DSOGaming writes: "Back in February 2018, we shared some screenshots from an upcoming fan remake of Star Wars: Dark Forces in Unreal Engine 4. Created by Obsidian Entertainment’s senior environment artist, Jason Lewis, this remake aimed to recreate the first level from the game in Epic’s engine. And we are happy to report today that this map is available for download."
Star Wars: Dark Forces has been around for literal decades, and yet the force is still strong for this iconic shooter even 30 years later.
I remember waiting for the original to release 30 years ago and receiving my monthly copy of PCGamer magazine packed full of demos, including this game and all sorts of interesting software… good times!
Nothing like thinking back to realise how shitty the world has become these days.
Dark Forces, one of the most influential FPSs in videogaming history, hits a milestone in 2025.
Experience the classic adventure anew with Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, launching Feb 28, 2024, on all major platforms with enhanced visuals and gameplay.
Thank you again NIGHTDIVE for making a remaster of one my favorite PS1 games Darlk Forces ! definitely buying this on day one . Even John Romero had given Dark Forces high praise back in the 90s .
Let's get remakes/remasters of the Jedi Knight series and some more sequels to that franchise too.
simply amazing.
He should remake the whole game, don't say or show any more footage, release the full game on all the torrent sites, and give a big F U to Disney, since now they can't remove the torrent and we all have the full game for free.
They made the best Fallout games ... you denied them a second release.
They made the best Star Wars RPG ... you denied them a second chance.
The senior artist makes the most impressive looking Star Wars map in gaming ... as a project.
Yeah. Now with MS funding, you can easily put them alongside cdProjekt as the big dogs of the RPG industry.
You know it's pretty bad when fans in their spare time put out better star wars games than EA.
That is stunning. This is proper dedication and care right here. You look at the new Battlefront games and you can see that it doesn't have this much heart and soul in it. This is what you get when somebody creates something because they care. This is the type of thing Star Wars fans are missing out on because it's in the hands of a company like EA.
I would absolutely love a Star Wars adventure game. A proper adventure game, where each area is detailed and everything has a purpose. Something like Shenmue, or if you're looking for something with more action, something like Yakuza.
