did the mmo thing, and a few of them are great. Still have friends from each one and most still play 10 hrs a day. Now it's hard for me to find an hr a day to play anything.
