Best of luck to him on creating the next big thing.

Sciurus_vulgaris2290d ago

PUBG only did so well because it was cheap and lacked competition. I personally don't understand what was so great about the game. PUBG is one of the ugliest and most unoptimized games I have ever played. I think Brendan Greene is a developer that achieved mass success too easily.

alb18992290d ago

Well it is the best game this generation for me even with the problems it has.

Prince-Ali2290d ago

@Alb1899

Then you either have HORRIBLE taste or simply have been STARVED of playing any other game of quality lool...
This isn't even about questioning your opinion of why you like the game but its to quesiton the fact you think this is the BEST GAME THIS GENERATION which is plain and simply isn't for a WHOLE HOST of reasons! looool

gamer92290d ago

Agreed, definitely one of the top games of the generation. Finally a fresh idea in the MP. Nothing gets my heart going even half as much as this game

monkeyfox2290d ago (Edited 2290d ago )

Pubg achieved huge success becuase it did something different, plain and simple. Gamers wanted something new and didn't want to keep playing the same old crap churned out by big Western publishers.

Despite its many flaws it was a great game and easily a contender for one of the best of the last year. It moved the industry in a new direction and has influenced MP game design for many years to come.

Before PUBG the battle royale genre wasn’t as well known. You can count on one hand as to how many games have that mode.

Nowadays you can’t go on without hearing the announcement of new BR game or at least the addition of BR mode into existing game. So I’d say PUBG actually deserves all the success it got.

nowitzki20042289d ago

That is your opinion though, just dont act like what you think is a fact.

Lol he gave up on the game. Even when it continues to struggle with updates... Especially on console. For shame 🤦‍♂️

King_Noctis2290d ago

But it states right there below the headline that "Brendan Greene, aka PlayerUnknown, has moved on from PUBG to build a new division focused on research and game development."

Plus if you actually bother reading the article you would see that he still remained as the consulting creative director for the game and had appointed another person as the lead director as well. So how is he giving up on the game in any way?

MetroidFREAK212289d ago

"research and game development" means he wants to create another game. Of course he is going to "stay on" as a consultant with a game that he created, but it's quite obvious that he is done with PUBG. I don't care about who he appointed as the new lead... that's not who I am talking about. Trust me, I read the article on the original website before I saw this on N4G. Don't jump down my neck because you assumed I didn't read which is silly. He is done with the game, and it seems like BR in general. Too bad the game never lived up to it's potential 🤷

Him and the majority of battle royale players

KwietStorm_BLM2290d ago

So now you decide to do research and development

I love this controller. Feels so nice in the hand. Plus the battery lasts for days, it's crazy.

$100 ?????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????

1nsomniac3h ago

Yea the pricing for Nintendo peripherals is a bigger joke than the game prices. What the hell were they thinking!

Vits3h ago

The thing is, over the past decade, third-party controllers have really stepped up. You can often get better quality, more durability, and stronger performance for half the price of first-party options. Meanwhile, controllers from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have become increasingly mediocre, expensive, fragile, and not particularly impressive across the board. What makes this especially noticeable with Nintendo is that they’re surprisingly open to third-party hardware. That openness ends up highlighting just how much better the alternatives are.

Best controller I’ve ever used I even like more than my dual sense edge

Very good dev length for a AAA/AA game I'd say. Companies need to set an aim for this range. 1-2 is too little, I believe 3-4 is perfect. Any more is too much. Games don't need to be these gigantic games full of a crazy amount of content. Just make a good game.

Skate-AK15h ago

Lol. Had no idea who that was, but I will admit they do look quite similar.

Hideo Kojima calls Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 “ideal” for one key reason

Legendary gaming auteur Hideo Kojima heaped praise on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, calling it “ideal” for one significant reason.

gigoran823h ago

Greatness knows greatness. Simple as that. Expedition 33 is a masterpiece, built with a smaller team and with a smaller budget, blowing ubisoft out of the water. It doesn't matter how many devs you have and how much money you throw at it, great studios like Sandfall Interactive will always overcome you.

mastershredder6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

Ideal are you opinions being vacant from any discussion that is not about your own cringy universe Hideo.

The master of Vanity Tech Demos is here to tell us what a good game is. ooooh kay. It's pretty dang obvious without your 2 cents desperately needing relevance. This is just like his GTA grovel a while back. Yuck.

gold_drake6h ago

quite honestly, i havent been able to stop thinking about it ha.

i keep playing it

He’s massively overrated and writes terrible dialogue.
