'The Division 2' PS4 File Size Is 100 GB, Xbox One and PC File Sizes Much Smaller

That's not how it works.

This is not additional data, it's replacement data.

Having two discs would change nothing. The game fits on the disc, it just needs to be mostly replaced in order to work correctly.

What I find funny is that people who download the game will have this all in advance and be ready to go at 12:01 on release day, while all the "physical is better" people have to wait for their disc to install, and THEN still wait for this update to download.

It’s about having to DL that large of a file to begin with. People with good fast internet (like yourself I assume) don’t seem to understand that there are people with data caps, 5-15mbps internet speeds, or worse as only option depending where they live.
For those people having that large of a patch could mean they will have to wait a couple days or more before they can even play the game they bought.
I understand that this patch is replacing data already on disc but if you need to change 90GB from time you’ve gone gold till day one then there is a huge problem.

I was just saying that having two discs would not solve the problem. The game was on the disc before this patch existed.

You do know that patches replace old data with new data, for example maybe 10-15gb of the 90gb will increase the size of the game.

Yea, I sit a matching white 4tb ext right behind my ps4. Oddly enough, the external runs games even faster than the 1tb 7200 internal I installed a while back.

I’m buying less games because of it. And honestly I feel next gen will be worse. There’s no way I can go all digital, some games are larger than my monthly cap. Mostly reason I mainly play SP on PS4 because you aren’t required to have game updated to latest version to play it unless your playing online MP. Only way to do that with my Xbox is to put in offline mode and the whole damn console pretty much looses all functionality at that point.

Yeah it must suck, although I feel the problem is that caps still exist. I had capped internet as well, but that was in 1996.

Yeah, capped internet is a thing here in Chicago too if you can't get RCN or WOW. For a while comcast kept sending me mail, begging me to leave WOW and sign for they're capped services. As if.

@kingPoS: If you’re complaining about Xfinity caps I have a feeling you don’t know how they work or about competitors. Comcast’s caps are a lot less strict than I’d imagine every ISP in the US with caps.

1TB per month allowance. You’ll receive a letter telling you if you go over but there is zero cost. If you’re a repeat offender odds are you aren’t downloading strictly legal content.

The problem is many areas simply don't have decent enough internet to download that big of a file. I have friends in Canada, and not only would that blow through their data cap, it would probably take over a week to download as well.

Being a Switch owner, i feel bad for my fellow owners. Micro SD cards are starting to hit a limit on how much they can reliably store while being able to stably read & write at expected speeds.

If I’m going to invest in such a huge HDD I can guarantee it won’t be for a B-list multiplat. I have nothing against The Division, but if a game’s going to be a total space hog that forces me to delete stuff and/or invest in more storage, it had better be worth rolling out the red carpet for. I just don’t think this game is worth it next to upcoming titles like Days Gone, and I’m sure that game won’t require so much data.

Yeah, I'll pass on this. Sekiro and Devil May Cry this month instead. There are plenty of shooters to choose from when I'm feeling it. Can boot up Overwatch, any Halo or Apex whenever I please lol.

Overwatch, Halo, and Apex legends have next to nothing in common with the Division. They all have guns that shoot when you pull the right trigger, but that is just about where the similarities end.

None of those games I mentioned are incredibly similar as well, but they're all online first person shooters. If I'm feeling that genre, I have plenty of other options to choose from over Division. Same as if I want to play an RPG, I have to make a choice on what to play and spend my money on.

If I am in the mood for Borderlands, playing Titanfall instead would not be a substitute.

I could play chess instead and it would have just as much success at scratching that itch.
